Raising Hell
Run-D.M.C.Fine. It's def Run-DMC. Important pioneers but not my jam.

This won't be a first time listen. Soft fan of this album going in, already did it for Hook Club I think. Upon listen, not that impressed, a lot of yoo yoo yah yah stuff and ceaseless lyrical repetition on most of the hooks. BUT there are some solid tracks and it's not bad to listen to.
Them bones is iconic to my upbringing. #madden10 Consistent sound, not my real cup of tea music-wise since I'm a 90s hater. Probably objectively better than 3 stars but I don't feel right giving it that much praise when I don't relate to it hardly at all.
Honestly not my favorite stuff, but I did feel like the album was pretty iconic in its sound and delivery. Album artwork is great and matches the vibe.
Just pretty grumbly but had some nice bits. Not super into the gravelly talk/singing which is pretty much all this is.
I've listened to this more than enough times to know that it's a 5 for me. Checking it out quickly, but besides the fact that it drags a bit towards the tail end, it's beautiful, fun, haunting, whatever it has it all while keeping a clean, consistent vibe which is a fantastic work of love tribute.
nah. punk especially Br*t*sh punk is too rough for me. If people are just gonna romp around and talk sing I don't wanna hear that heavy "oi in 'is 'ears through eyes o tears"
Listened probably 2.5 times now, it's never really stuck even though I want to love it. Still really good music, though, on most tracks.
Sort of like a more funky, electronic Avalanches? But harsher 80s experimental sound with more actual DJ mixing and a raw sound. Liked the stuff that actually had singing. Can't see myself ever going back to this but it wasn't terrible.
It's good, but not something I would listen to unless I was in a certain mood. Very fun music with a lot of personality.
Jazz is not always my jazz but I usually enjoy it. And this is no exception. Crisp and dynamic. I'm thinking 4 just cuz there's nothing wrong with it.
You know, assumed I wouldn't like this too much due to the year of release, but I vibed with it pretty good. Gave me Radiohead energy but without the annoying parts of Radiohead that I don't like (yeah it's Yorke's voice sorry not sorry)
holy cow I hate male singers that sound like this. total deal breaker with this Smiths-type voice. And the music otherwise is unremarkable to me for the most part. A couple decent tracks and several good riffs but I can't give this more than 2 since I really don't enjoy it.
Fine. Nothing crazy but shows the skill of Mariah well and was pleasant to listen to.
Like the samples, fun to recognize a handful of them. Still not a huge BBoys guy though. Very song-dependent.
Why do Police songs linger on with the slowest of fade-outs? Fine but it's the Police. They've got a unique sound and that's worth some praise.
Kinda good for the 90s grunge music. Would like to revisit this again in the future.
Surprisingly really liked this album. Have never gave Led Zep the change they probably deserve, but their music just hasn't really called to me much in the past. Side 2 of this album may change my mind. Ended up saving a ton of songs from this album which I probably haven't heard before? Leaning towards a 4/5, would like to listen to this some more before giving it a confident rating though.
Casual garage rock with a lot of that monotone and painful male singing voice which I really dislike. Violent Femmes-esque. Songs like lake of fire are just kinda ass, idk Leaning 1/5 The instrumental tracks are superior and not bad
I think this album really showcases Hendrix's unique sound and artistic vision. Some killers, some fillers, but overall solid.
So this was better than expected. I think this could drift into 5 star territory in the future as I listen more. It just has such a specific strong vibe
I don't really like this kind of music. It wasn't ass, but I was content to move along as soon as it was completed.
I listened to it once then listened to part of it again. It's good. I'm impressed. Lyrically and musically it transported me to a different era and location. The storytelling and some of the tragedy in the lyrics is what country music is supposed to be. Also, the instrumental bits are really good. Surprise 5.
It's good. Like an approachable, folksy and softer Jethro Tull. I dig it.
Eh, it was fine but covers just aren't my jam, and I didn't dislike but didn't like it. Cool artists and objectively good I suppose, but I didn't feel it outside from That Lady and that's only cuz of the Swiffer commercial from '07.
Funky and fun, but not a lot stuck out to me. Don't really love the disco scene, I like moderately funky jams and some funky bass in my shit but this is a lot to digest.
Enjoyable, fun at times, relaxing at others. Bumping it up to 4 since the artwork and name is dope.
on the surface, just guys being dudes, having fun and rapping about white boy shit. Some serious bangers in here, really remarkable for a debut. It's kind of ass but also there is a lot of skill and talent when you take it more seriously. Don't love the BBoys but have to give credit where credit is due on this one.
Yeah, this smacks. Already knew a few tracks, but it's barely any filler and this type of rap is exactly my jam. Good amount of features without feeling bloated (I'm looking at you, Humanz).
Another great socially-conscious hip-hop album. I like this sorta shit. It drags on a bit. But it had some great hooks and beats. Nothing shattering, more of an art project than something I'd play at a party.
Don't care if it's innovative or fresh or anything, I listened to this like once in full and twice half and it's just not something I enjoyed, really at all.
Listened to it like, 3 times, and honestly, it's really good pop rock. Outside of the obvious couple of mega hits, the rest of the album stands on its own.
RATM is good. I just don't love it personally all that much. Pretty cool for a debut album, there's no hiding from the aggression here, it's in your face as intended. Good album but I won't add it to the rotation.
I mostly liked it, but boy gee is this thing not very memorable to me? Not a fan of this voice type of male singer either. I liked the tracks but it seems like they are all just filler tracks that would be great transition pieces on an amazing album, and yet there's no stand out moments, it just lulls from one track to the next until you're back to the start. If I didn't actually like the instrumentals, this would be a 2 for me.
This is a low 5 at this point. But I listened once and really liked it. It gave me some Avalanches vibes minus the extent of the samples. I look forward to continuing to explore this album, this is the payoff I was looking for when doing this 1001 thing. A lot of the songs just gave me good vibes and reminded me of some other, newer songs that I really like. A bit repetitive with some songs but it's got that electronic vibe that lets you phase out without losing interest.
