This album definitely had a tangible impact on influencing the later sounds of hip hop 90s and modern hip hop. The beats and rhythms of this album are incredible in some places, however unfortunately this is overshadowed by the blatant misogyny and derogatory acts towards women. Of course, across a wide range of genres and especially in hip hop this is has been the norm and unfortunately still is, however just because it was more accepted or unchallenged at the time doesn’t mean that we should ignore it or try to challenge it nowadays, and if we wish to see change in the way music and the music industry deals with women we should be more critical of lyrical context. An honourable mention is ‘things done changed’ because I liked the beat, it’s just sad hearing such normalised misogyny.
