It was a very gloomy day that I listened to this album, which really matched the overall mood. Obviously loved Everybody Wants to Rule the world and head over heels, and Shout as well. I hadn’t heard the last song on the album, Listen, before, but it was really good. I didn’t really care for the other ones, they were too 80s. The songs were all very long.
It was a good album, however the songs weren't my personal favourites. I really liked the last song on the album Wild is the Wind.
admittedly really good music but a little too depressing for my taste... I've heard You and Whose Army before in my American Protest Music class and really like that song, and I also liked Dollars and Cents and the Pyramid song but the rest I found very dreary and melancholic. I can see why people like Radiohead and would like to try to listen to some of their other albums.
I dont really like REM so didn't really like this album..
Really liked this album, it reminds me of high school. I can really hear the transition between the decades in this album. Its a fun relaxing album, reminds of warm weather.
Its the Beatles so obviously I loved it, but as one of their earlier albums it was very pop-py. I can see why they drastically changed their sound on later albums. Still very much enjoyed it though.
i was unfamiliar with CCR's game before listening to this album. It was truly amazing. It is such a defined rootsy and swampy sound, very interesting energy. I LOVED Graveyard Train, it was so unique; when it first came on I thought to myself that it had such a dark and groovy sound, and which I saw the title of the song I figured that it fit the song perfectly. I feel as though this album would be hard to listen to while sitting still, it makes me want to move. With this album I can see why people are such big fans of Creedence Clearwater Revival, it definitely makes me want to listen to their other stuff.
Not my favourite, which I was surprised by because I thought I'd like The Smashing Pumpkins. I've liked some of their other songs in the past. I knew Luna already and like that song, but didn't love the other ones.
Although its not necessarily my type of music, its undoubtetly such a great album. I like that the album starts off with Smells Like Teen Spirit, its such a great introduction to the album, as most albums start off quieter to introduce but this one sets the tone for the rest of the listening experience. Kurt Cobain is so so great :)
sounds like greys anatomy
40 songs… sounds a lot like the Beatles but I didn’t listen to the whole album.
Not really my kind of music but a very cool sound. I'm glad I was able to listen to this as I don't think I ordinarily would have. Kind of a scary sound
I had never heard of this album before, but as I was listening to it I did some research on it. It was the first album to be completely almost completely composed of samples, and as one review I read said, it was the first to use samples in a way that blends into the music seamlessly. Upon reading into this album, I gained some deep appreciation for it, and I can understand why it's on this list. The sound is so smooth, it reminds me of some Radiohead, and also of older rap from the 80s and 90s, like Kwames music. I really liked this album a lot!
I feel changed after listening to this album... I've always heard the name Moby but have never actually listened to any of his music, and I loved it. I was listening to this album through and I came to Porcelain and my mouth dropped, because A$AP forever by A$AP Rocky has been one of my favourite songs since high school and I never knew that this is what that song was sampled. My favourite part of that song has always been the sampled part, because of how airy it feels, like it's lifting me off the ground. Today I realized, this whole album has that sound. This whole album has such a cool and fun sound to it, it made me get up and clean LOL I loved it so much and that was very unexpected. The album has such an adhesive sound and the sounds of each song flows so smoothly while I'm listening to it.
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would!
I am very happy that I got to listen to this album tonight. It sent me down the rabbit hole of "Krautrock", which was the redefining of German culture in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In post-war Germany, many young Germans were struggling with their identities and with generational trauma of their parents relationships with nazism. Music and popular culture was conservative, with cheesy hits and US/Britain music ruling charts. This gave Krautrock artists something to define themselves against, with NEU! being one of the most influential, alongside bands like Faust or CAN. This album is not one I would ordinarily listen to all the way through, but I did tonight while researching it's history. The sound is very repetitive through most of the songs, but the song Hero caught me off guard, and it almost reminded me of the Rolling Stones. While looking into this album, I learned that Bowie took inspiration from this band, and I can really hear it while listening to the album.
Loved this album!! I have never heard of the Go-Betweens but I really liked their music on this album.
Loved this album!! I have never heard of the Go-Betweens but I really liked their music on this album.
I loved this album!! After listening to Amnesiac earlier this month I wasn’t sure what to expect because I didn’t love that album but I really enjoyed this one. I already was familiar with a few of the songs on this one. I liked that there was some variety in the songs on this album. I’m very surprised with The Tourist, I loved that song a lot even though I typically don’t enjoy slower songs, however Thom Yorkes voice is just so beautiful it really made me like it.
Obviously super familiar with this album, I LOVE sympathy for the devil, however, I had never heard the other songs on this album (every song aside from Street FIghting Man and Prodigal Son). I know the Rolling Stones are English but aside from Mick Jaggers voice, there sound, especially on this album, is filled with soul and reminds me of the south. I didn't realize this album was so blue-sy I was somewhat surprised with how much I loved some of the songs on this album, like No Expectations. The sound of this album reminds me of some of the places I visited while in Nashville. I will say whenever Street Fighting Man comes on, I do usually skip it. I don't always favour Prodigal Son on its own, but in the context of it's album (listening to it all the way through it), I LOVE it. It fits in so well.
Had never heard of this album/song/band! Street Life (song) is so smooth and groovy. Not that I was around during this time, but I feel like it transports me to 1970s NYC. it's such a cool sound. The tune of My Lady reminds me of Baltimore by Nina Simone but more funky. I don't usually listen to jazz but I can definitely appreciate it, and this album is so groovy and fun to listen to.
Of course I loved this album. I love the kinks and have since high school, although I didn't realize Shangri-La (one of my favourite songs by them) was on this album! Some of the songs had a very beatles sound to them.
I was NOT expecting to like this album but was very pleasantly surprised! It was very girlypop meets alternative. I had never heard of Goldfrapp before but the sound of the songs on this album were very interesting and I enjoyed it a lot!
I actually can't believe I've never heard of Joan Armatrading, I loved this album so much. The songs are so well-crafted and the instrumentals go crazyyy. Her vocals are so amazing, and almost remind me of Nina Simone or Ella Fitzgerald on some tracks. I loved the first three songs on this album so much.
I have loved the Strokes for a while and really enjoyed this album
was already familiar with this album and I love a lot of the songs on it, many associated with a certain time in my life. I love the dreamy sound of the songs, and I think it's fun to try and guess what they are saying haha.
