White Light / White Heat
The Velvet UndergroundGarbage. Maybe a 1.5???????? Prob not I shouldn't give it any credit
Garbage. Maybe a 1.5???????? Prob not I shouldn't give it any credit
Music is ass, sound quality is worse. This is dreadful. Nick right as always. If I was disenfranchised and pushed to the outer rim of society this would go HARD. I don't blame 'em I'm just sayin' :speak: Iggy Pop more like Iggy Stop!!!
Track rankings: 1. Good Times Bad Times - Inoffensive / 2. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You - Bit unsure. I liked the upbeat instrumentations at parts but didn't particularly care for it otherwise / 3. You Shook Me - I quite liked it at the start but the goofy ahh flute went on WAY too long (over half the song holy shit) / 4. Dazed and Confused - Didn't stand out to me / 5. Your Time is Gonna Come - kinda bad lol / 6. Black Mountain Slide - ??? / 7. Communication Breakdown - This one was pretty decent, best one so far / 8. I Can't Quit You Baby - liked some funky guitar riffs, but did not care for the song. also this guy is freaky ahh / 9. How Many More Times - kinda skipped through bc it was boring but yeah / The only one I added to my playlist was 7, but I will listen tomorrow and might remove idk. I will relisten to 2 tomorrow and might reconsider. Overall this album was largely just inoffensive and I didn't care for it at all, but I also didn't particularly hate it. I would probably give it 2.5/5 stars if I could, but if it's between 2 or 3 I definitely have to go with 2. I may or may not write this meticulous of a review for future albums, we'll see.
Track reviews: 1. The Cisco Kid - Fire, would listen again / 2. Where Was You At - didn't care for this one 3. City, Country, City - I'm not listening to 13 minutes of basic ahh jazz instrumentals it was fine ig / 4. Four Cornered Room - zoom zoom zoom (didn't mind it but not for me) / 5. The World Is A Ghetto - Absolute gas, though maybe a bit too long(?) / 6. Beetles in the Bog - really makes you feel like a beetle in the bog, peak / As a whole the album was very good. I loved tracks 1, 5, and 6, but didn't care for 2 and 4. I wouldn't really listen to track 3, but in a certain context it fits really well with the album so I can understand its inclusion. Even on the stuff that's not for me I can respect the artistry that went into them. I'll give it a 4, but in reality it is probably like a 3.5/5 taken altogether. The good stuff was really good, the stuff I didn't care for brought the project as a whole down a little bit but that doesn't really matter anyways.
"I Got the Six" was a dastardly ahh track :skull: "I like the enchiladas, and the teriaki too" Bland and unremarkable record (addendum: often it's actively bad). Their specific style of blues+rock is not it bro. Had to start skipping tracks for my sanity. The only redeeming factor was that they had some interesting riffs Fucking garbage lmao, never want to hear another ZZ Top song. Very fitting that the wheel of fortune stand user is named "ZZ" after this band because both suck ass. Can't wait for ben to give this a high score for no reason
Track ratings: 1. So Far Away - Certified jam / 2. Money For Nothing - f****t (disco elysium reference). Not for me / 3. Walk of Life - Not exactly for me but better than last. That main riff goes hard tho / 4. Your Latest Trick - ABSOLUTE FIRE / 5. Why Worry? - Pretty good / 6. Ride Across The River - DONKEY KONG ASS TRACK (fire) / 7. The Man's Too Strong - bro managed to sing like a country artist and still make a good song / 8. One World - YOOOO THIS SONG IS FIRE 9. Brothers in Arms - Very good / 50 year olds will really hear "buy the mtv you faggot" and say yeah this is the best song and then never listen to the beautiful and somber track that is 'Your Latest Trick.' Seriously, why is 'Money for Nothing' the second most popular track on this album and one of their most popular tracks of all time???? Very good album. I would probably give it a 5 if it wasn't for tracks 2 and 3. There are also certain songs that I like much more than some of the others that I did still did like but yk
This is triggering my autism. Like I'm not even joking it has certain triggering noises for me I can't stand the sound of this. I'll skip through the rest of it but I'm already checking out at 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' cuz fuck this song specifically. Rest of it seems to be ass
"Lookin' cool Joker!" ahh performance :joy: Maybe a 2.5? It's not bad. Would go crazy as faded out background music in a pool hall or semi-fancy restaurant lmao
I feel nothing towards this. Milk and Pigtail are the best tracks !
maybe a 1.5. Reading nick's review beforehand really elevated this. Bro went from hot ass to mid with riders on the storm (more like 'please end!!')
