This has some grooves but beyond two or three songs nothing sticks and it was actually tough to get through

Incredible. I heard a lot of things about this man but never listened. You often think to yourself "How good can someone actually be"
But Jimi Hendrix just set a new standard for me when it comes to playing guitar.
The Psychedelic vibes of this are incredible.
This also does not sound like the 60s at all! I had to check the date again 5 songs in.
Amazing album!

Fantastique. The Best Bowie album I've heard (so far).
70/100
Very yank but also a lot of fun.

After three songs it does all start to sound really similar... Still a very good Jazz-Rock album!
50/100
It sounds very fresh and the opening song is killer but it feels improvised and doesn't make for a good album listening experience.

My first german album :) => Aber es ist Scheiße :(
I know what he is trying to do here and the silly twist sometimes works but never warrants the long song lengths.
I have no idea how this one made the list of 1001 albums you NEED to hear.
60/100
This has some very strong Electro tracks but the quality is all over the place. It's a shame because some of the ideas here are great.

Lenny Kravitz has always been an artist whose general popularity strikes me as confusing. While his debut offers some nice 70s revival and is concise there are no true stand-outs
60/100
Good disco album with a classic song. Some of the songs do seem to drag on for a bit and the intro is incredibly boring
40/100
I am Gen Z, therefore I must hate U2.
No but seriously this provides little to nothing that is memorable and the songs sound washed out most of the time
30/100
I just can't get over Elvis Costello's voice on this. Maybe it's better on other albums but this ain't for me
50/100
My second Elvis album in a row :)
Only this elvis is a decent singer and doesn't bore me to death :)
40/100
Maybe this is a bit too far outside my comfort zone. And this isn't my style.
But just as I was warming up to the record (witty lyrics and awesome instrumentals) in the middle part, the quality took a nosedive towards the end.
Maybe it takes some getting used to but I also don't think the quality is there and variety is basically non-existent.
90/100
This is the second album I've heard before and again I knew beforehand how truly great it is. Fiona Apple is probably my favourite pop singer of all time. And even with how amazing this album is she can do even better and has done so later in her career
60/100
Can't get a lot more 70s than this. I like a lot of the experimental elements here but the first half has some real lows. Overall a good album that could've been great
90/100
This was enchanting. A true classic which I've been meaning to listen to for a long time.
The vocals and production are surprisingly experimental at times. If I had any criticisms it's that the first disc does stand out a fair bit more than the second one.
Overall experience was amazing
40/100
I know about this album's influence. But I can't help but think "There is other bands doing this wayy better" on every song.
Also, just because a song is 15 minutes plus in length does not make it great. In this case, I believe it greatly hurts a record that was somewhat engaging, to have a 5 minute drum solo
80/100
1969. This could come out today and I wouldn't bat an eye. Incredible.
40/100
My first time I got a second album by an artist! And it's U2.
Admittedly it is a tiny bit better than War. But the bands Pop Rock style does little to nothing for me. A real standout is the classic "With Or Without You" which is the only song on here really worth revisiting
30/100
Why is a Compilation album on this list???
Was actually positively surprised but this is still a Compilation album and feels like it.
30/100
This was very 90s and parts of it are actually enjoyable. But the singing is mediocre and the production is very monotone. Also the outro ain't it chief.
SInce this had various different releases and I can't be arsed to find out where to listen to Third/Sister Lover, I just reviewed the original "Third" instead.
Wait, Spotify has a different tracklist with 18 songs? I am so confused. Okay, YT has the original version of Third.
After finally finding the original tracklist on YouTube I listened and it was a good experience. There are some real standouts. And the quality of the song-writing is great. But some of the production choices do sound like a worse version of the Beatles.
60/100
Makes you wanna sit in a log cabin next to a fire.
40/100
When it slaps it slaps but some of the singing doesn't catch me. And the song progression is often weak
70/100
Fun & Groovy - What's not to like?
60/100
My first proper Hard Rock album and a classic at that. At times this has some of the coolest riffs I've ever hear but the songs rarely warrant the runtime for build-up towards a couple of amazing minutes.
40/100
First HipHop album in the list and I was surprised to see it. Skepta is an artist I always liked when hearing him featured but I got tired of his style quickly on his own records.
But I was prepared to give this a fair chance. The songs are all decently structured and Skepta is a decent enough lyricist but the beats are bland most of the time with a few creative outliers.
My main problem is that I feel no structure in the tracklisting itself. The concept seems loose and the tracklisting inconcise.
Overall not an awful showing but nothing I'll spin again.
70/100
As a whole a lot better than the individual songs. It just flows so nicely and is incredibly fun.
60/100
First song actually had me laughing. The satire on here is great and overall this is a good album but some of the tracks do seem to be less original than the standouts.
80/100
One of the best Soul albums I've ever heard
60/100
At times incredibly creative and enchanting. Other times awfully boring. The quality of singing also isn't very consistent throughout the project. Overall the positives definitely outweigh the negatives a fair bit
