How can you not like an album that single-handedly started a federal war on censorship in music? Prince at his Prince-iest, horny, fun, and funky, this album will forever be one of my favorites. 10/10 baby I’m a STAR, and fuck Tipper Gore.
No hate to the Allman Brother's, but isn't this album just a bunch of white guys playing blues music? The music is good, I'd throw this album on the turntable on a Sunday morning while doing the dishes, but it's not nearly as memorable as anything by Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, or other blues and roots great. I guess you get some psychedelic rock weaseling it's way in to make it more unique, but not enough to make it feel like they're not just cosplaying as black musicians and making their songs 4x longer for no reason.
Once upon a time, this accessible, punchy, and fun album made mainstream music lovers feel a little (undeservingly) underground while they listened to Take Me Out on their lime green iPod nano. Is this the greatest album of all time? No. Is this album filled head to tail with bops that perfectly encapsulate pop indie rock music in the early 2000s? Absolutely. Bonus points for making us all brush up on our WWI history circa 2004.
God I love this album. The dramatic lyrics are a perfect match for Robert Smith's voice and framed beautifully by dreamy and dark melody. There will never be a moment where this album isn't cool. Just place me in a dark cave filled with bats and let me listen over and over.
Del La Soul FOR THE SOUL. Lyrics that are sometimes serious, sometimes silly, but always well-crafted. The music production is unreal. Upon this re-listen I’ll have ‘The Magic Number’ stuck in my head for days.
Top tier air guitar album, but Ayn Rand can go fuck herself
Listen, I just really don’t like The Eagles. I gave this album a fair shake, but I was miserable for every single second of it.
Love Freddie Mercury, love Brian May, love Queen. I feel like this album you get some influence outside of their usual sound, as well as some absolute classically QUEEN songs. Not my favorite album from them, but a good listen nonetheless.
This album gave me whiplash. I’m too confused to hate it, but didn’t vibe with anything enough to love it.

I like this album more than I remember. Still, I wish more songs sounded less like ‘Every Breath You Take’ and more like ‘Mother.’ Maybe I’m just a freak.
There will never be a time, place, or occasion where I won't be happy to hear this album. Every single song is great. Accessible and catchy while being interesting and fresh even 50 years later. Love T-Rex.
Quintessential album of the genre retrospectively named Indie Sleeze. Really loved the singles off this album, ‘Crystalised’ and ‘Night Time’ when it first came out, but honestly got kind of bored halfway through on this re-listen. Still, I guess it makes a part of me want to smudge my eyeliner and light up a Parliament in some hipsters shitty basement.
Alright this one is hard to be subjective on considering it’s a very personal album about a journey with grief. That being said, musically it’s not very involved, and it more of a spoken word album than a music album. Unfortunately, the poetry just didn’t resonate with me, and I didn’t find it to be that great. I appreciate putting something personal like this into the world, but it just hit mediocre for me.
What can I say about this album that hasn’t already been said? A true masterpiece.
I really appreciate the fact that this album has a lot of different influences/elements used throughout while remaining cohesive. That being said, I really don't seem myself craving any of these songs, or the album as a whole at any point in the future. I respect Damon Albarn and the creativity of this album, but it just doesn't match my personal taste.
HOMETOWN HEROES! In true Beach House fashion, each song stands alone, but also blends perfectly into the next to make you feel like you're floating in a dreamland. Bloom and Depression Cherry have more of my heart, but this album was far from a waste of my time.
This was a first listen for me and I enjoyed quite a bit. Chill electronica with some interesting elements sprinkled throughout. I’ll definitely listen again.
Honestly, this is the first time I’ve listened to this album in full. It’s so good. I was prepared to find it overrated, and there are a couple songs on the second half that I feel could have been left off, but this album deserves every accolade it’s been given. Hill’s artistry combines several genres seamlessly across the every single song. Glad I finally listened to it.
Not bad, but kind of forgettable.
