Bummed by Happy Mondays

This really scratched an itch for new wave-influenced music with a funk bent. I think I’m also partial to slightly out of tune British rock singers

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Jan 12 2024

The 90s sounded like this album.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Jan 13 2024

Definite departure from their prior, more rock-forward albums. Gallows Pole is one of my all time favorites, though I do get a little bit tired by the end of the folk acousticness

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Jan 14 2024

Impressed with the experimentation throughout the album. Sometimes it creates amazing songs (Once in a Lifetime), other times less so, but either way I applaud the creativity.

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Jan 17 2024

This is a solid album of 90s rock even without featuring any of the Foo Fighters’ most iconic songs. Very listenable, good first record, not really any bad songs in the set

Meat Puppets II by Meat Puppets

Interesting choice to have seemingly talented musicians intentionally play out of tune

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Feb 10 2024

It feels like this entire album has no bass sound - everything from the voices to guitar to the drums is in a narrow high frequency band, it makes the songs not sound very ‘full’

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Feb 15 2024

It’s impressive how, for as long as this album is, that it can maintain such a high level of quality across the range of rock from hard (Jellybelly, Bullet With Butterfly Wing), through pop (1979) to the softer side (Stumbleine). I was already listening to the hits off it all the time, but I’m very happy to have been introduced to the rest of it

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Feb 22 2024

It will always amaze me that what was retrospectively a record made just so Walter Becker and Donald Fagen could fund the music they actually wanted to make, is in fact one of the greatest rock albums of all time. This basically launched yacht rock, and I’ll always be grateful to Elliott Randall for playing maybe the greatest guitar solo of all time on Reelin’ In The Years.

Feb 25 2024

Opens with three megahits that still hold up, and the rest is an interesting mix of different songs. Particularly like Bullet the Blue Sky and Exit
