Some classics, maybe a bit repetitive overall?

I love lots of elements of this album. In no particular order, the jazzy elements, James Murphy’s drumming. It’s hard to look beyond the emotional significance of the timing of its release but then again maybe you’re not meant to.

I never engaged much with The Offspring, but I liked a lot of this. Self Esteem was a standout. Kinda loses steam in the last 3-4 songs, but I read they wrote those in like 2 days so not surprising.

H town on top! Awesome from start to finish

Mostly recorded in South Africa iirc. The SA jazz and jive influence is very present and adds quite a lot to the album imo.

I probably listened through 5 times and loved every one.

I don’t really care that it’s the first punk album ever. Not for me.

Didn’t really give it a fair shot but Waterloo Sunset has been one of my fave songs. Would like to revisit.

Really liked this. I hadn’t given the verve much time beyond bittersweet symphony but sonically this sits alongside oasis and Radiohead in a really pleasant way.

Love Crosby Stills and Nash, was cool to hear his solo work

I love the Dan but not their best album bar some highlights like Ricky and Dude

Some of the best songs of all time. But is it a perfect album cover to cover? Can’t give it a 5 but it’s better than a 4.

There’s something to listening to this on the bleak English public transport that makes it feel like a soundtrack. Some seminal tracks here, I loved Narayan which was new to me. Hard to find many faults other than you could say it’s a bit repetitive but that’s just electronic music in general.

On paper this should be the kind of thing I like, but I think I’ve moved on from this sort of thing. I liked a couple tracks, but without a clear nostalgic link, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Didn’t get through it. The new wave-y singing doesn’t really do it for me

I just never got the wider Metallica thing apart from a few songs. I really really dislike Lars’ drumming on this album, he sounds sloppy and weak.

Decent 3 because some songs are great and some songs just sound a lot like the great ones.

Hard to rate this alongside other albums on this list as it’s over 3 hours long. I don’t think the expectation should be to rate the 5 or whatever disks as a whole but the general vibe of what was put down. I liked it mostly.

Not always the easiest album to engage with, but rewarding in places - the build towards the end of “Black Lake”, the chopped vocals of “Stonemilker”. Some songs probably take too long to develop? But I rarely found this album boring. Kudos to Björk for being like no one else.

Alright alright AS AN ALBUM, it’s one of my favorites ever. I am rating the ALBUM.

Sorcha really got me into Bruce, mainly via going to his concerts. Safe to say, I’m a convert. His blending of rock, big band jazz elements, blues etc is so American in the best way possible. Not many duds on this album but I won’t give it a perfect 5 as I think other albums of his deserve it more.

Heavy like I like, maybe a bit too much organ

The production on this is janky and poorly mixed, the rapping is off beat and at times more like bad spoken word, the singing is out of tune, and yet, I like it. I don’t know how Mike Skinner does it.

It’s crass, bombastic, distasteful at times. It’s also funny, style-defining in terms of production and Snoop’s hazy West Coast flow is unmatched. The reveal that the pouring sound at the start of Gin & Juice is preceded by someone going “Man, I got to piss” in G Funk Intro, brilliant. It’s not without the misogynistic posturing that characterized rap in this era, which listening in 2026 does make for some uncomfortable moments.

I’ve always meant to engage with Elliott Smith but missed out during my prime angsty teenage years, preferring to question my place in the world through Meteora and Hybrid Theory (Linkin Park). I really liked the sounds on this album. The contrast between the heavy lead and the jangly rhythm guitars on L.A. Smith’s vocal melodies shift pleasantly from haunting to beautiful in a way that the guitar or piano always complement well. I’d be curious to know how exotic his chord arrangements are, but I’m not a music theorist like that. It’s kind of mental this came out in 2000, was long before the Indie Wave fully crested. The influence of this album is sonically clear on Death Cab for Cutie, the Shins, and myriad other imitators. Loses a point because I’m not sure how much I’ll come back to listen to this but otherwise max points for the artistry.

Eh. Kind of bland. If you were into it at the time you probably still are. Not a lot here for me.

There’s bits I liked and bits I found a bit slow

Not the best of the Beatles. But it’s still the Beatles.

Maybe I’ll need to revisit but found it hard to get into.

Never heard of these guys and I think I know why

Loooooved this. I knew “Go!”, which is one of my favorite beats ever already. The production on this is so amazing, the lyrics are amazing, the features are great. Makes me nostalgic man. I will be going back to this.

Roundabout is one of the first songs I remember being obsessed with as a kid. I don’t feel like the rest of the album lives up to it though. Very prog-y. Too prog-y perhaps.

Can’t be anything other than a 5, but if it was Definitely Maybe it’d be a 6.

I liked some of this but found the rest uninspired

Only managed about half of this before it got too weird and boring

Hard to decouple my rating from the deep nostalgia I have for this, A Rush of Blood to the Head and X&Y. Whatever your opinion of 2026 Coldplay, I don’t think you can deny these albums sound great and have some absolutely classic songs on them.

It’s too long! Also someone in another review said the singer sounded like Cartman from South Park and I couldn’t unhear it.

Heavy hitter album this. Radiohead’s reinvention from good 90s rock band to something more transcendent. For an album that is old enough to be working a mid level job at an accounting firm, it still sounds incredibly fresh.

You can’t deny the musicianship at play here, even if it’s not really my thing.

I liked the shuffle playlist after this album finished more than the album itself. Always gonna enjoy psychedelic rock though.

I’m back!! Also this was fine. Weird to hear the sonic universe around such a huge hit. It kinda sounds like they were just trying a bunch of things and Groove is what stuck.
