1001 Albums Summary

Despite its ubiquity in my youth, I'm not sure I've ever properly listened to this end to end. How wonderfully referential and beautifully stripped back.

What a joy. I should have known it was more like Low than the title song suggests.

Listened to it. I've rarely been prouder of my teenage self, who rightly concluded that this is a essentially a boring pastiche of late 70s New York Punk. There's nothing wrong with the songs and Last Nite is a good enough pop song.

I have neither the words not the experience to really know if this is any good. It sounds like a lot of other country from the time to me. I love 'If you want to be my woman' though. Banger.

I had always read about Queen liking Boston. Apart from that one song, I had never listened to Boston. Boston sounds like a lost early 70s Queen album.

I was ready to give this 5 stars but it's nothing like I remember. The highs are up there, but a lot felt like filler. This makes me so sad.

I have never knowingly listened to a full Neil young album before. That was joyous.

A real joy. Maybe it's because I've been watching The Beatles Anthology, but it's so clear how much they were influencing each other.

It's weird being nostalgic for an album that I didn't really like at the time, but this feels like a soundtrack to such a big part of my life and I really didn't mind it at all.

I had real high hopes going in but this just wasn't quite there for me. Had it's moments but less than the sum of it's parts.

I had to stop listening. I really want to like it, and can see why it would have been great at the time. But not for me.

That was a lot of fun - far less synth based than I'd presumed. Making me nostalgic for the early 2000s when Donnie Darko was definitely my jam.

I mean it's probably my 4th or 5th favourite Beatles Album and I find it a bit patchy compared to some others. It is still one of the best things ever recorded.

They might almost all just by "I love you" songs but my god they are good ones.

This is a really lovely album. They have suffered a lot over the years with a stigma of being MOR but this is beautiful.

For quite a while I was going to say this was transcendent. I was going to forgive Without You as being a song that has suffered from over playing and parody. But what is Coconut all about?
