The CharlatansOkay, late 90s retro vibes. Not really charlatans
Okay, late 90s retro vibes. Not really charlatans
Interesting music to the older end of what is acceptable to a modern ear. Probably won't return to this one
Iconic album Lenny Bruce was not afraid
Some bangers, but some fillter
Simply wonderful
Some bangers, some filler
This album _SLAPS_ I love that big band sound
What an opening track. You're immediately propelled into QOTSA's space. I've listened to this album many times so it's well trodden ground, but this still feels fresh nearly 30 years from release. I love how crunchy the guitar is. The last song is great, until it isn't and you are forced to either endure the awful noises or turn off the album.
Ehhh... This is the first time I've listened to a full Beastie Boys album and it's a real mixed bag. The few I knew already from being in rotation on the radio/ music channels when I was.a teen.are great, but there's some proper garbage in here.
I've listened to this album from start to finish possibly hundreds of times, but it must close to 10 years since I last did so so I'm interested to find out how it hits is 2025... Conclusion: still slaps hard
Wipeout: the album. Makes me want to play Wipeout.
I really didn't vibe with this It's like punk rock but lame and without energy. Won't listen to this again
Classic. Iconic. Probably the last truly great Bowie album.
This made me realise that I've never sat down and listened to a Sex Pistols album. The first song kind of slaps, I'm (for some reason) surprised by this. I think I just plain like this album
I really didn't care for the first half but the second half had some great ballads
I can't help but wonder what 1988 Ice Cube would think about 2025 Ice Cube, star of War of the Worlds (2025)
Boring ambient music. Fine as a background to some other, more interesting, activity.
A bit uneven, but the highs are so very high
I don't know that I've ever heard a Paul Weller song before today (I presumably have, on the radio or when out an about), but I found myself really enjoying this album. I'd describe it as really good dad rock; very much inspired by folk. A+++ Would Paul Weller again
So, I hate the country and western sound. This did not dissuade me of this feeling. This is the first album that I didn't listen through (hell, I couldn't get through the first minute of the first track before hitting skip). Just awful.
What can I say? It's Frankie
It's jazz, I don't know what else to say
Wonderful album, was already a fave so I don't have anything much more to say about it
Some great tracks but not MJ's best album IMO
Another iconic album. The first three tracks are just outstanding but the rest of the album doesn't quite live up to that opening.
Inoffensive background music but no single track stood out or was particular notable to me
Great music to lay wooden flooring to A little folksy, a little gospel Makes me feel like a carpenter
Worth it for "My Sweet Lord" alone, though no other track comes close to hitting that high.
An okay album, I really don't have much to say about it
Whatever I don't get glam Why was the 70s? I think I hate this
The titular track was one of mom's favourites so this hits a bit different. Very mum music. Would pair well with some Kennny G or Simply Red.
Boring old man rock. Fine as background music but it doesn't have anything that excites me or speaks to me on an emotional level
Nah, not for me
Another album that I've listened to from start to finish dozens of times. Sets the stage for the Flaming Lips' most commercially successful period and lays the groundwork for their best album (Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots). Every track is at least an 8/10 with several 10/10s. Race for the Prize, The Spark that Bled, and Waiting for Superman poke their heads just a little above the rest of this album.
I've never sat down and intentionally listened to Amy Winehouse. Her music was everywhere in the early 'oughts though, and I recognise much of this album so I assume that many of these tracks were released as singles. This lady could FUCKING SING, it's such a shame how difficult and short her life was. I can't help but wonder if things would have played out differently in the modern media landscape which seems like spiteful towards successful women performers than back then.
Yep, it's the Killers best album A couple of songs I quite like on here, the rest aren't awful background music.
The rap equivalent of Simply Red? Not awful, but not my bag. Easy listening rap? It's putting me to sleep
Fine background music I guess
Nah
Boring old stoner rock I don't hate it as background music
