I'm allergic to dude singing. I just am. I get why people are into it, but I hate this shit.
I thought I'd find her voice more grating than I do. Not my thing, but... I get it.
I know. It's super famous and influential. I just never 'got' herbie.
Young soul brothers indeed. Fascinating artifact of the northern soul scene that stands on its own right. Just a bit too much filler to get over a 3.
Shit.
Any ratings of below 5 stars are just pretentious. This is a perfect album.
Perfect 80s pop. Should have been an EP.
Siren song of misfits in towns so small everywhere. This album will try in vain to take away the pain of being a hopeless unbeliever, but god will it try.

Hard to say if these guys, beach fossils, or real estate capture a certain side of 2010 the best. Still holds up. Still makes me think I'm sitting in al's bar. All my friends were there.
Flawless. And yet, compared to the breeders, sounds terribly dated. Why is that?
Like most 90s electronica, this has some awesome tracks and some completely forgettable ones. Let's switch to a singles collection with some remixes.
Not their best album. But close. And when you're talking DM that's hardly a put down. Lays the path of their journey from s&m flirting synthpop to the arena rock and massive success to come.
Maybe the best balance of kraftwerk's groundbreaking experimentation and pop forward sensibilities (read: most listenable). I love this album. Man machine hits hard. Neon lights is downright pretty. Anyone who accuses kraftwerk of being a one-note output didn't spend enough time on them.
Before coldplay became their own punchline (during?) you just couldn't deny them. Album slightly dragged down a filler back half, but hot damn you've got banger after banger for the first 5 tracks. If you're not emotional by the end of the scientist you might want to check your pulse.
Hard to look past the nostalgia on this one, so I won't. A nearly perfect artistic statement. Front to back argument for album as an artform. These guys treated the recording studio as an instrument as well as anyone.

Never been a big fan of joplin's voice but this a great summation of psychedelic SF. Aged pretty well.
Are you ready to be heartbroken is a great song, but I just never got into these guys. Pleasant enough but I always just end up feeling I’d rather be listening to felt
Some of their best songs are here, but if you were to listen to just one pogues album it ain’t this one.
I have never listened to an entire temptations album. I enjoyed it, but nothing really jumps out at me. Pleasant driving music. Enjoy the one two punch of “don’t leave me for him” and “leave him for me”.
Not my thing! Still, avoids a lot of the 90s metal production techniques / distortion styles that I can’t stand. Doesn’t sound that dated tbh. Effective.
I have such a complicated relationship with oasis. At the time, I sneered at them as much as they sneered at everybody else. I was into blur. Or better yet pulp. Are they simplistic, radio friendly, and steal? Guilty on all counts. Dude straight up lifts a melody from a coke commercial. I guess those issues just don’t bother me as much as they did. Now when I listen I feel a heart felt nostalgia from an experience I never had. “Live forever” soars. They reached greater heights. But for me this album feels the most real.
Hardcore foward thinkers or the last gasp of 90s rockism? These guys rock. That's about all they do. Would not be out of place in a small town college bar. Not necessarily a criticism.
I often think I should get more into sabbath and I think this is a good argument for that. I still find some songs boring blues rock territory, but the stuff that feels like proto doom etc I get into, like the closer. And how bout the mellotron on changes ?
Cohen gets dark. Cohen gets good. I'm not sure if it's his best album, or just in the top 3. Man of phenomenal talent and gift.
I never got into patti smith. I know I'm supposed to like her. I just don't. I've tried many times. 'break it up' is good.
The title track is still a goddamn earworm, 'Crazy' is catchy. But man, the rest of this is completely forgettable. I wish pop stars would be content with singles and not feel they needed a full length. Beyond that? It really is bizarre to me that people feel emotional connections to songs that just ooze by like sickly sweet treacle. How bout the message of 'born to make you happy' ? Woof.
Another of those bands that I should have liked but just didn't. I think alex turner is just trying too hard to sing 'cool.' The strokes mastered the 'try hard and say it's easy' and looked so damn easy. The arctic monkeys always looked like they were trying very fucking hard. Maybe the melodies just aren't there? Rock stomp after rock stomp. Not very memorable or catchy.
Pretty awesome. How to not enjoy slayer ? More double kick drum please. Lyrics are ridiculous in the best way.
I always felt the berlin trilogy should include this and drop lodger. I know that doesn't make sense, but they just group together better. His paranoia of living in LA (a town he felt should be "wiped off the face of the earth") leading into the cleaning up and coming down process of low and heroes just works. Lodger feels like more of a preamble of his more pop-oriented 80s. Anyway. It's a great album. And tight. You feel the kraftwerk influences right away. He took it and did his thing, as he always did. TVC15 slays.
I didn’t think I’d like this. But I kinda did. Arrangements strong
Most of his best songs are here. A good argument for why he matters.
I thought I'd find her voice more grating than I do. Not my thing, but... I get it.
Not into it, though I do like the first track. The dubbier stuff I'm into. Like the drum production.
Phenomenal and influential album. Rock, punk, guitar music in general, would never be the same.
What a slog. I just don't get the appeal.
One of the greatest albums of all time. I listen to this album frequently.
Solid. Wouldn't think I'd enjoy the "showy" vocals but they aren't showy. Just good.
I never really got into beck, but this was the album I listened to most because a cute girl liked it. Listening back, it's quite the mope. I still dig lost cause though.
I dont this this holds up. Also never been a fan of his voice
