Who Killed...... The Zutons?
The ZutonsUnknown.. I would have liked this then and, but not as much as they like themselves.
Unknown.. I would have liked this then and, but not as much as they like themselves.
So yes, but also no, phobic and raunch.
Heck yeah. Mambo Sun has a special place.
Ah, good memories of seeing her after Tudo (2015?) This one is lovely too.
Totally fine and enjoyable rock, and a gap for me. But I would have had to listen more closely for anything outstanding.
Pure Dan Jazz, listened again this morning.
Blends so smoothly into Yoshimi a fave.
Maybe Your Baby had it all going on, rest was a bit chill?
I feel like I know these, but.
Just as absurdly fun as it was 20 years ago.
More than any nostalgia albums so far (will be true for RATM and NiN too), this me is far enough from now me but so embedded I can't really judge. Unsteady grating repetitive so good.
A few redeeming moments, boomer.
First time listening to a GD album all the way through? How wonderful, familiar and varied, vinyl sides well anchored in richer songs at top and bottom, Box of Rain, Ripple, and Trucking.
Some hits! Still looking out for my favorite Bowie.
Truly industrial punk I don't understand, but in the right mood this would work.
The good parts were good (and not DnB), and I suppose early for that. Maybe I've only heard this before by the good bits being sampled since.
Not for me.
I mean. Tommy. I feel like this album has always been with me, of course it's tied up with first arcade memories, and first rock opera memories. Maybe that's all a bit surface; this has got everything.
I recall glancing off this when it came out, too weird, but turns out in just the strange direction I went. Still weird esp in the middle, but also excellent.
Huh. I listened.
Unknown.. I would have liked this then and, but not as much as they like themselves.
Chill.
Title track is great.
Jesus. To think my parents (who never would have listened to this, and while I know most of it deeply, probably a first full listen for me now) would only think this is glorifying the violence and misogyny. How long before The Wire, before this week and the week before. Glorious funky tracks.
Weird and old enough to be fun. J5 meets The Phenomenauts? Not true enough to it's conceit to earn a Sun Ra comparison except in lack.
This was unbelievably cool
Yazz Floot. I think it’s safe to say that these types of classic jazz standard albums are important to almost no one. Anywhooo, the year is 1963 and we’re all hanging out in our family’s basement bar with our naugahyde furniture. Throw on the Jazz Samba album and let get this orgy rolling.
Another "hey, how did I not listen to this then?" good rock, young love, angry at the man. John Butler Trio in the same race.
Reminds me of horny teenage 90s Country.
Apparently the Stones asked M. C. Escher to design the cover for Let It Bleed but he declined. That would have pushed this to a 5. This album is in the sweet spot of The Rolling Stones’ best era of recording 1968-1972.
So much nostalgia here. I remember seeing the music video for Tonight Tonight, done in the trip to the moon fashion, and being blown away. It was nice to give this a full listen because for years I have cherry picked the hits from it. And there are alot of hits.
All up my alley but new to me. Ethereal introspective lyrics, naturalistic samples and drones over rhythmic guitar. Heck yeah.
Smooooth.
What happens when punk gets soft? Pretty easy listening.
So yes, but also no, phobic and raunch.
Mostly great stuff, but never my first Stones pick.
The synth-horns almost save this but it's all played so straight.
Really just the one great track DANCE.
When I moved to Chicago the MCA had an exhibit on Tropicalia and these bright moons are the thing that's always stuck in my head from it.
Yeah, you love your car.
Great encore cast and banjo.
Slaps.
Definitely not my favorite swift.
Ah, sweet.
"Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums of All Time"
New to me, giants. By the time we get to "Help Me Somebody" or "Moonlight in Glory" this is just majestically refined precursors to everything I love, entirely out of time.
I think my late teen reaction to this was "blah blah jazz snooze"
First LP Dan sent us down here? Yes please.
