Illmatic by Nas
Jan 07 2025

I’ve heard this album before and really enjoyed it. First time listening on my new headphones though and being able to hear more of the intricacies and more oomph with the base felt like listening to it for the very first time. Halftime stood out to me on this listen as my favorite.

Different Class by Pulp
Jan 08 2025

Not my genre of music but I liked it for what it is. Probably a one and done listen. I can’t pinpoint any exact criticisms but I can’t see how this could be named the 6th greatest album of all time.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Jan 09 2025

Didn’t expect to recognize Somebody to Love. The production on this so far is really cool & groovy. Damn, Today is romantic as hell, first save off the album. Really enjoyed this one!

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Jan 10 2025

Started off really strong and I was thinking I’d rate it a 4, but it kinda lost its momentum towards the end for me. Though it was an awesome album to listen to with snowfall outside.

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jan 11 2025

I was really excited when I saw this come up bc I know of the one song from the Harry Potter movie. But this album didn’t jump out to me in any special way. A lot of the songs sounded the same to me.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Jan 12 2025
Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Jan 13 2025

Not the sound I was expecting AT ALL. It doesn’t feel like a “rock” album until Medication. Burning Wheel as the opener had my mouth agape. Crazy soundscape, I was transported to a semi-psychedelic world.

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra
Jan 17 2025

Didn’t expect to be giving a Frank Sinatra album 2 stars but it was just such a slog to get through. Every song sounded the same to me

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Jan 18 2025

Kinda reminded me of Dave Matthews Band but more easy-listening. Nice and calming but didn’t have anything special to bump up the rating.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Jan 20 2025

This album kinda proved to me that I’m just not a fan of psychedelic rock music like this. There were a few tracks here and there that I liked, like Fancy and Sunny Afternoon. Loved the horn on Dead End Street. But I know for I fact I won’t listen to this album again, thus a 2.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Jan 22 2025

Strong 4. That was an awesome ride

Jan 23 2025

Second Talking Heads album in a row! I prefer Remain in Light but this is just as good. Probably the least 70s sounding album I’ve ever heard.

Hot Shots II by The Beta Band
Jan 24 2025

100% not what I was expecting.m, sound-wise. Very unique sound for the time which is why it’s getting a 3 despite me probably not ever listening to it again.

The Clash by The Clash
Jan 25 2025

100% not what I was expecting based off the wiki info. Kinda into it at first but then it got annoying, especially the last song. Probably wouldn’t listen again but giving a 3 as it’s got such a unique sound.

Jan 26 2025

The guitar solo song knocked this down to a 2 as it was the worst song out of all these albums combined. The rest of the album is nice and I liked the jazzy, big band feel for a rock album but the guitar solo really ruined it for me.

Arise by Sepultura
Jan 27 2025

Thought every metal album would be a 1 as I can’t stand the genres, but giving this a 2 as I actually didn’t hate it!

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jan 29 2025

Really loved the bluesy, country style tracks. Didn’t care for the high energy, rock style tracks. 3 stars for how hit or miss it was with me, but I understand why this album is beloved now.

Feb 01 2025

This album totally blew me away. I rolled my eyes when I first saw prog rock and 1969, but every track surprised me in the instrumentation, the soundscapes. As soon as the title track started, I knew it would be a 5. Loved every single track and the big cohesive world they built within this album. I can’t think of anything else like it.

Solid Air by John Martyn
Feb 02 2025

Not a bad album at all, but none of it resonated with me and was quite forgettable

A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren
Feb 03 2025

This could’ve been released today! Soo engaging and unique

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Feb 04 2025

I wanted to finish this album but I couldn’t, it was so grating to my ears and did not like any song.

The Trinity Session by Cowboy Junkies
Feb 05 2025

Beautiful beautiful album, loved every song

Sister by Sonic Youth
Feb 06 2025

I guess I’m not as grunge as I thought. Not terrible, but didn’t have any song resonate with me whatsoever.

Feb 10 2025

Couldn’t bare to give this album 2 stars, it’s Sam Cooke! But this album went by uneventfully for me.

evermore by Taylor Swift
Feb 12 2025

I liked willow, and Aaron’s production. Bon iver’s inclusion ruined the end of the album for me. Normally I give 2 stars to albums I know I won’t listen to again, but giving this a 3 as it was more cohesive in sound than other albums I’ve given a 2.

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Feb 15 2025

Simple perfection. I’d heard this one before through and it never disappoints.

S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things
Feb 16 2025

Never heard an artist utilize the left/right channels like they did here. This was so unique and I feel like there’s so much to gain with relistens.

Play by Moby
Feb 17 2025

Iconic

Red Dirt Girl by Emmylou Harris
Feb 19 2025

This one grew on me. I didn’t understand why it was in this list until I got to Red Dirt Girl. First song I really liked was Jai fait tout. I enjoyed her storytelling, she’s leagues ahead of T.swift.

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Feb 20 2025

I really really liked this one!!

Fred Neil by Fred Neil
Feb 23 2025

pretty, but kind of forgettable

Junkyard by The Birthday Party
Feb 24 2025
Feb 25 2025

I thought the album would be front loaded seeing all the hits at the beginning, but this is just fun and good all the way through.

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter
Feb 26 2025

Thought I wouldn’t like it after hearing the first two tracks, but it got better and the second half of the album slapped. Helicopter was my favorite!

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Feb 27 2025

I like A Deeper Understanding a lot more than this album, but this is still a solid album. The production and vocals feel comforting

One World by John Martyn
Feb 28 2025

So unique and interesting, but it didn’t click with me and I found myself drifting off in thought and not paying attention.

Queen II by Queen
Mar 01 2025

Surprised I hadn’t previously heard a single song from this album. The production is outstanding.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Mar 04 2025

It’s a very beautiful album, there were a couple tracks that were skips on my second listen. It left me wanting more, which can be a god thing, but it’s why it’s a 3 instead of a 4.

The Sounds Of India by Ravi Shankar
Mar 06 2025

It was a fascinating listen, and I definitely did not hate it. But being so far removed from western music, it’s not an album I’m going to be going back to again and again. The explanations Ravi gives before each track was great and I did learn a lot, but it made the album feel like one of the children records that teach music

Bossanova by Pixies
Mar 07 2025

it’s not a bad album by any means, but not a single song spoke to me

Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Mar 12 2025

John Finn’s wife bumped this album from a 2 to a 3. Those strings are sensational

Harvest by Neil Young
