1001 Albums Summary

Not my thing at all!!... managed a few tracks, but something about the rhythm just got on my nerves 🤣 maybe because I was driving and it wasn't doing it for me, dunno - had to turn it off anyway.

Hmm, not doing much for me, definitely of its time, and does sound a bit dated... and I do find his voice a bit irritating, but that's a very personal thing! Not compelled to give this a 2nd listen, but did manage to listen to the whole thing!

Banger. Immediately listened a second time. Lots of variety, great riffs, musicianship, vocal harmonies etc. All bob on 👍

Classic for a reason, love Green Day, but would choose another of their albums over this one, hence 4 stars.

This is really cute! Didn't grab me straight away, and yet ended up compelled to listen 3 or 4 times, it's a grower. Ballad of Big Nothing, "you can do what you want to, whenever you want to" - very much my vibe atm!

Yeh, pleasant enough, never gonna be one of my go to listens, but nice to hear something other than Bridge for a change 🤣

Oh this was lovely - nothing groundbreaking, but some cute songs, nice voice... will probably come back to it.

Obviously a stone cold classic! Must've listened to this about 5 billion times in my life, so chilled, lyrically amazing, full of memories and nostalgia for me, and one of the best openings to an album of all time.

Well, obvs I LOVE Jeff, and have never listened to his Dad, so I'm intrigued. Yeh, this is wild - lyrically bonkers, harmonically twisted, psychedelic soundscapes, vocals unhinged! Love it. Probably won't become a regular listen though.

Ok, this'll be nostalgia. Oh, I REALLY enjoyed this - on its second repeat! Chanelling my mother, who was obsessed when we were growing up. Yes, his voice still gets on my tits, but the songwriting is immense, and I'd forgotten how great the vocal harmonies are. SO GOOD! Very happy to have rediscovered this, and will definitely become part of my regular rotation now.

YES PLEASE!! These vocal close harmonies are actual joy itself - I'm in! 🙌 listened on repeat for a good few hours, recommended to my mates - LOVE.

Oh yeh, this is nice and chilled. Bit of a mixed bag though - I like the funkier tracks at the start, but soon descends into smoother cheesier stuff, and I'm not down!

Initial response to opening... yes please! Quite like this - popped it on repeat, nice in the background, nice in the car... not setting the world alight, but a nice little vibe.

Initial reaction: oh go on!!... love Bjork, don't know this album, should be fun! Hmm, disappointing! This wasn't doing it for me - maybe I wasn't able to give it enough attention or something... there are other albums of hers that I would choose over this one.

Soon as it started, I was like FUCK YEH!!! THIS IS GREAT!!! 🤟 Took about 5 tracks for me to go, "yeh, it really is this for the album" 🤣 And it is indeed great, but it does all sound the same - there's no variation in the soundscape AT ALL. The things is, if you were listening as a proper leftie at the time, it'd be totally different, but I'm listening as a musician 50 years later, it's not the political statement it would have been, and doesn't hold that nostalgia for me. I get it though, definitely a classic for a reason, just not something I'll be listening to.

Yeh,... no, this is really boring, with some presumably deliberately really out of tune harmonica that I just don't get. Don't get it.

I enjoyed this enough to make me wonder why I've never listened to Metallica before, kind of my vibe, I didn't love this particular album, but enjoyed the little rabbit hole it took me down.

I can't manage all of this!! There are some things to like - the close vocal harmonies are great when they kick in, and some of the songs are quite cute in terms if lyrics, but the rest of the vocals are all irritating individually, and I just can't deal when the fiddle starts spaffing all over everything. My time is precious - I gave it a good go!!
