The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Nov 05 2024

Sounds a lot like ambient store music, or restaurant music, or music that would go in a big box office movie that I don’t want to see. Vocals are beautiful, tonally, some fun guitar riffs in the background but I have no idea of the structure of any of these songs are and I find that I just want to skip to the next song/turn it off. There are a lot of different styles blended in and I think that to me, is very overwhelming.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Nov 06 2024

Love this album. I enjoy it even more as I’ve gotten older. David Gilmour just ripping that strat. So good.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Nov 07 2024

Lots of familiar songs, upbeat, good vocals. Very blues/early rock and roll. Can definitely hear what the Beatles were influenced by.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Nov 08 2024
Heroes by David Bowie
Nov 09 2024

Not a big Bowie fan, love the song heroes though. The instrumental tracks were strange

Violator by Depeche Mode
Nov 11 2024

Fun, very “futuristic”’of the time.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Nov 12 2024

Bring in the funk! So fun. Really enjoyed this, have listened to parliament before but not as familiar with this album.

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Nov 13 2024

I like this, listened to it a couple of times but not my favorite. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could I think. Seems to be a pretty heavy album lyric wise, with more traditional, late 60s “hippie” type Americana, despite them being Canadian. Which isn’t always my favorite genre.

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Nov 14 2024

I suspect this is actually beautiful and makes you feel, but I simply cannot listen to an album where every album is this depressing and somber. The instrumental’s are very ethereal and well mixed, the lyrics are poetry but I’m having a very hard time listening to something so bleak, especially without being in the mood. I struggle to rate something like this because musical and lyrically It seems exceptional but my personal taste is interfering in my ability to enjoy it.

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Nov 15 2024

Not my cup of tea. Gave me blood on the tracks vibes, which I love, but I kept thinking I’d rather listen to Dylan. Well written lyrics, beautiful vocals but was not in the mood for a sad/slow album. Has potential but just to listen for 24 hours for the first time I didn’t resonate with me.

The Band by The Band
Nov 16 2024

Nice album, couple hits that still get plenty of play time on the radio.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Nov 17 2024

One of my favorite albums of all time. Absolutely love this. Lots of big hits/we’ll know songs.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Nov 19 2024

Sort of bland, some nice beats/instrumentals but nothing stuck out to me, nothing particularly catchy. Vocals, while being sung by different vocalists were mostly forgettable, nothing really drawing me and keeping me engaged.

Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers
Nov 22 2024

Not sure what’s going on here. Feels Ween adjacent but I enjoy ween more? Not vibing with this at all.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Nov 23 2024

Amazing

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Nov 25 2024

Great album, very bluesy. Excellent vocals by Jagger

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Nov 27 2024

Incredible vocals, way more strings and other instruments in the background filling out the tracks.

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Dec 06 2024

Hit after hit, beautiful arrangements and production. Excellent vocals and instrumentals.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Dec 12 2024

Brit pop rock, but with good guitar riffs, almost psychedelic. Better than I expected

Is This It by The Strokes
Dec 14 2024

Love this album, one of my all time favorites. No skips. Fun guitar riffs, great vocals

Van Halen by Van Halen
Dec 16 2024

Absolute banger of an album. Insane guitar from EVH, DLR has incredible vocals. Incredible album that set up a 5+ year run for epic releases for VH. Changed the way guitarists thought about playing the guitar.

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Dec 19 2024

Really amazing instrumentals, beautiful orchestration. Way better than I thought. I was thinking cheesy 70s, but this was much better than my preconceived notions.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Dec 27 2024
Blood, Sweat & Tears by Blood, Sweat & Tears
Jan 03 2025

Wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. Really amazing sound, crazy jazz with some rock mixed in. High quality sound, excellent musicians, it gave me like late 70s vibes but then I saw it was from 1968 and was more impressed.

Darklands by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Jan 05 2025
Third by Soft Machine
Jan 10 2025
Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Jan 14 2025

Sick blues album. Great guitar.

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney
Jan 16 2025

Fun music, annoying vocals

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Jan 19 2025

Album was way darker than I remember, but incredible. Really good writing, great beats, feels timeless honestly. I guess bigger fans of Eminem would have more insight to the whole Shady character/storyline but I don’t know enough about that and the discography to speak much about that, but It’s an interesting thing/narrative to pay attention to in this second album.

Hearts And Bones by Paul Simon
Jan 20 2025

Love PS. Was waffling between a 3 and 4 on this one. Feel it’s like a 3.5. Lovely album.

Jan 30 2025

Giving this a 3 because I can’t really imagine ever seeking this out to listen to it again but I actually enjoyed it. Great story telling, simple but complementary music, nice voice.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jan 31 2025

4.5 for me. Love this album. Great guitar playing.

A Short Album About Love by The Divine Comedy
Feb 03 2025

Weird one. It’s like crooner/60s cheesy pop. I didn’t find it offensive, the orchestration was kind of cheesy but fun. The lyrics, same. I’m not sure if this is supposed to be funny or ironic or something? I went back and forth between a 2 and a 3. I think it’s mostly a 2.5.

All Directions by The Temptations
Feb 04 2025

Some songs I liked, some I didn’t. Not much flow to the album. I’ve never been a huge Motown type fan, but I recognize the talent and quality of music. Great vocals and bass.

Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow
Feb 06 2025

This didn’t connect with me at all. I think objectively it’s well produced, decent music and backing band, but the vocals and lyrics and just generally didn’t hit with me.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 08 2025

Love this album. No skips.

Yeezus by Kanye West
Feb 12 2025

Conflicted about this one as Kanye continues to be a total piece of shit, self proclaimed Nazi. However, from a musical standpoint, this album is very good. When it first came out I listened to it regularly for over a year. This was my first Kanye album I listened to. Aggressive album, well produced, certainly harder to listen to in hindsight without tainted thoughts. I feel compelled to give it a 1 simply bc of who Kanye is, but I’ll grade based on music.
