Immigrés by Youssou N'Dour
Oct 17 2025

Although only 4 songs, the album takes me on a journey with many stops along the way to taste and experience a range of human emotions. I love the eclecticism of instruments, beats, and voices throughout the album. I certainly detect his influence in some of Peter Gabriel's music of this era as well.

Oct 20 2025

I don't usually care for live albums, but this is crispy as hell. Sound quality is fantastic. I get it.

Rio by Duran Duran
Oct 21 2025

Ill admit i have a lot of assumptions about this music and the people who listen to it, but I'll give it a chance. After listen: boring and safe, not into it.

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden
Oct 22 2025

Meh, not into the vocals. I get that it was probably groundbreaking for its time, but I personally can't get into it.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Oct 23 2025

Pleasantly surprised by this. Reminds me a bit of the Decemberists, like a pale brass folksy color. Scaled-back/simple version of 2010s folk rock revival.

Haunted Dancehall by The Sabres Of Paradise
Oct 30 2025

Pleasantly surprised by how much i loved this

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Nov 03 2025

Very chill and created some good vibes. J liked it too

The Specials by The Specials
Nov 04 2025

Do I detect the origins of ska? 'Do The Dog' feels like I'm watching America's Funniest Home Videos Also sensing Jimi Hendrix

Is This It by The Strokes
Nov 06 2025

What a great first album. It's fun and easy to listen to

Nov 11 2025

One of my favs. I can sense vestiges of their older albums like Being There or Summerteeth, and also a look forward toward Sky Blue Sky

The Message by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
Nov 12 2025

Synth out the gate! Lots of simple lyrics and hype energy, in a classic funky alt 80s way. I've heard "It's Nasty" before for sure. Scorpio is a bop. I'm sensing some early Daft Punk in the vocals.

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Nov 13 2025

Classic, but it feels a bit repetitive

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Nov 21 2025

I've heard some of these melodies before, but didn't know they were Morrissey. Pretty good stuff, and probably wouldve been better if I were to have listened to it in the 80s. Id give it a 3.5 if I could.

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Nov 27 2025

I get that this is an absolute classic, and he was appealing to the crowd of inmates at Folsom, but I wasn’t overly moved by it

Nov 28 2025

Entertaining, but doesn't feel groundbreaking to me, but I don't know the context of when it was released.

Dec 01 2025

Much better late at night under certain conditions, but considered a classic for a reason

Green by R.E.M.
Dec 02 2025
Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters
Dec 04 2025

NGL I hear how Djo was influenced by this album. His voice and singing style is very similar. I'm surprised how much I like it.

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Dec 16 2025

ngl this felt pretty corny, repetitive, and basic.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Dec 19 2025

One of the greatest contributions to the indie revival during the aughts.

Dummy by Portishead
Dec 23 2025

Love this album. It's haunting and ahead of it's time. I honestly hear their influence on a lot of recent pop like older Billie Eilish.

Vulnicura by Björk
Dec 24 2025

Very cinematic and dramatic, but I like it. I've noticed that most of the Icelandic artists I've heard have an underlying similar sound. I'd give 3.5/5 if I could, because this heavily depends on what mood I'm in.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Dec 31 2025

Two songs in and I'm surprised this was released in the late 70s because it sounds like it belongs in a Shrek movie.

Palo Congo by Sabu
Jan 01 2026

Lotsa hand drumming, which I don't hate.

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Jan 21 2026

I hear the punk and metal influences of the 80s, but it's not my cup of tea.
