Darkness on the Edge of Town
Bruce SpringsteenSnorefest. I really don't get Springsteen.
Snorefest. I really don't get Springsteen.
Are you kidding me
This project is really starting to suck
Original, creative, cool, musical genius. Screams Jack White. Either you love it or hate it. I'm somewhere in the middle. Good listen. Prob won't go back for any re-listens.
Love. Listened to this in real time in high school. Welcome to the Terrordome, bitch. Awesome album. I still play some tracks for my kids today.
REM distinct sound. Original for the time. Every song instantly recognizable as REM. Boring as all fuck.
Not my fav but liked a few of songs in real time.
Punk. Not the Sex Pistols or as catchy as the Sex Pistols.
My 19 year old self really liked this. The Doors are always on my list of kinda good bands. The musicianship is ok, the lyrics are very 60s but JM's voice IS GREAT. That is what makes The Doors, well, The Doors. IF your new to The Doors this is a good, fun album. If you know them then you probably didn't listen to any of this album becuase you couldn't stand to listen to Riders on the Storm for the zillionth time in your life.
Ugh.
Cisco Kid - feels like you're part of the 70's urban scene. The rest of the album not my fav but it definitely has a vibe.
No thanks.
Do you have the time to listen to me whine... Good, fun, punkish now cartoonish and mainstream. It's a great little nostalgic guilty pleasure listen.
Really
Original, fresh, punky, funky for what feels like the origins of new wave music. Great listen! So ahead of its time for 1977. You could almost see them playing with Blonde and the Ramones on a triple bill at CBGB's.
I'm sure there will be other reviewers that will go into detail about how influential the Velvet Underground is/was for soooo many bands that came after them. They are the ultimate garage band. Listening to this album, all you want to do is pull out your guitar, get your friends together, write some songs and become rock stars. The Velvet Underground actually makes you believe the dream is possible. In their case, throw in a little heroin to get the creative juices flowing. I only gave it 4 stars because the stuff that comes after this album is 5 star fantastic.
Not my bag baby. This is low budget Tom Jones without any personality or swinging songs.
Is it just me or were there no choruses in these songs? B..............................oh, sorry, I just woke up. Boring.
why?
reggae, ska, punk, ok.
Are you kidding me
background music that you would get annoyed with
It's Chicago. Jazzy. horns. A whole album of that is a lot.
Noise. Punk noise. How is this on any list of any greatest albums? I realize 1001 albums is a lot of music. But this is just pushing it.
Terrible
Haven't really listened to this album since 1996. Great listen. For the uninitiated, Beck is a mix of cool alt, rock and soul with a little country influence sprinkled in.
Awesome
songs go nowhere. upside, the bass is great.
I was surprised how listenable this album was. All I ever heard from T. Rex was Get It On.
Electronic music. I could produce this album in an hour with Ableton Live.
Sounds like the tail end of the 80's pop British invasion. Fun and fresh sounding. Enjoyable listen. For me there was no standout song or anything that really caught my ear. Maybe, Holiday. Good vibe, good time, good listen.
No.
I love Miles Davis but I'm more of a Birth of The Cool guy than this style.
Not my jam
Not good
The blues.
I never got Tom Waits and this album didn't help.
Two Tom Waits albums in a row. Give me a break.
Metal. No thanks.
Sounded like one long song...
Like all 60's rock stars, the magic is gone by the time they're 40. Dylan is no exception and he's said as much in many interviews
Fantastic. Willy is so unique and the fact that this was released in 1979 is so ahead of it's time. I feel like late 90s and 2000's saw the rise of pop/country/rock stars singing from the great American songbook. He prob did this album 15-20 years earlier. For the love of music. It shows.
We all can check out anytime we want but we can never leave. We're always bombarded with the Eagles music. They're great at selling boring music for the masses.
I did work to this album and forgot it was on for most of the time it played.
I'm beginning to lose faith in this experiment.
Pretty borning.
Snorefest. I really don't get Springsteen.
This sounds like one not great Brit alt song.
Early Cure. Although, Jumping Someone Else's Train is the quintessential early Cure song. And, it's not on this album. But, you hear echos of it all over this album.
Classic.
I loved Remember back when this album came out. 5 stars for that song. Album on the whole an enjoyable 3.
i mean, really.
Classic
What you'd expect. Besides the 3 hits it's below average.
Headache good. Rest ok.
ok
It's Lynyrd Skynyrd
This project is really starting to suck
this is what i imagine chain smoking would sound like if it made music.
Perfect
Not my fav Sinatra by any means... But Jobim is an amazing musician/song writer and these songs are all classics.
mid
It's the Ramons.
Second African album. I was alive in the 90s and don't remember any of this.
Boring. The exact opposite of the Black Eyed Man album. Hang in there peeps...CJ gets better.
Sooooooo 90s
snore
I always liked a couple of songs...to me they feel like some sort of children's band that sings about adult shit.
No. Stop with the Dylan.
ugh
Yes
F
Soooooouuuuul
Not my fav
always annoying
i give up
Awesome