If the dad from Gossip Girl was in a real band, I'm pretty sure it would be Grant Lee Buffalo. Maybe two songs I grooved with, but overall really flat. Please take these lyrics far, far away from because they remind me of being held hostage on a date by a mediocre white guy playing a guitar at me. Also, -1000 points for an absolutely trash band name.
2nd half of album got weird, wish the whole thing was like that.
It’s CCR.
Great voice and story telling. Kind of feels like it should be an album for kids in the 50's.
It’s Bjork.
It’s a classic.
A quintessential punk album. Doesn’t take itself too seriously, but still serious enough. Blast it, now.
A really fantastic album. It hit me halfway through that I would believe this album was put out last year, because it just holds up that well. Interesting, creative, dreamy, and perfect for a rainy day.
Not my favorite Cure album, but damn do I love me some Robert Smith.
I love that there are albums you listen to that just sound like the time they were released. This album is good, but lags a little here and there. There are definitely some great bops that I love though.
It's so interesting how each of the individual Beatles have such a distinct sound that come together (haha) and mesh with each other to make something truly mind-blowing. This album, sounds so specifically Paul. It's a little poppy and straight-laced, but it does completely showcase his undeniable talent as a songwriter. Even though this album lacks the magic that the Beatles have together, that is no reason not to recognize Band On The Run's merit. Stop being a hater and sing along to Jet in your kitchen.
Club Kid with a sprinkle of reggae. Fun listen, although I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy it more with some MDMA.
I have a great distaste for RHCP except for Flea, but this album is fun in the way that hair bands are fun. It's a good time but if you listen too long everything starts the same. I wish I could ignore the members of this band, their fans, and how many times I've heard 'Scar Tissue' on the fucking radio to give it a truly objective rating, but alas, here we are.
Pretty standard 60s rock.
This is an album that I always have a good time listening to. It's both chill and exciting at the same time. When listening, I can't exactly put my finger on what makes it good, but somehow it always just feels cool. Sounds incredible early 2000s but not tired in any way.
It’s absolutely insane to me that bands like this helped stoke the satanic panic witch hunt in the 1980s. These lyrics are so over the top it’s basically camp. Is this an album I want to listen to everyday? No, but I appreciate it for its significance on the genre, and for the fact that it freaked out a bunch of people who didn’t get the bit. Hail Satan.
Love Led Zeppelin and this album is a fucking classic
I love that Roxy music is a weird band and I love that this album at times sounds like Jason Sagel’s Dracula musical from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Sounds like the bottom of a bar bathroom and I love it.
Pretty average grunge-y rock
Pretty fun album, especially while you're sitting in traffic. First song is fuckin' banger.
This entire album feels soulless and I will not elaborate further.
Aw yeah I fuck with some Carole King. She wrote some of the best songs in past 50 years. A true artist, and this album showcases that. Hit after hit baby.
Drugs are a hell of a drug. Why does this album sound like it belongs as a soundtrack to a 1980's made for TV movie about cops in Miami?
A++++++++++++++++++++++ THIS ALBUM IS A MASTERPIECE I WILL TAKE NO NOTES!!! Top 5 favorites album of all time. I don't think there will ever be a time in my life when this album doesn't swallow me up whole. When I die please bury me in A Love Supreme.
Solid R&B album with some really beautiful lyricism.
Stick to disco Barry Gibb
4 stars just for how fucking influential this album is
There’s just nobody quite like Queen Aretha
I don't trust people who don't like the B-52's. This entire album is so campy and fun, but the music is so fucking GOOD. The perfect balance of ridiculousness and sincere talent.
LOVE U IGGY
The fact that you have Johnny Cash showcasing his incredible voice and talent on this album is enough to earn it 5 stars, but when you consider the context it just gets even more incredible. To the Man In Black I salute you.
it's groovy.
Beautiful but sad Beck :(
When it’s good it’s really fucking good. When it’s not good it’s pretentious and meandering. I think These Days makes up for most of the sins itself though.
It’s Alright Ma is underrated. Love Bobby and love this album.
Solid folk album, I enjoyed
