Countdown To Ecstasy by Steely Dan

Steely Dan have always slipped by my radar and the tracks on this album are probably why. Obviously talented musicians but they all feel flat, one dimensional and samey. However I recently found Aja, which rapidly became one of my favourite albums, which shows spending time to learn your craft can pay dividends.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones

Excellent Album on anyones must listen to list

Not a big Nirvana fan and this didn't cange my mind, although the cover of Bowie's Man Who Saved The World is very good.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Sep 11 2026

Nothing fundamentally wrong with this album or the artist but in my opinion it and they just miss the point. I never feel they have any real passion for what they do, they hit a formula and follow it. Wallpaper or lift music to me - sorry

Station To Station by David Bowie
Sep 12 2026

Probably one of the lesser known Bowie ablums but superb all the same. Sits in that period between the glam rock early 70s and the later more dance focused early 80s.

Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
Sep 13 2026

If you like melancholy this one is for you, otherwise give it a miss

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Sep 14 2026

Beautiful album, lovely guitar and a delicate voice. A wonderfully crafted album which will be being added to my collection

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Sep 15 2026

Something certainly different and all the better for it. The first few tracks are like a party in downtime Havana with the later tracks moving to a more melodic sound. Either way these musicians can certainly know their art and the interplay between them is superbly captured. This was a breathe of fresh air when it first came out in the late 90s and it has stood the test of time as it sounds just as fresh today.
