In A Silent Way
Miles DavisFor my first album this was a disappointment. Not a big fan of fusion jazz! I can appreciate the talent but not what I want to listen to!
For my first album this was a disappointment. Not a big fan of fusion jazz! I can appreciate the talent but not what I want to listen to!
For my second attempt following jazz fusion I didn’t think it could go worse but it did. Uninspiring vocals and lyrics.
Hard to give this anything but a one! Double album and only one song of interest! Just not my thing - I tried but not for me!
I can appreciate her edgy vocals and lyrics. I liked a few songs but for me - not enough to carry the album. Stylistically, I give her credit for some artistry but just not an album I’d want to sit back and listen to. Depressing lyrics, not much fun on the album. Not very uplifting.I recognize some talent, just not for me.
I tried it - don’t get it - he is just a foul mouth disgusting artist that seems to pretend to be something he isn’t to try to be cool. Not a single song is worth listening to!
Brings me back to the 80’s. Very classic sound from Dire Straights. The album starts off strong with three big hits and then fades a bit. Another strong finish but a little slow through the middle. As an album, all songs go well together stylistically.
So far this is the only Hip Hop I’ve listened to that I can appreciate. The rhymes and the simple beat get a little too monotonous for the entire album, but there are moments that truly made me think I misjudged a genre. I get it more after listening to this, but still isn’t something I want to turn on and listen to regularly. I appreciate the talent and can see how it influenced others.
I really tried to like this one. It started on the right track with 1969. I tried to place it in time and being ahead of its time, but there is so much better music from that time period. There were moments of really great rock guitar but way too much of weak lyrics and vocals for me to appreciate. I scored it with a 3 out of appreciation for the time period but not enough end to end for greatness!
This album has the classic sounds of the mid 60s. Easy to listen to with plenty of variations across songs. I liked it as a very good representation of a time. Kicks was by far the biggest hit on the album, nothing else really rose to that level. Although I’d like to score it higher as I enjoyed the listen - just not enough timeless classics. Although I enjoyed it, it’s also not something I’d go back to just to listen to, so in my mind a very high 3 but not enough to score higher!
This is the iconic album for Michael Stipe and R.E.M. Drive is a classic, no questions about that. The album is well put together from a flow perspective, all songs go together. Just misses my 5 rating as I look for those same elements but more hits to carry you all the way through. I loved it and still love R.E.M. as they were a bad that fully influenced an era and their music stands the test of time!
This is Cat Stevens at his best. Love Wild World. But for me it’s too much of the same and not many hits for a great album! But I do like Cat Stevens and appreciate his style.
Very disappointing! I was hoping for better! I don’t get it! Much ado about nothing!
I love the Who, so many classic hits. This seems like a spoof album and on the list for its controversy - not the music! Their sound rings through but all the songs seem simple and cheeky! I hope some of their better albums make the list! I can see for Miles is the only keeper of the bunch. Mary Anne’s Shaky Hands is funny!
If you like whiny sad depressing tunes, these guys will deliver to your core - if not, meh! Another album and style I don’t get!
There were moments I enjoyed the album, and probably would have scored it higher, but then It droned on and on and seemed like a bunch of random brain farts rather than any genius. I’m glad I listened but would never listen again. Moments of brilliance lost in randomness.
Great soulful Elvis sound throughout. In the Ghetto is best on the album. All very easy to listen to. The soulful sound draws you in. Not a ton of hits but classic Elvis soulful sound. Enjoyed the listen.
Nothing enjoyable about this album.
Just awful. Made me consider - do I really want to waste my time when there are so many bad albums in the 1001. This is offensive on so many levels. Couldn’t listen to whole songs. Still got a headache. I miss what anyone sees in this. Just awful!
Love the sound of the Police and this is distinctly Sting and the Police! Enjoyed the listen. Although there are two great songs on the album - Message in a Bottle and Walking on the Moon there isn’t enough to carry it as a great album. Good listen- enjoyable - just not great.
I am familiar with Black Sabbath and Ozzy but never really listened. This is classic rock sounds through and through. Not something I would listen to everyday but classic hits throughout. Great drum and guitar sequences. I fully appreciate the artistry. So much better than most of the trash on this list!
I just love R.E.M. I love the sound. Not a great album from a hit perspective. Just a great album to listen to.
I was not familiar at all with their work. Great background music. Vocals are clean and good back beats but nothing jumps out at me. Just a lot of the same. Great chill music but I won’t be looking for them on my own!
I really wanted to like this. Easy pleasant music - nothing offensive - but lyrics and vocals were nothing special! I don’t see any innovation here. Just middle of the road vocals and melodies.
Another album I don’t get! Don’t see the influence. I would never pick it up to listen again.
I was not familiar with the artist. I really enjoyed this from the start. Very easy to listen to and would listen again. Just not enough real hits for a classic album, nor something I’d have to listen to again. Surprised by this one! Sad story as I read up on it.
I actually liked the sound and hard rock vibe. Their lyrics are awful. Always surprised by the need to sing expletives and smut. Otherwise - great hard rock vibe!
Not his best album but probably best commercial success!
This album takes you back to a point in time and demonstrates why this is one of the greatest albums ever engineered. Front to back classic hits!
This is one of the greatest all time albums cover to cover!
Really good album and fun when released. Doesn’t stand up to time.
This was a fun album at a point in time. Doesn’t have the stamina for greatness.
Classic by Van Halen! Why you love Van Halen!
This album defines nes why you love Led Zappelin
Love this album!