I have nothing against this album. It was nice background noise while I did my work, but that's about it. I maybe should have paid more attention... 3/5
Music is ass, sound quality is worse. This is dreadful. Nick right as always. If I was disenfranchised and pushed to the outer rim of society this would go HARD. I don't blame 'em I'm just sayin' :speak: Iggy Pop more like Iggy Stop!!!
Once you hear the first song you've heard them all. It's not too bad ig. 2.5
I actually just listened to this album under a week ago, funnily enough. The only song I kinda liked was YYZ. Just did not care for this at all
Garbage. Maybe a 1.5???????? Prob not I shouldn't give it any credit
IT'S TIME FOR TRACK REVIEWS MY FAVOURITE SEGMENT: 1. Badlands - simply fire / 2. Adam Raised a Cain - It's a very good song. I don't think that it gets too preachy, but rather is an effective Biblical allegory for the message he was trying to tell / 3. Something in the Night - gate of steiner sounding ahh song. Good! / 4. Candy's Room - Usually not the biggest fan of personalized anecdotes like this, but this song is too good to pass up on for that reason / 5. Racing in the Street - Tad too long, not my favourite, not bad either, probably a pass tho / 6. The Promised Land - that sax goes ridiculous. Chat is this walk of life BUT GOOD??? AIJOSDFOADOF / 7. Factory - Not bad, not for me / 8-10. Good! / This album occasionally uses dissonant sounds, but they don't overstay their welcome and add to the songs. Sometimes the songs will go quiet. It's unexpected but works super well. This album was gaseous. Even the lesser good songs were fine. Listened to this twice since I didn't pay too much attention the first listen. It was too fire though so I had to do it justice. 4/5 maybe even a 4.5 but who can tell. Great album, anticipating more Springsteen.
Same opinion as Marvin Gaye ig. Maybe better, maybe worse? IDK
Just okay :). Pleasant park is fire.
It's a solid album. I'm not particularly inclined towards many songs, but there also aren't any bad songs. I particularly like "Killer Queen," "Flick Of The Wrist," and "Lily Of The Valley" (does millia rage reference this?)
It's fine, 2.5
I didn't really pay attention but damn this doesn't end
Iggy Stop back at it again with the worst music of all time!! At least the production quality wasn't unlistenable like Raw Power this time. 1 or 1.5
This music cured my insomnia. Leonard Cohen is a genius. 5 stars, bravo
This album is tough to put to words. The best I can do is "almost too stimulating" (although it's kinda overstimulating). It's quite good. I may have to forgive 'my bloody valentine' and give them another try since they are quite similar iirc (and it's one of the only albums I've kept trying to return to). Anyways, I like tracks (playlisted): 1>3>4 I mean it's alright like: 10>6>5=2 Not that good: 9>8>7 Kinda mixed feelings on this one, potentially interested in more from this genre (NOT the velvet underground though)
I genuinely don't think it's possible for Sinatra to make a bad song, but I think it may be a bit hard for him to make an outstanding song. Maybe it's just because he's different than what I usually like? Idk might take this back later. 3 or 3.5 since I'm only particularly inclined to a few of the songs, and the songs I liked were mostly in the first half. I get it does blend together a bit but I particularly liked tracks 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. Like I said though, no bad songs. I could see myself coming back to this album.
