Quintessential 90s

The 60s were wild.

When the people who try really hard to rate albums well and even go as far as to list songs they liked can't even find a good selection, you know the album is shite. Sorry to Heaven 17, who I am sure made waves somewhere, but no thanks.

Sad for the good artists on here but trash deserves a 1.

Fairly boring aside from the hits. I expected a little more but I can also tell why they were so hype - and why they've fallen off from the early 00's success.

The vocals are wonderful but the background just doesn't match. Secretly is more what I expect from the backing track - consistent, and supportive. Most of these tracks sound uninspired, as one rater put it.

I just know Taylor Swift was seething when this album came out.

To believe music needs to have meaningful, deep, poetic lyrics to be considered worthy is incredibly limiting. Is this kind of generic? Yeah. Are the lyrics simple and maybe not the greatest? Sure. That doesn't make it BAD. It's decent poppy feel good music that you can slap on in the background while you wash the dishes. Mother is beautiful, Slow Burn isn't lyrically strong but still a good song, Love is a Wild Thing is cute, High Horse is fun if you've ever known someone who believes they're king shit. Pop is fun, no matter the sub genre.

Not sure how Flavor Flav had a career after this, but Chuck D's flow is fabulous. I Don't Wanna Be Yo Niga is probably the worst song ever written and recorded, even though I completely understand what they were attempting to do.
