1001 Albums Summary

One of my favorites. Played this album frequently as a kid. Amazing sounds and creativity that still affect me the same way.

I’ve never been a fan of Green Day, but I will say I was impressed with the production quality, and listening to the whole album in order gave the songs a distinct context… lyrics-wise, there seems to be a lot of overlap and several songs seem to be about the same thing.

.cool. I thought the album got better as it went along. Fantastic Voyage was my favorite.

I love some NY songs. Did not love this album.

Poetic, artistic, of its era…

Technically excellent. Better than expected.

Poetic, odd, bold, dreamy. I wish I had been introduced to this as a teenager.

It’s music I guess. Not my kind. Sounds like lyrics written by a high school boy.

Listenable. Will I seek it out? Not sure.

I am a big fan of The Boatman’s Call. For many years it was my only Nick Cave. I think that makes it harder for me to enjoy his other albums, but maybe if I listened to them as much as the boatman call I would love it too.

This was one of the first albums that hit when I was in early teenage years, so it was an important album for me and my friends. Haven’t listened to the whole album in many years. It is quality in my opinion. Actually heard it differently now that I’m old.

If I didn’t speak English- maybe. Let’s have a toast for this piece of shit.

Had a pretty negative review half-written. Dog woke me up at 4:30 am… put my earbuds in, this came on, and hearing it for a second time totally changed my mind. I’ll listen to this again, and maybe I’ll add another star…

Some well known songs from the radio, and some I’ve never heard. I’m impressed with the production and listen-ability even those I’ve never heard.

My wife loves Björk. I don’t, but I did very much enjoy the soundtrack to dancer in the darkness. I guess I’ve never listened to Björk, this album specifically on my own terms, but when I did, I really got into it.

Never was a fan of JP, but as I’m finding now that I’m 15 albums in, listening to an album from beginning to end does give context and better understanding of a group’s music.

Enjoyed the first song, but after that it was a challenge.

Ok, mellow and smooth. For me, more background music, will have to try again in different circumstances.

Uneven album, but some really good moments. Who new that Dave Matthew’s, Jack Johnson and others are doing impression of this guy!

I’ve known this album since my parents played it on the 8 track in our used Duster. One of the best.

I’ve listened to Morriset in the past, though I’m not sure I knew any of these songs. Even at first listen I was struck but the melodious sounds and evocative lyrics.

Interesting. Too much sighing and shrieking for my taste.