'Underground' went ballistic but it did go significantly downhill (or underground, one might say) from there. There's elements that I like on the entire album. The minimalistic and experimental sound is good, and Waits' voice is amazing. From a very brief search this is his most "different" album and there is a lot more of him on the tracker so I'm interested to see if I will like him. Overall, this was alright but doesn't amount to much for me. Probably a 2.5.
Seems like they took inspiration from my G Leonard Cohen in that their music is so fucking boring that I nearly fell asleep.
Actually unlistenable
Check it out now, the funky smell brotha! Surf is up, dude! Barely listenable. Did I need to hear this before I die? 1.5
Live music is meant to be listened to in person. People who listen to live music at home baffle me. "Let me listen to a worse quality version with background noises!!" It's not 1976 anymore pal, get a grip. Each song sounds the same, in a bad way. Even just listening to one song by itself, I feel nothing, it's completely unrecognizable music. I'm going to lose my mind at the time of writing this. I'm going to start skipping through the tracks, I can't stand 80 minutes of this. The music gets a 2/5, but since it's live it gets a 1/5. Also, Doobie Wah is a stand in jojolion and that fight isn't that good and fuck jojolion.
I appreciate music that tries to tell a story or impart a message, but Bob Dylan only does that, as opposed to incorporating it with song. It feels like an audiobook with some mid folk music in the background. Bob Dylan isn't the greatest singer either, so he's literally just *telling* the story (sometimes his voice is bad as well). When he does lean into the music more, it gets worse. The harmonica sucks. I appreciate what he's trying to do and what he does do, but I wouldn't really come back to this, I don't think. It isn't bad though. 2/5, maybe a 2.5. I can't believe there are 6 more of this guy's albums....
It was a vibe, but also a bit unremarkable. Standout tracks were "Rip It Up" and "I Can't Help Myself." 2.5?
meh
It's elevator music + some saxophone but elevator music is fire and I'm tired of pretending it isn't. One of the better albums so far lol. "The Girl From Ipanema" and "Corcovado" are really good. Tracks: 1>5>>3>7>2>>8>4>6. All good (The last 2 tracks are not part of the original album and are from a reissue, ignore them)
I'll cum all over you, I'm called the hit-and-run raper, in anger.
Not as bad as snivilization. Still unlistenable!
This is, in fact, music. Maybe 1.5
??
Bland, shallow, overly cliché, often annoying. Wowie zowie, this sucks! "You know it doesn't bother me at all / That you're only 18 years old / 'Cause I got a little motherly love for you baby" -Zappa. Well he was 26 at the time but still Also why do they get the inbred guy to start yapping on vocals sometimes???
Track reviews: 1. Speed King - Great song (jojolion reference?!?!) / 2. Bloodsucker - Pretty good / 3. Child in Time - I appreciate it for what it is and for the album but I don't care for it too much / 4. Flight of the Rat - not very good / 5. Into the Fire - it's okay / 6. Living Wreck - okay / 7. Hard Lovin' Man - not good / I listened to this twice to get a feel for it. 2.5, but I'll give it the bump to 3 ig. I'm not sure about sound quality, but you should listen to the original version because in the remaster they add this yap to the start of speed king for the album but it isn't part of the song and is clashing.
I like Green River (first track). Bad Moon Rising is probably my second fav but I didn't add. I mean it's alright like-
It doesn't sound bad, but it's quite "basic," so to speak. I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics, but from a glance they didn't seem all that special. I would never listen to this, but I don't have any quarrel with it. 2?? Check global reviews btw, people HATE this guy
I liked the general sound of this album. The last 4 tracks were particularly bad. 'Mildred Pierce' is literal trash. Most of the songs have a prolonged annoying section. I think I like this genre, but this album is not it. Lyrics are major yap. Almost gave it a 3/5 for the sound of it, but after those last 4 tracks it's gotta be a 2/5
I'm on song 5 and this is mind-numbingly bad. I will skip through and try the most popular ones. I suppose it isn't as bad as some other 1/5s so let's say it is a 1.5, but it is borderline unlistenable. Voice is bad.
