My first ever full jazz album listening session.
+ Great atmosphere, love hearing the crowd roar as much as they do
+ The level of craftmanship is amazing
+ Really kinetic music in the faster tracks, makes me wanna dance and clap
+ Skin Deep Drum Solo
- I really wish I was there, I feel like missing out a lot just listening to this
- The bluesy downtime songs bored me (really not my type of music)
- after listening once, I think I am full, I had enough, thank you
Fav: Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue, Skin Deep, Festival Junction
Least Fav: Blues to be there, Sophisticated Lady, Got it Bad (And That Aint Good)
3/5
+ About as groovy as it's silly, really fun energy
+ I Like the way they use vocals chops
+ A lot of interesting ways how they use their rap and singing voices
- Sometimes a little too edgy, also some really outdated humor
- feels a little... irrelevant?
- gets repetitive fast
Fav: Officer, Oh Shit, I'm the Type of N***a, Quintons on the way (Skit), Pack the Pipe
Least Fav: Otha Fish, Most of the skits and interludes, 4 Better 4 Worse
3.5/5
+ Funky grooves, nice jazzy dad rock instrumentation, very attention grabbing
+ Great voice and vocal production
+ really easy to get into...
- ... but sometimes it sounds needlessly complex, technical and unfocused
- not really a satisfying album experience, but great stuff for some of my playlists
- very basic album artwork
Fav: Barrytown, With A Gun, Rikki Don't Lose That Number, Pretzel Logic
Least Fav: Night by Night

Fav: Swimming Pools (Drank), Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, Backseat Freestyle

+ powerful performances, feels very alive and all Instruments sound great
+ No filler, great highlights
- boring artwork
- the old songwriting conventions makes this feel mucher longer
- while i can appreciate tracks like Sex Machine from a craftmanship perspective, it's nothing i want to listen to again
Fav: Stand!, Everyday People, Sing A Simple Song
Least Fav: Sex Machine
4.5/5
+ I've listened to The Rockafella Skank what feels like a thousand times in my lifetime, it still slaps
+ I always wanted to listen to this album and never took the time, so thank you 1001G
+ Love the artwork
+ so much energy
+ the highs are so high (and Praise You is basically just a collection of highs)
+ I had a great time
- it's very repetitive, when it works, it's hypnotic and very kinetic, when it doesn't work it gets extremely annoying
- some songs are a lot longer than they need to be
Fav: Praise You, The Rockafella Skank, Gangster Trippin, Soul Surfing
Least Fav: Fucking in Heaven
4/5

Look, I expected to like this a lot, given it's almost mythical status. After listening, I was confused, bored and tired. I guess it is not for me, huh.

+ Strong Highlights really tie the album together, feels like a full album experience
+ it's powerful, beautiful, sensitive, full of Heart and Soul and really uplifting
+ It becomes way more than the sum of its parts
- it can get really cheesy, lyrically, compositional and from production
- the feature tracks feel the weakest to me
Fav: Lost Ones, Ex-Factor, Superstar, Doo Wop (That Thing), Forgive Them Father,
Least Fav: Nothing Even Matters
1,5/5
+ I was surprised how experimental this album is
+ the opener really sets a good tone for the album
+ The happy hardcore influenced tracks were fun
+ Sometimes I really liked the maximalism in the production...
- ... but a lot of times it's just a mess
- Skin makes my skin crawl
- really don't like Madonnas vocal performances on the whole thing
- it's more fun to talk about the album than to listen to it (it's also way too long)
- ultimately it is a failed experiment for me
Fav: Drowned World / Substitute of Love, Ray of Light
Least Fav: Skin, Shanti / Ashtangi, The Power of Good-Bye, To Have and Not to Hold
5/5
+ Campy, ridiculous, sweaty, sleazy, fun, cool and very danceable rockabilly punk with B-horror aesthetics, love it
+ Side A is pretty much perfect
+ Great guitar tone, so much character - also i enjoy the over the top vocals
- Side B can't completely hold up, doesn't feel finished, like fragments of a great album, but still... damn
Fav: I Was A Teenage Werewolf, Rock on the Moon, The Mad Daddy, Strychnine, Tear It Up, Garbageman,
Least Fav: -
4/5
+ I am a sucker for rock operas and psychadelic rock, so sonically i felt right at home
+ It can get really experimental, noisy and rhythmically complex, but still maintains a very easy listening experience
+ Really high highs...
- ... and pretty low lows
- im listening with headphones and i really hated the overabundance of stereo effects, sometimes it was very cool but a lot of times i was just annoyed
- the songs constantly change drastically, which enhances the album experience, but i wish i could have some parts of some songs for a playlist
Fav: S.F. Sorrow Is Born, Balloon Burning, Death, Baron Saturday, Trust, Loneliest Person
Least Fav: Private Sorrow, Well of Destiny

+ Overall very enjoyable
Fav: If you Think You're Lonely Now, Secrets

+ I love the crunchy drum sound and the deep guitar tone
+ It really has its moments, I especially enjoy the heavier tracks

Fav: The Kids Are Alright, My Generation, The Goods Gone, I'm A Man
Least Fav: Please Please Please

+ Second half is really good
+ strong album opener song, cool outro song
+ There is no bad song...
- but most of it i don't really care for
- at first it felt a little generic sounding and didn't feel the Energy many reviews were raving about
- first listen i didn't have too much opinion about the whole thing, which normally is bad
Fav: Fast Cars, Fiction Romance, Autonomy, I Need
Least Fav: -
