The Doors
The DoorsI remember the whole album from high school. 27 seems so young now. His voice is so powerful and mature. I think his psyche was not as mature. It’s an amazing album. The End is quite dramatic, even more melodramatic to aged ears.

This screams 1960s to me and I am absolutely certain that whatever radio I heard as a preschooler was full of Dusty. It’s lovely and makes me think of gogo boots and miniskirts and my mother’s hair teased up on the top of her head. Sweet and sweet.
Well, she’s got an amazing voice and I’m afraid a long line of breathy singers wanted to be her. I won’t remember a single song and I think that may be my lack of sophistication because it’s clear she’s thoughtful and talented and nonetheless it would be background music for me.
Well.. yes. Each song gets better and better. Wish I had spent more time with him in the 80s
I need more time to sit with this but wow there’s a lot more to the Kinks than Days and Lola which are great songs. A lot harder rock than I thought. I need to listen to these narratives in the songs.
Well, I know this album well. His voice is so smooth and gorgeous, and it’s almost but not quite enough to overcome the ‘you pretty girl , I’m your man and I’ll complain if I don’t get you’. Can’t argue with the voice, have to argue with the era. But we’re on our way back to that, aren’t we?
Something purely joyous about women harmonizing and supporting in a generous way. Everyone gets their part, weaving in and out, peacefully. I don’t like country’s past tendency to mourn for men, but really it’s about the women and the sound isn’t it? Let’s not be fooled.
It’s okay. Again, probably need more time with it. Sort of feel like I’ve heard that sound before…
I wouldn’t identify myself as an electronic music fan but I definitely liked this. Fun to dance around to. Lord this band worked themselves nearly to death didn’t they? I guess one did die. Lots of fun in this album!
Surprisingly cool. I never liked heavy metal and yet now I can hear the masterf solos on both drums and guitar. I’m going to listen again! Also reminds me of Jack Black and Spinal Tap which makes me smile!
Oo jazz baby. So cool, I dig your mellow tunes. Great after dinner smooth… I like it baby, bring it on in! Get your mid century on.. two weeks after my worldwide debut. I give it four stars!
I had no idea how young he was, how spontaneous the talent. His voice is one of the instruments. I would say his music was the earliest exposure I had to black culture of any kind. I was one of those Sesame Streeters.