I wouldn't listen to any of this(*) so it's a 2.5, but it isn't bad at all and they are very clearly quite talented so I'll give it the bump to 3/5 (as opposed to 2/5). *Scarborough Fair is an absolute banger
I've listened to this before, but I gave it a relisten. Track reviews: 1-5. great 6. one of those artistic only tracks that you don't listen to by itself. Not terrible I suppose. 7. didn't add first listen, it's definitely a good song and I might add, but worse than 1-5. 8. didn't add first listen and I stand by that. It's good for the album though! All in all, very good.
Kinda mind-numbing. The only song I knew was the first and I don't really care for it either (but it is the best). Certainly not terrible.
Tracks reviews (my favourite segment): 1. Among the Living - I loved the main parts but then the guy started talking... I don't like the voice and some parts of the song get goofy. The lyrics aren't great either. If the rest of the songs have more of the main musical progression of this song I'm sure they will be great, and this one could have been... / 2. Caught In A Mosh - It was alright. I definitely liked some parts of the song more than others / 3. I Am The Law - bro is not harrier dubois skull (someone forward this joke to talha via email). Song is wack and very underwhelming / 4. ? - same as last but when they start shouting it goes... still mild but yk / 5. A Skeleton In The Closet - okay this album might be wack / 6. Indians - yapping and pretentious. bad / 7-9. skipped through idc anymore I think this album MAJORLY misses the mark on theme/vibe(?), lyrics, voice, and a lot of the music. I'm realizing that I quite like thrash metal, but not this. First song was the best and....well see my review of that. I'll give it a 2 since I enjoyed parts of it ig and I want to see more from this genre potentially
I've tried listening to prog rock in the past and I didn't really care for it. Pink Floyd is kinda bad, I didn't care for Rush (kinda annoying), and didn't hate Yes' album (with Roundabout) but wasn't feeling it. My fault for making assumptions in the limited box that is a genre, but I digress. Track reviews (my favourite segment): I'm not writing the names lmao figure it out. 1. Starts off with an incredible riff, then starts popping off Baccano OP style, then hits you with the Risk of Rain 2 beats, then overloads your circuits, then transitions back to Baccano, edges you for a minute, then builds up back to the main riff again. You always think it's going to pop off, then it never does, making it go ballistic when they finally pop off. All the while throughout the tonal shifts, there is an underlying progression that grounds the song. It's barely controlled chaos, but controlled nonetheless. Really makes you *feel* like a 21st Century Shizoid Man. 2. Big monster vibes here. I never watched the anime but I've heard the ending. The way I see it is, the most insane thing happens then a tonally clashing songs plays as a stark contrast. This is what this feels like compared to track 1. Maybe some persona vibes as well?? Guilty gear even a bit???? Not my favourite song, but fits in well, and you know what it is pretty good. Quite pleasant. 3. The VLR vibes holy man. So immediately significant and ig imposing. Seems to be telling the tale of senseless violence for reasons unknown to those fighting and maybe even those demanding violence. A tale as old as time, and this song takes a personal approach detailing the suffering of man. "The wall on which the prophets wrote / Is cracking at the seams" is such an amazing line. In other words, the foundation of their beliefs and hopes for the future are being fundamentally disintegrated and (in the context of the song) there is no ideological recourse, just confusion ("confusion will be my epitaph"). I could probably keep going but the point is that this song is actually amazing. 4. The beginning of Moonchild is somber, beautiful, and tragic. Not sure what the lyrics mean but my best and only guess is that she's waiting for someone to come home (from war) but "the sun" will never rise again hence why they are a moonchild. The next 6 minutes is some quiet, fleeting, and ultimately abstract instrumentation. I think it's mysterious and interesting but falls into the category of "good for the album as a piece of art but not as good for normal listening. To its credit, the album is so generally good and cohesive that it works for me more than most, which it really needs because this is so long. The next 90 seconds is more of the same but a bit more musically pronounced. The final 90 seconds is even more pronounced. 5. Not too sure on the meaning of the lyrics, but they seem to be an extension of some of the themes from Epitaph contextualized in this world King Crimson have created. Better worldbuilding than Arcane season 2 :speak:. I didn't have too much to say about this song, but that doesn't mean it is worse, in fact it's amazing. --- This album is literally peak fiction and it's just music :sob:. The huge one in Moonchild aside, there are a lot of "art" moments but actually not really because they are still really good somehow since the songs support such a strong atmosphere or something like that. p.s. since I forgot to mention: some of the lyricism and even sometimes the tone of voice reminds me of black sabbath if it wasn't ass, pretentious, or "random." p.p.s. definitely listen to this album with mostly full attention, it's worth it. Not sure if I'll regret this and think it's a bit lower later, but I think this is the first 5/5 album. Super cohesive and it goes absolutely ballistic. No misses either (more or less) which is a big factor. I listened to it twice before rating it. Not checking over this so hopefully the review is good.
