getting an album this well known for the first day is pretty cool, as a music fan I've obviously heard of this album but somehow I never checked it out.
the drums at the end of 21st century schizoid man are so cool, never heard anything quite like it.
I talk to the wind is fantastic, kinda sounds like a more progressive later Beatles song? FLUTE!
Epitaph is also incredible, production is incredible and lyrics are also incredible, why haven't I listened to this album before? holy fuck that build up and release (idk what to call it) at the middle of Epitaph :O mind blown
I don't like Moonchild as much as the previous songs but it's still pretty good, drags on too much though imo and has the weirdest sounds.
that improv part seemed really boring to me at the beginning but once I kinda turned off my mind it really grew on me and I liked it.
In the court of the crimson king is fantastic as well, comes in as such a needed surprise after moonchild.
fuck this album is fantastic, should've heard it before.
My ears have been blessed
pretty good, I've listened to some Deep Purple and they never really clicked with me so this wasn't my favorite thing ever but it's still pretty enjoyable.
great performances from everyone in the band (drumming and synths were really good), however, it's still a live album so it's never gonna be as great as a studio one.
the mule kinda sucks though
3/5
I've listened to this album many times before and have always loved, nothing new here
eh, this is the second Prince album I'm listening to (only listened to Purple Rain before) and they're not even comparable, all he talks about here is sex and sex and sex and sex.
Funky grooves all throught but they just got boring to me after a while - 1999 and Little Red Corvette are really good though.
I don't think I get Prince tbh.
2.5/5
One of the best hip-hop albums of all time, incredibly impressive debut (especially for the time period)
production on this albums goes so hard.
I keep getting albums I've heard many times before, Talking Heads are one of the best bands of all time and while this is nowhere near their best album it's still really fucking good.
4/5 imo - incredible album but not perfect, a trully impressive debut that showed incredible potential.
I was expecting to hate it cause it's a 90 minutes but I ended up really enjoying it, really solid live album with great preformences from Van Morrison.
3.5/5
I literally listened to this album yesterday, heard it many times before - love this one.
Debaser may just be one of my favorite songs of all time, such a stronger opening that trully captures everything that is great about The Pixies.
Tame was never my favorite but it's still pretty damn good, the contrast between the screamy chorus and those quiet nerveracking verses is really cool, lyrics are interesting too.
I don't feel like writing about each song - this album is fantastic
5/5
I enjoyed it, just not as much as I hoped I would, I love Bowie so this was kind of a disappointing listen for me.
highlights: Heroes, Beauty and the Beast, Sons of the Silent Age, The Secret Life of Arabia.
holds up pretty well, found it to be pretty boring at times and incredible at others, much worse than other Black Sabbath albums I've heard but still pretty enjoyable and worth a listen.
3/5
don't really have anything to write, I really enjoyed it.
great soul record.
4/5
this is a beautiful album, folk is one of my least favorite genres and yet this album somehow really clicked with me.
instrumentals are unbelievable, seriously gorgeous.
lyrics go from having a glimmer of hope to very depressing.
this is a masterpiece imo, will def listen to his other albums
too much of this boring ass dude singing and not enough of this cool ass lady singing.
never heard of this album or this band but somehow I knew a lot of the songs here, speaks to this album's influence I guess.
really enjoyed it even though it became kinda boring in the middle, picks up towards the end.
Highlights: She Has Funny Cars, Somebody to Love, Today, DCBA 25, White Rabbit
3.5/5
really good rock record though it gets kinda samey towards the end, first half is fantastic.
feels like something I'll listen to a few more times and won't remember at all.
3/5
Incredible production but there are some duds here
boring as fuck and not for me, most of the lyrics are just "I'm sad cause we broke up" :(
atmosphere is interesting but jesus fuck it gets repetetive after 2 songs.
production was also really weak, drowned out drums and guitar on some songs and when they're not they still don't stand out.
1/5
pretty great even if most of it feels like background music
very clearly inspired by Nirvana which makes me wonder why am I listening to this and not Nirvana
2/5
The more I listen to Van Morrison the more I like his music, it's a shame he's such a tool in real life :(
This album is fantastic, every song hits and it has two songs that I consider to be some of the greatest songs ever written (Caravan and Moondance).
MASTAPIECE
my ears have been assaulted
Beautiful but doesn't really go anywhere and is essentially just a collection of nice sounds
3.5/5
Really good!
ugly ass album cover though
4/5
not as good as Aquemini but still very much worth the listen, my main issue is that this album is just too damn long, cut it in about 30 minutes and you got a 5/5 album - as it is though,
3.8/5
I don't even know how to rate something like this but I def enjoyed it a lot
Not bad nor is it good, perfectly mediocre.
2/5
Elevator music the album - that's not a bad thing, this album is incredibly soothing and so smooth to listen to.
Just not really my thing
3/5
the mehest meh to ever meh, fine as background music but not much else.
interesting sounds and they def sound good but there's no way I'll relisten.
2/5
Pretty good, will relisten.
nothing special about it though
3/5
Pretty good but doesn't really flute my boat.
3/5
