What a wild ride....and not in a good way. This sounded like something a 12 year old would create in their basement.
Overall, a pretty good listen. There were a few songs that sounded like they were going towards Oasis. Some that sounded a little newer.
You can see where it's headed. There was a bit of what Queen became in a few of these tracks, but for the most part it was a mess. I wasn't exactly sure what it was trying to be.
Not my idea of a good time. There are some Radiohead songs that I enjoy, but I didn't like the over-experimental mess this was. I found myself unable to find a "hook" in any of this.
This was really good. It starts off with one of the greatest songs from the 70's in Tiny Dancer and just kept going from there. I really enjoyed it.
This was truly awful to listen to. I had no idea how this got made and who thought anyone else should listen to it. It's like they took the worst part of some different genres like SKA, reggae and pop and blended it together with terrible voices. I wish I could get that time back. I suffered thru it for the cause but boy I wish I didn't need to.
I loved this album when it first came out and I was much younger. Listening to it now was much different.
There were some really great tracks and then multiple songs in a row that just felt like filler. There was no need to make this a double album since a lot of the songs could have been left in Billy's head instead of making it to the studio.
Generic early 00's R&B. There were no standout songs. Her voice was nice, but nothing that seemed different from a lot of what was being pumped out at that time.
I remember the time period when this came out. I wasn't really a fan then because it sounded so much like artists that did before and better. I get it. I think she has a cool voice, and there are a few tracks that are pretty good, but I still think there were others a long, long time ago that did it significantly better.
I REALLY liked the music on this. Unfortunately, Bowie's voice dragged it down.
He has some great albums where his voice complements what is happening behind it.
I know he was older when this was released, but it doesn't change the fact that he stretched what he could do too far. Many artists release albums at the end of their career/life and they lean into it.
I don't hate the beatles, but they definitely aren't at the top of my list of bands either. This was ok, but I wouldn't put on again.
This was terrible. At first I thought maybe it just wasn't my genre of music, and maybe I just needed to be more open-minded.
Nope. It sucked.
This was really good. I had friends that were fans of theirs back in the day, but I never really listened to them. It was good from beginning to end and had a really cool vibe. I'll definitely listen again and look at more of their stuff.
It sucks that I'm 15 albums into the "challenge" and this is the first one I liked and rated above 2 stars.
It wasn't terrible, but definitely not my style of music choice. I listened and didn't have a strong opinion on it. Obviously, I knew the main song from the album. Everything else was stuck between the 60's psychedelic and 70's rock.
This was awful. I had to force myself to get thru it. Just nothing I liked.
I've seen the list of the 1001 albums, and I know there are some great ones coming, but I am struggling thru these at the moment.
This was another awful choice, and I don't hate music from this era. It was just bad.
Absolutely incredible album from beginning to end. AC/DC isn't even really music I listen to much, but this is the perfect example of something that should be on a list like this.
I remember this album being massive when it came out.
The flows and beats are still there, and just as incredible, but the lyrics and the corny skits are so bad.
I found myself bopping along and then all of the sudden I would be overwhelmed with cringe and embarrassment.
I am three weeks into this and two albums from T. Rex have already come up. I have the same opinion on this one as the other one....it sucks.
I have nothing else to say about it.
Really good Queen album. Not great. Not bad. Right down the middle.
I do love stone cold crazy.
Decent. There were some really cool hooks in some of the songs. The bass player was fantastic.
Overall, not great, but was not a waste of time to listen to either.
Not my type of music, but I thought it was good.
Mediocre rap from that era. There were a few hits, a bunch of filler, and some really cringy skits.
For the most part, this is just Timbaland.
This was painful to listen to.
I gave it one more star than I probably should have.
She has some really great vocals but the whole thing was kinda boring.
The hits were the hits and the rest was terrible.
I found myself really disliking Sting's voice. The only saving grace was Stewart Copeland.
This was stuff I grew up with and I guess I was just too young when this came out to know what good music is?
This sucked so much. It was painful to listen to and I hated it.
This was so up and down. Good song....crap.....decent song.....rinse, repeat.
I also hate Bono's voice for some reason.
This was like KMFDM but without any talent. I hated it.
I really, really need to catch a good album soon, because this list is just terrible so far.
It was pretty good for its time. Probably got an extra start just because of nostalgia.
I get the cultural significance of the band, but I just don't think it's good.
I enjoy a lot of bands that were influenced by The Clash, I just never got into them.
I am begging for anything to pop up from the past 20 years.
Her voice is good. Overall, it's just boring.
I loved this album when it came out. The first time I heard Stan was incredible.
Then it aged.
Really, really aged.
I found myself in a constant state of bobbing my head and cringing at the lyrics.
Went in not expecting much. I had friends that were really into that era of punk and I just never got it.
This was different. I liked it a lot.
It wasn't necessarily bad; it was just boring. There are other reviews that captured it better.....but it was very much like listening to something in the background of a hotel bar.
She can sing.
This might have been the worst album I have listened to since starting this. J
Just bad. I don't understand why this crap is considered something everyone needs to listen to?
There was a lot of good music here. There was also an insane amount of filler. I get that it was a concept album, but I think you need to be on something to enjoy that part of it.
Solid 3
Why would this album be on a list of music I need to listen to?
It was useless elevator music!
This was terrible. Everyone has heard the title song, and it gets sullied by the fact that he was a terrible human.
The rest of it was complete crap.
This was pretty good.
I'd never heard of them before this album popped up in the list. I found myself enjoying most of it.
Kinda what I was hoping a lot of the albums on this list were gonna be...new music to me that I liked.....unfortunately it's rare that something like that happens!