First song was the best. It doesn't amount to much for me but is better than a lot of the slop on this tracker. Let's go with 2.5.
First song was unlistenable (but funny) so I made a proactive decision for my sanity to stop listening..
Only good song is Song 2. Another review called the album "a blur," and funny as it is, yeah. Braindead is another word that works. Song 2 is pretty great though fr.
I was prepared to give it a 2.5, then looked at the songs and noticed I was only on track 7/18. I do appreciate it as a piece of rap history and at times it was refreshing and chill. Some of the lyrics were wack, but in a hype way. I don't really like how 'static' old rap is.
Title track is an absolute classic and obviously great. Touch Too Much is damn good. That's about it for this album, but I wouldn't say everything else is *terrible* either.
Tracks reviews (my favourite segment): 1. Welcome to the Jungle - This is the most unserious song, and I love it for that, but in reality it isn't that good lol / 2. It's So Easy - It's a groove but the lyrics are vain and dogshit. In a funny way though. Very unserious song. / 3. Nightrain - what the fuck did he mean by this??? :skull: ALSO UNSERIOUS, I'm seeing a pattern... / 4. Out Ta Get Me - unserious, you get the idea / 5. Mr. Brownstone - idk man same thing / 6. Paradise City - I've obviously heard this before and it is of course also unserious but not really in the same way idk. Could go hard on a roadtrip on the radio but not really my jam. / 7. My Michelle - lmao / 8. Think About You - When you take away the funny you get corny lyrics and mid music / 9. Sweet Child O' Mine - Probably the most unique song so far (and the best). It isn't the greatest song ever and is the definition of overrated, but honestly, it's aight. 10. You're Crazy - he's yapping up a storm on this one 11. Anything Goes - LMFAO (I was going to leave the review at that but I wasn't paying attention at the start and then noticed that the squeaky sound is him fucking on a squeaky ass bed which is hilarious) / 12. Rocket Queen - they gotta be joking this ts istg / Overall, as my track reviews make obvious, this album is very unserious. That is not necessarily a bad thing, though here's what I have to say: I think that GNR makes funny songs on purpose, but I also find them more funny and the serious parts funny because, in their nature, I can't take them seriously. I think it's partly due to Axl's voice. When you take away the lyrics (which are really bad btw, but funny) you get very mid rock. It isn't good, but I really enjoyed it anyways, laughed quite a bit. I'm going to give it a 3, but you have to take it with context.
Billie Jean > Beat It >> Human Nature > Thriller >> everything else. I knew the most popular 3 and they are probably some of the best music ever made. I was caught off guard by Human Nature. I could take or leave the rest, but it's still MJ so it's good. 3/5, maybe 3.5?
Skibidi toilet before skibidi toilet. Elevator music from before elevators. Modern art before modern times. Yeah, I'd listen again.
Eh, it wasn't so bad. I like Venus.
No bad songs, but I only really liked 3 of them. Compared to the first album by Bruce where I liked most of them, I think this album is quite a bit worse. Born in the USA is pretty good, Cover Me is amazing, and Downbound Train is pretty good (better than Born). No bad songs, but these were the ones I like. lmk if there's any I should consider relistening to, ben.
