People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm
A Tribe Called QuestNot only brings me down memory lane but reminds me of the brilliance of this group. Their sampling is groundbreaking, lyrics exciting, and their sound? Chef's kiss.

I can't believe that it was ok to listen to this at 14. So dirty! But damn, they had some great links on this album. I like the rounds and harmonies they use.
Don't super love it. Not my fave genre
While I find it a somewhat dated sound, it's energetic and fun. My ears do get a bit bored with the relative sameness of the songs.
While Al has a smooth voice, most of the songs aren't memorable.
The music, okay. The lyricism? Outstanding. The way he takes social ideas an remolds them to fit his needs is amazing.
Some of the songs are engaging. Some are bland. I found myself getting fatigued half way through the album because the overall sound of the songs was so similar.
I just don't understand this album at all. Overly thematic in concept, sadly flat, and the weirdest attempt at "singing" I have heard. It's a no for me.
Wow. MS. Franklin is the GOAT. What a gorgeous, lyric, voice she has. And the music is so easy to listen to! Love.
I don't really like it. I'm a fair-weather fan of The Smiths and now I know why
So I was super excited to listen to this album. The first two songs are amazing. Then. . . Not so much. I was surprised that I didn't like the whole thing. Too bad!
What can I say? A rich, deep album that let's you skim the surface or dog deep into lyrics and instrumentation. Love it!
Oh man. As the population songs when I was a teenager in the 80s played, I was transported back to MTV abs their iconic videos. I loved them and the power I felt as a girl watching them. Also tye music is great. One of my favorite albums by them for sure.

Surprising. Rich. Acoustically interesting
There are lots of good hits on this album. Past those hits though, I was reminded why I don't listen to too many of his songs in a row. Lots of vocal tics. Now I know he is an amazing writer and performer. He has more talent than so many. Still.
I mean. It's a fantastic album. So. Much. Angst.
Uh. So I am completely surprised. What I know of UB40 is Red Red Wine. This album is nothing like it. Rich, complex sounds are matched with socially conscious lyrics.Burden of Shame is a standout. An excellent new find!
No thanks
There's a lot of emotion in this album. I loke lyrics on many songs. The sound of the songs starts to bleed together after a while, which makes it less fun to listen to.
The songs are so moody and sad and slow. I got bored so quickly during each song. No thanks.
I like the overall sound and message. The songs have a very similar rhythm, which gets repetitive.
A great album to listen to and feel angry about stuff. I loved it
One of the things I appreciate about this album is its versatility. It is wonderful background music. Additionally, close listening yields thoughtful lyrics. A great listen.
I love me a singer-songwriter album. This album is my introduction to Nick Drake. I really appreciate the sparse quality of his music and enjoy the guitar instrumentation.
Not really for me
Not a fan.
What a pleasant new surprise! I love the sound and the vibe- for me it's somewhere between 80s punk and new wave. Not quite angry enough for punk. Not quite synth enough for New Wave. A great listen.
One of my faves, even though it carries a sad ending legacy.
I really like some of her lyrics, but am not a big fan of the simpler music
Like the guitar riffs. Don't as much like the vocals.
I really appreciated many of the songs. Some didn't hit the mark for me, but I love the guitar and Mark Knopfler's voice!
I really should like this album. It has elements I appreciate. But I don't
Great lyrics and sick beats
Listen to this album. Today, it may sound like nothing out of the ordinary. But it is. Then go watch the biopic about Wilson and the band. It's very eye-opening, sad, and revelatory.
Wow that was a good album. Easy to listen too with lots of subtleties and great vocals.
It's good for a few songs, but they start to blend together for me after a while. Sounds like one, long sad song.
Nope.
A classic! Man did I love this album when I was in high school. Now I appreciate their sampling and style
Wayyyy different than I expected. I'm notvsure why I must listen to this album as part of a list everyone should listen to
I wonder if Mumble Rap came from this guy. He's not super easy to understand.
You should definitely not call yourself alt or punk if you don't appreciate the depth and complexity of this album. While not all songs are hot hits, they do all have a point of view.
Really awesome album. It's interesting to listen past band split. There's a heavy solo Sting element I maybe didn't hear at the time.
Damn this was unexpectedly good. I had not heard this album before now.
The hits are good. The rest is forgettable.
Didn't vibe with this one.
