1001 Albums Summary

Odd that this was the first album served up to me as I’d only listened again for the first time a few days ago after finding the CD in a charity shop Really liked this album as a kid when it first came out and time has only improved it

Not listened to this for years, really enjoyed hearing it through again

Always thought Simon & Garfunkel where overrated this hasn’t changed that much but hazy shade of winter is a banger so it gets an extra star for that

Nice bit of old school rock

Heard this album so much growing up as Queen where one of my mums favourite bands, couple of dud tracks prevent it from getting the full 5* though

Don McLean has two good songs and they are both on this album

First album served up on this project that I’ve not heard. Always slept on 10cc now will look into them more

This was a bit of a revaluation, only new beck from Odelay and this was a complete step change

This was one of my favourite albums growing up must have listened to it so many times as a result probably given it a star too many

Still my favourite beastie boys album, so much variation and some great instrumentals and sabotage is an all time classic

Great album with Bowles influence evident throughout

I was aware of The Fall mostly due to seeing interviews with Mark E Smith when I was growing up, couldn’t name one of their tunes though so this was a nice introduction. Not blown away but will check out some of their other work

Several tracks missing from this on Spotify so had listen elsewhere. Shows the importance of keeping physical media I guess. A solid introduction into Crosby Stills Nash & Young

This was a really eye opener beautiful and haunting

Really enjoyed this, annoyed now that I missed him when he was supporting a band I was seeing as I hadn’t heard of him

Always thought the Beatles were over rated but this is one of their better efforts. Diverse and some good tracks on it

Mudhoney are often overshadowed by other Grunge stalwarts like Soundgarden and Alice in Chains but this album shines through

This was a pleasant surprise after only knowing 80’s cocaine James Brown

Dylan is a great songwriter but not a great singer

Was served this on the day that Lia, announced the 30th anniversary tour of it. A defining album and moment in Britpop and whilst Oasis became an overblown caricature of themselves you can’t deny the cultural impact of this album

Not their best album but I can’t see why it’s so disliked by many

A stone cold classic.

Not sure this should have been on a 1001 albums to listen to before you die list. Competent enough but nothing really stood out about it so I’d have happily passed without ever hearing it

I like metal, not a massive Slipknot fan though but can’t deny that this is a good album

Siri play me second rate 90’s rock

Growing up my dad was a big Cat Stevens fan but I found him dull. But listening again all these years later I finally fucking get it. A beautiful moving album
