Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
May 16 2023

Great keyboards, expansive songwriting, theatrical. Cowboy Bebop took/shared some inspiration from the first and last songs. School and Asylum highlights. Sort of similar to Pink Floyd.

Rattus Norvegicus by The Stranglers
May 17 2023

I like the guitar tones - cool keys. Vocalist is a little grating, ,probably intentionally so. The songwriting kind of sounds juvenile so far. 'walking on the beaches looking at the peaches' 'stuck here all summer, what a bummer' oof. Feels like sort of proggy punk rock, the tone of the singing is punk but the childish rhyming just throws me. The keys are awesome. Overall an enjoyable experience, but nothing that really memorable to me after the first listen. 'Peasant in the Big Shitty' , 'Ugly' were favorites for me if I had to pick.

Big sense of space. Not afraid to move slowly and build up. Its often worth it. Thematically is very consistent if not a little stale at times. A few tasteful surprises. Somber but with some brightness. Instrumentation is usually flowing a few times synthesizers come in with a contrasting tight pulse or sharp edge. I've not seen the film, I was enjoying this album for itself so the last song with what I assume is a tie-in to the film was a little jarring. 'Dirty Trip' 'Cemetery Party' 'Highschool Lover' are highlights for me.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
May 19 2023

The blues influence stands out. Songs feel tight. Besides the hits bookending the album - not much standing out on first listen, just kind of vibing, no particular melodies and lyrics jumping out - not that that is a bad thing - the album is flowing like a river wide and slow.
