1001 Albums Summary

Background music

Love the album since the first year of uni. Listened again today but was ruined by Microsoft dynamics being shit

never got the clash. better punk out there

Is this just early Radiohead with verses and choruses? Yes. Have Coldplay been living off the goodwill from this album for the past 25 years? Yes.

Just feel bad for george harrisson. Not bad, just didn’t speak to me

Whack this on a nice soundsystem in the lounge in the background, you'll have a nice time with it. Though the entire thing feels painfully predictable. The do almost everything right, but nothing magic.

It's a fun pop album with some good songs. Yet it is two unfocused and you could really tighten this album by cutting a fair amount of songs. Really could probably closer to a 3 1/2 tbh

If My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is 5, this is 4

I dont come back to this album often but when I do, I dont understand why I didn’t come back sooner. Tbh I blame stranger things for playing running up the hill to death. I forgot how incredible to rest of the album is. Still haven't watched stranger things.

Could see myself getting more into it, the times Iistened

Basically an editors album

On a technical level, this album should be a 5. Great production, tight tracklist. But it doesn't have the personal x factor, to give it a 5 for me. Disclosure, I still haven't watched finding neverland

Am I confused? Yes. Am I very charmed? Yes. Reminds of squeeze/pub rock. But less crass, more funk and better musicianship

1980s synth pop can be very hit and miss, they got it right here. Lovely sounding album, very atmospheric

I think 40 years of hip hop developing after this album being released hasn't done it any favours.

Feel like you need to give this more time, otherwise it sounds like phone hold music

Its a shame rest of her discography couldnt be like this

Guardian readers would lap this up

Delightful, probably wouldn't come back to it though

Not much memorable here

I wish the talking heads could just have some consistency. Still an enjoyable listen.

Don't care who came first, it's just fucking radiohead

Eh, not for me

How did we even get here?

This era of music is one of new labours worst legacies

As a white boy from Hove, this album meant alot to me growing up

At least the prisoners liked it

Not sure if it was spotify but the quality of the recording was rough

If this was a band on at the green door, I would go to the smoking area

delightful but four discs are too long

If I was listening live, this would be a good time. Doesn't hit the same working at a desk

I once went to a 3 hour long u2 tribute act. This album dragged just as long as that night.

Find RnB a bit boring tbh. Doesn't help the album is an hour long

Wasn't surprised to find out that the band was Canadian after listening to this album

Listened to this on a phone speaker as any pre 1960s recording sound shite regardless

Call yourself The war on Drugs and then have your first track be a U2 ripoff is a bold move

ye really kept the good beats for himself

You know this would go off live, but listening to a recording in headphones is a bit dry
