Another favorite album of mine. Marr is a genius. Morrissey is an idiot but also a genius. Roarke's bass is among the catchiest I've heard, turning otherwise dirges into dance numbers.

I've heard just about a handful of these songs with some regularity, and a few others maybe once or twice in previous listens. It's impressive how the lesser-known songs are so starkly different from the popular tracks on the album, really gluing the whole thing together without feeling like just bridges between the hits. Definitely captures a moment in time for the psychedelic era. Favorites: Today & Comin' Back to Me

Maybe I wasn't in the right headspace for this one, but it didn't blow me away. Several of the songs were very busy musically and had a jazz feel, with Van's voice acting as more of an instrument. Maybe that was the point and I missed it.

Favorite: Make Me Know It

This album has one of my favorite songs of all time, and two others that were a huge part of my childhood. Despite those incredible highs, there were just a couple lows that kept this from being rated higher.

Y'know, I kinda wanted to like this less but it's actually pretty good. Still not my exact cup o' tea though.

Some cool riffs

This is one of my favorite albums. I love that the idea of English "folk" is so different - and so much more ancient - than ours. Richard Thompson's guitar work is awesome, and Sandy Denny has one of my favorite voices.

Really cool instrumentation. You can almost see a connection to delta blues. I can't understand a word of it, but that's not the point!
