Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music
Ray CharlesI do not like this genre of music. Sounds like something you would a couple dancing to in a fancy restaurant in the 50’s

Good album, I used it at the gym to get motivation- I needed some rage! I prefer Audioslave though, for sitting and listening. I realize it was one of the earliest metal rap bands but Kid Tick and Limp Bizkit made me tire of this genre quickly
Do they want to be Bowie or Springsteen? Can see this album being the soundtrack of an angsty teen movie. Over the top and not enjoyable.
Great heavy metal album. Bruce Dickinson’s voice added so much to this album
The production quality of this album is not good-very tinny sound. It sounds like an early Beatles knockoff with the beginnings of some punk added. Too poppy for me
Back when it was called Country and Western music. A great example of this genre, with catchy tunes and great storytelling. Not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate the talent. I recognized one of the songs from Breaking Bad and one played by the Grateful Dead. So it’s definitely had an impact
No! This music literally gave me vertigo and made me nauseated. It was probably groundbreaking in 1997, but now I just lump it in with all the EDM music thumping from the site of the Electric Daisy Carnival which is too close to my home!
Masterpiece! If rock and smooth jazz had a baby it would be Aja. This is the type of album that makes me happy and calms me down after a hard day. Musically and technically perfect
In my opinion this is their best album . Great songs, great production, and just the feeling when I listen to it.
First time I ever heard of this musician. This album is beautiful! Great acoustic playing, and the songs are just gorgeous and full of yearning. So authentic!
Haunting songs with a melodic voice. This album just punched me in the gut! First time listening to Nina Simone. Definitely will listen to more.
Not for me. I know that Coltrane was one of the pioneers of jazz and I do like jazz, but not this kind. I feel like I’m supposed to like him, and while I can appreciate his virtuosity, I just do not like this style. I gave it a fair shake though
Not sure why I had to hear this before I die. Just dance music, not bad, but not really anything that makes it stand out from any other club type music (maybe a touch of funk)
Yawn! Maybe good music to sleep to
Awful!
Sounds like a low budget album made by no talent writer with an electric keyboard. I keep getting this kind of crap and wonder why it’s important to hear these before I die. Maybe so I can appreciate better music?
What a great album!
This had a cool vibe with a bit of funk. Good for background music
Off key screaming trying to pass as singing. Hard core punk worth nothing redeeming about it. A lot of this list seems to be punk; hardcore punk, punk, post punk, neo-punk. I hate it all
The first song is a tinny sounding bare bones version of Eddie Cochran’s “Summertime Blues.” So many have done this song better. Second up is the standard “Rock Me Baby” they should have been ashamed to release this as some of the greats have covered this song. The rest of the songs consist of The guitar player going off and playing soloes like he doesn’t even know what song is playing. They are so off key and jarring. I suppose he’s trying to show off his guitar skills, but I winced all through the rest of this album . It’s obvious that the record company spared a lot of expense on this album.
Arguably, the Boss’s best album. Great songs with meaningful stories and kick-ass music!
Nope
Perfection!
Great musicians playing great music that I just cannot connect with.
Getting tired of punk, neo-punk, post-punk etc.
Great album with important statements
Irving and repetitively. I can’t imagine any scenario where I would enjoy listening to this
Another perfect album by The Band. The brown album is my favorite
My dog is rating this one: my mom put this on before we went to bed. It is dreamy soft music that put me right to sleep. I loved it but my mom thought it was boring. She said every song sounded the same. But she promised she’d play it for me every night. We compromised on the number of stars
Really enjoyed this album. Some good songs and really great drum beats. I saved a few to listen to again
I will never listen to this again in my life
2 great songs, a couple of good songs and the rest were ok.
Very surprising that the album picked was not the one that contained her biggest hit (The Girl from Ipanema) This album would have sounded much better if she had recorded it in her native language. The English lyrics felt awkward and forced with the background of the beautiful samba music. The addition of the “Parade” song was jarring, and did not belong in this album
Great musicians! I liked this way more than I thought I would.
Better than I thought it would be.
