Sounds like a new Queen. I didn't like the old Queen. Not my cup of tea, won't be revisiting this album
Enjoyable, will be an album I'll return to.
Frank Zappa ain't my bag, baby. Stink-Foot is probably my favourite on the album, but I thought Dustin The Turkey sang about yellow snow better!!
Great debut by Irish band. If you like this then have a listen to English band IDLES.
Just found out that's Eddie Vedder on Watch It Die.
The 1st of 3-in-a-row amazing INXS albums. Each one reads like a greatest hits. Surprised they were not included in the original book, they deserve their place.
Didn't expect to like this, but it's something I'll keep coming back to, and I've no idea why!
An album that should be included on the 1001 list already.
Masterpiece of an album, how it's not included in original 1001 Albums is beyond me.
Inspired by Nick Cave, The Fall, Joy Division
Inspiration on IDLES, The Murder Capital, Fontaines DC
Great album.
M'eh. A few of the singles are good, but the rest is for whiney teenagers.
This must be how Andy felt after crawling through 500 This muat be what Andy felt like after crawling through 500 yards of shit smelling foulness that I can't even imagine.ive trawled through some shit on this user nominated section only to smell freedom in this album. Never heard of them before, but it's something I'll keep coming back to. It has perked my interest.
Not my cup of tea, not into prog rock, but better than most in the genre.

Was interested in hearing this as only knew the incredible singles off this album, sadly those singles are the only songs I'd listen to again. I loved their debut and 3rd album, but ultimately I'm a Carry On Up The Charts kinda guy, a superb best of collection from thst early era.
Britpop, UK indie, UK post britpop etc.. Is my wheelhouse.. But not this album... 1 good tune in Not 19 Forever.. But that's it.
No. Just no.
A few great tunes but not an album I'd return to again.
Does nothing for me, sorry.
I can't think of a time or situation when I'd say to myself " I must listen to that Primus album again."
Generic 80s American rock.urgh
Not today!
One of the best albums from 2024 (Underworld and James also on list)..one of the best Cure albums ever.
.no, this is not recency bias...it's THAT good.
II'm no fucking Buddhist, but this is enlightenment
Anytime u listen to this album I'd give it a 5, but my rating system is a 5 star album is one I'll put on anytime and love it. So I guess I know I have to be in the right Aml headapace, which isn't all the time, so I'll give it a 4
But man it's a fantastic album. I'd love to see idles with Fontaines DC and these guys supporting.
An easy 5 for me, I'm the one who submitted Dogrel! They have really matured from that debut to this. An amazing live band if anyone gets the chance to see them. And if you want something a bit dirtier and grittier then listen to Ilthe band Idles.
An album I didn't know I needed, nor did I know existed. I absolutely love this.
An epic album, depending on the day I listen, it may be better than Dummy, it's definitely equal to it. Should have been on the original list.
This albums contains some of my favourite REM songs. Half A World Away, Country Feedback, Texarkana, Me In Honey, which happen to be all Side B, or Memory Side! Yes it's got the awful Radio Song and the instrumental Endgame..but with those two massive hits in Losing My Religion and the radio friendly unit shifter Shiny Happy People, this album is a beast. I still think my favourite REM album is Monster, which isn't in the book. 5/5
Where has this band been all my life. It's like listenting to the birth of Editors or Interpol 20 in 1983. 4/5, it could rise to 5 after many more listens. Now I have to check out the rest of their catalogue. Thanks to whoever submitted this, exactly what I was hoping to find with user submissions, an album/band that I somehow missed over the decades thst is exactly the sound that I love. Top tracks are 1) Second Skin and 2) A person isn't safe anywhere these days
Surely there's other albums out there that one could be listening to. Bland, run of the mill, pop.
Pearl Jam's first 3 albums are an easy 5 for me. This was my favourite when the 3 were all out. It's got Elderly Woman, rearviewmirror, and daughter.for a start. Three of their very very best tunes
I'm sure my 7 year old would find it funny. He thinks farts are funny. If you smiled at this then this album is probably for you. Grow up
.
If PIL and BJORK did a collaboration, that they put the least amount of effort into and were both embarrassed by the outcome of their respective input, that they both vowed to never speak of this collaboration ever again, this is what it would sound like. I do like Mrs LENNON however. But by all the gods, the rest of it is torture (maybe I'll give Mindtrain a pass as I enjoy the groove they're in). I can perhaps see where Bjork and PIL got inspiration from, but they have musical talent that they trasform obscure ideas into amazing tunes.
Are Idles the finest new band in the past 10 years? I'd wager so. Could every album be their best album, I guess so. This album, all their albums, is what I want to listen to. Such anger resonates, and speaks about current social issues. From Ultra, I raise my pink fist and say black is beautiful
This is the best album from Massive Attack. Aggressive, errie, dangerous. The sound of war. Amazing. Why was it not selected ahead of their 1st albums is beyond me, both of the are 5s, but this is 6
She played before Blur a few years ago and I didn't watch her at all. Then was watching Glastonbury on BBC last year and all I could think was I need to fucking see this act live. Looked her up, and yep, there she was in front of my very eyes at Blur and all I did was drink and chat to my mates. What an album and what a live performance. I love this albim. The Curse is such a mighty powerful track.
It's a fun record, but not something I'd put on repeat. Although back when I was a teenager I did.
On a given day, this is the best Pulp album. Every single track here is a banger except Someone Like The Moon, but everything else could be called Pulp's best song, that's how amazing this album is. I'd love to seem them perform this album in full. What a trio of albums in a row from this national treasure of a band.
My rating system is based off how likely I'm to return to the album. I've been returning to this a lot since I first heard it in 2021. Hunting the Wren, The Wild River and The Young People are epics
An easy 5. When Zombie gets all the accolades because of its grunge (lite) crossover, this album is just perfection. Dolores must have written the lyrics when she was just 20 or 21! Obviously everyone knows the epics of Linger and Dreams (two of the vlbest Irish songs ever written), but Sunday and Not Sorry are equally as good. I adore Waltzing Back (which the drums near the end reminds me of Zombie actually) and How. I love the Irishness of the drums on How. Her vocals are hauntingly beautiful. Both her and Sinéad O'Connor are two of my favourite vocalists, whatever they're doing it works for me.
Some great tunes, soemthing keeps telling me to rate it 4 instead of 5 though. I wonder is it too many songs with Gore on lead vocals? I'll go with 4, but still a great album
This album is a sleeper. I love The Contino Sessions and really really really like Scorpio Rising. But I always slept on their debut. 1st listen was just OK, but on 4th now and it's really good. I think the sound of the album is a bit disjointed, doesn't flow well e.g. All That Glistens is like triphop a la Morcheeba sounding, whereas Dirt is lovely Chemical Bros type tune (by way of Fatboy Slim).
Not the best Daft Punk album by any stretch of the imagination. But it does contain their best ever song in the 100/100 Contact. That song is Epic. But album is a 3 for me.
Saw them support Noel Gallagher... At the start I was laughing, by the end I made a promise to myself to catch them live again. I would go for Tilt as being their best album, maybe because Holiday escalates it so much. But on this album Boyfriend (Repeat) is a bonafide banger, and that "Get down" bit live is so crowd engaging. C.O.O.L. Party is so much fun, I was not at that party with the lightbulb! Out the window is also a catchy tune. It's just such a fun party record. I'm going to give it a 5 as they were my most listened to artist a few years ago. Love Janet Planet
