Oh you mean female Bob Dylan? Besides her song bird land making me want to kill myself she was alright.
Extremely enjoyable to listen to. Put me in a good mood and got me to listen to Middle Eastern music all day which made me feel good. The version of Imagine was pleasant too. I heard all kinds of influences, French, Caribbean, Latin. Or did those genres pull inspiration from artists like him?
Not a huge fan of the genre. Very hit or miss for me. I didn’t hate it, but to me, a song without melodies and vocals that incorporate a scale is more performance art than music.
Not a fan. Didn’t really get what he was going for. The genre itself sounded like The Beatles’ classmates who got jealous and decided to do LSD too and see what happened. Heard some doowop elements too but just couldn’t glom onto it.
Not my thing it sounded like it came from the original Tron soundtrack
Very good messages. Applicable at any time. Kinda like a 1984 meets Eckhart Tolle. I can appreciate it for it’s lyricism but most of the music and melodies sounded the same. Only a few songs stood out as replayable for a casual listen. Mostly enjoyable just for the experience. A bit anxiety inducing just in my current frame of mind. It felt like platitudes were being angrily yelled at me and I was being punished. 3.5/5
Very good album. I like crappy music so it didn’t completely resonate with me but I definitely appreciated a lot of it. Especially the first half of the album.
The album gets better the more you listen to it. Definitely tuned in to it’s uniqueness by the end of the album. Nothing that gives me a huge sargasso but maybe I have too high of experience for music.
Absolutely wonderful. Jazzy, melodic, soulful. Funny enough I heard a song that sounded like a Justin Timberlake song in there so it must have been influential. I’m giving it a 5/5 because it was so pleasant to listen to and I had barely any anxiety listening to it.
Very enjoyable. His voice is a bit nostalgic and pleasant, same can be said for the music itself. Could see myself listening to this album again. I might be making it a bit easy to impress me now but I’m giving this a 5/5 too.
I mostly liked it. Less than half of my play through I got annoyed at how long or weird a song was. It was mostly pretty enjoyable and would definitely listen to it again.

Oof. Not really a fan. I mean as with most of these albums I could see why it’s important, I see where it influenced a lot of artists after it. It feels like Foo Fighters ripped them off a bit on one of their better tracks. Maybe that Catfish and the Bottlemen song I like too. But most of this album sounded like noise with extra steps.
It gets a passing grade because it didn’t totally suck. Had a bit of merit to it, wouldn’t consider it torture to listen to again, but wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to it again.
Oh you mean John Lennon Jr.? You mean the soundtrack to any movie wanting to worth their weight? He’s not bad. Pretty pleasant. Would listen again.
I liked it at first cause I grew up with it. Wore on me after a while. Legit part of it sounded like it came from the Flintstones’ theme song
A bit too preachy and felt like it was trying to play mind games with me and I hate that. Fuck off to this.
Oh you mean female Bob Dylan? Besides her song bird land making me want to kill myself she was alright.
It likely inspired the genre which is amazing but the album itself sounded like a bunch of pals just trying to figure out what to do at first.
Oh you mean Bob Dylan if he carried a tune? Oh you mean sounds like church hall dance music from before the Beatles became popular? Yeah of course I loved it. He’s king of the easy listening genre.
Not a huge fan of the genre. Very hit or miss for me. I didn’t hate it, but to me, a song without melodies and vocals that incorporate a scale is more performance art than music.
It sounded like everything that came before it and everything that came after it. Most of it sounded like if the singing of The Beatles met the guitar of The Rolling Stones. But overall very pleasant and I liked the genre of music that it was a part of. Would definitely listen to again on my own even though no songs really really stood out to me.
Very likeable album heard a lot of stuff I liked. Some sax that felt like a precursor to ska, the vocals were a bit hit or miss but when they hit at the same time as the music they were pretty great.
Not bad but I like more of her other work than this. Except Smooth Operator is pretty tops. Definitely would play this again though, but only during “sexy time”.
Maybe I’m biased because of New Girl but this album was amazi by. Lots of special hits on it and although it was thoroughly 80’s, something about a few of the songs were truly timeless. Best of his niche/sub genre. 4.5/5
Pretty damn decent. Every song had a mission statement and it was more like a musical thematically, a bit like a rock opera. And he has a great voice. I’m rating it higher than I normally would because of Paradise which is a classic.
Couldn’t believe how many hits were on this album that had been covered by other artists. What an iconic album.
Not bad but not my style
Some excellent riffs, songs were a bit long with almost not enough musical diversity to keep it interesting (I’ve never been a fan of artists who just jam on and on) but as soon as I found myself wishing it would come to a close he pulled me back in with something different. His voice didn’t really do it for me. He reminded me, although he is the precursor, of Elliot Smith, and a quick Google showed me that yes critics felt the same. Would listen to again if forced but prob wouldn’t crack my top 100 of this compendium.
I liked the concept of it, felt a little pandering to the kids of the era. But overall good sound to it and quite liked some songs

I really like this genre. This album would maybe crack my top 200. They sounded like a less self-involved Smashing Pumpkins. I got a bit of Brobeck vibes from it which is why I liked it. And didn’t give me anxiety to listen to for the most part so kudos.
He feels like Dave Matthews for my parents’ generation. This is some of his later work that I don’t think was as popular but it still had some songs that resonated with me and didn’t feel like they were pandering to an audience

Couple good songs. Not my scene.
At first it didn’t resonate with me but the latter half of the album resonated more with me. The songs themselves were kind of awful in the beginning and her crooning wasn’t enough to save them but then there was some synergy once it got a bit more upbeat.
It’s weird that the songs themselves didn’t make me eargasm but it was so cohesive and unpretentious that I found myself immeasurably drawn to it.
Well put together, again, very unpretentious. You could see how it inspired a whole genre and how there were no expectations so they were able to experiment and make it their own.
Almost every song was a banger and I’d absolutely buy the vinyl
It takes a bit to get used to his voice. Prob influenced Bob Dylan.
No offense kinda corny but so were some of the early Beatles songs can’t fault LL for trying his hand at something that went from a fad to an institution.
I’m sure it was revolutionary for its time and there were some good songs but it probably wouldn’t crack my top 100.
Rating after listening to half the album, but don’t need any further info. It’s a long album! Lots of 10 songs that are just pure unadulterated music, and I chase the idea of lack of pretension when listening to music and Stevie Wonder is the epitome of that lack thereof. Just such a joy to listen to and wonder for a last name is well warranted. The only reason I didn’t list it at 5 stars is there is some fluff, it’s not as “tight” as I like my albums. It’s my fault more than anyone else’s but I’m not a fan of most “jamming” when it gets repetitive without too much character to it.
The two songs I liked were mostly instrumental I didn’t much care for the voice. Space rock isn’t much my thing I like Explosions in the Sky but that feels more ethereal is that the word than spacy?
Overall impressive. I liked the theatricality in some of the tracks. Got a bit predictable and samey sounding after a while but still quite pleasant.
