Power, Corruption and Lies not being here is well, incorrect. Technique can stay.

For Post. I'm taking one early and one late record, her 3 finest records all deserve to be in. An excellent record but not of the same standard.

For Homogenic. I love Triumph of a Heart, and the general execution of the lack of instrumentation here, but favour leaving Vulnicura in to better represent a real late career high and her lasting legacy. I'm talking myself out of it though. Ask me tomorrow and the decision will be reversed. No doubt Homogenic must be there however.

For Regeneration or Absent Friends. Makes absolutely no sense including this glorified EP that shows no progression from the included Casanova at the expense of records which more properly showcase their depth.

For Zooropa, Pop, Boy. Subjective one this one, I just think its a terribly boring record. Zooropa is electronically experimental, on Pop they flirted with Disco, and Boy is a classic new wave debut. Each one more worthy for me.

Just having Sound of Silver is enough but if you must have 2 then either the debut or This is Happening are much better records than this comeback album without many actual tunes.

for Small Change. We also have Heart Attack and Vine for the drunk barfly period, I like Nighthawks but its too long and Small Change is better. Would probably tip Blue Valentine over this as well.

for Moon Shaped Pool. In truth 6 Radiohead albums is too many but it makes more sense to show they were still making interesting music late career, than include the slightly worse Kid A part B.

Personal pick this, I know many like this record, I just hate most of what they did after Dookie, plus this record is overlong, so I'd sub this in a second for their early stuff on Kerplunk

for Origins of Symmetry or Absolution (probably the former). No idea why this is the sole Muse record in the book unless the purpose was to mark the point they stopped being good, the earlier two records both mark increased critical acclaim and break out step ups in popularity, whereas the chosen record shows the point they hit upon a formula and stopped being creative.

for Mezzanine. I really like this record but I think its fairly straightforward to suggest the strides forward taken in Mezzanine make it the more important, and I'd pip the debut staying over protection.

It's just unremarkable covers and stuff. Sub for either Between the Buttons, much better early (and original) songs, or Their Satanic Majesties Request when they got spooked by The Beatles and made a psychedelia record with mixed and interesting results.

for 13. A bit torn on this one, obviously THAT SONG is on this, but 13 is much more 'Where they're going' than the S/T's 'Where they've been' and I think overall a better album and more appropriate for the list for it.

for Trompe Le Monde, simply because it's better. Bossanova has some world class songs too, of course.

for The Smiths. Very odd choice to not include the debut. In reality I'd sub Your Arsenal or You are the Quarry but I am being strict.

for Spirit of Eden. Obviously I understand why this is here and tbh I think there's room for both. But if we're having just one Talk Talk record then it has to be Eden. Others can represent big 80s smash hits.

for IOWA. I actually preferred this record a touch over the debut and I guess I'm subbing this instead only because of Wait and Bleed.

for Up To Our Hips, controversially probably, but I've always found that to be their best and most stylistically interesting record.

for The 3 EPs - we've had exceptions and compilations in the list so the 3 EPs, 12 tracks, effectively an album is going in, simply as far and away the best representation of these lads' work.

for Magic. Again an understandable pick for a late career rep if you're doing that. I just like Magic so much more.

for Strange Days. The weakest of the 3 Doors albums in the book keeping out possibly their best record? No,

for Want One. Technically still on the site but was removed from the book in favour of this, which is so much worse than the fantastic Want One it isn't even funny.

for Help! Similar reasoning to the Rolling stones, this just isn't particularly strong so if we're not including the debut...why? In reality should have made way for a different artist.

for Midnite Vultures. Personal preference, if I HAD to pick another Beck album. Sexx Laws is such a fun track and it goes from there.

for Up the Bracket. Your classic Dimery 'whoops I passed over a classic, let's include the far inferior follow up instead.

for Experience. Presumably also controversial, but if I'm having just 2 prodigy album I'm having the rave album and the transitional classic Jilted over this if we're really honest flabby record with a few stone cold bangers.

for Relationship of Command. Cheating slightly due to the sheer level of egregious omission.

for Rated R. Just a really strange choice there's no justification for. You would deprive a new listener of Rated R for this?

for His n' Hers. I like this record, but His n' Hers is far superior, got them noticed with a couple of long-lasting hits and laid the popular groundwork for he mega-smash to come.

for Pretty on the Inside, simply because straight ahead polished rock music is well represented enough elsewhere and POTI is a snarling beast.
