Great album overall, some amazing tracks but quite a few skippable
A banger after banger stacked DEBUT album.
It's perfect, ends perfectly.
2004/5 summed up in 50 mins
This album has to be listened in its entirety. I hadn't appreciated Pink Floyd as much as they deserve before this. It was atmospheric, a love letter to a former member and probably mental with a belly full of drugs ππ
I really liked it, although it's more an experience than something I could just pop on.
I like a few Dylan Songs, I understand he can be an incredible songwriter.
That being said this album was bloody hard work, and the god damn harmonica squealing away like a butchered pig.
The most infuriating part is bobs pronunciation on words, drawing out the syllables on everyyyy, siinglee woooord.
Not for me, never again
Can't say in a fan of The Stones, but.
There's 2 songs on this album that I really do love, Paint it Black and Under my Thumb, shout out to Lady Jane also.
Those 3 tracks stand out mainly due to Brian Jones experimentation on different instrument, Sitar on Paint it Black defines that song, Xylophone or Marimba, Dulcimer also, (mad instrument, amazing sound)
Otherwise this album is mehh, the other tracks just aren't for me, and often repetitive.
Was alright
This album was voted in a list of top 200 ever made...
Who writes these lists?
It's not bad, it's not great either, it's alright background music, like a pub cover band.
A few of these songs are covers as well, all the 5 star reviews are overhyped.
I do enjoy Ringo drums though, always against what you would naturally have thought.
It's a middling album, straight down the middle score for me.
Starts of really strong with a classic. Proper dad rock.
I really love the vocals with the Eagles, but my god most of the songs are just boring.
2nd half of this album is so lacklustre, it's really driven my review down, because a few songs here were really great, beautiful even.
Quite disappointed, I liked it ebougb, nothing special aside from a couple of tracks.
Middle of the road
....
So far the 60s records I've heard have had fantastic production. This sounds like it was recorded with tin cans and string, either that or my speakers have blown.
Artsy doesn't mean good, who put this on the list?
Nico is so monotone, no deviation.
Some of the instrumentals would have been lovely if they weren't so muddy sounding.
I hated it.
I think Brian Wilson is a genius, Pet Sounds is an incredible album. A very interesting man, a sad and complicated life.
A lot of this albums hype came from the achievement to BW, having finally released it after it sat unfinished since the 60s, overcoming his mental battles ect ect.
It's a bit circus music in places, just doesn't have the same charm as Beach Boys, all a bit Disney at points with the slide whistles and sound effect. I certainly wouldn't pop this album on.
Good Vibrations always slaps though tbf
It's a shame because I think the man is brilliant otherwise lol.
I neither love or hate, it's alright.
Jesus christ that's a horny album.
Would be 4 stars but some songs are just so long and some just mad filler lol. I really like Prince though, he was an incredible talent.
3 stars, wish it had stayed as strong as it had opened.
Enjoyed this though
An album about death, sung by an old man nearing it.
I thought this was poignant and beautiful, honestly didn5 expect to like this as much as it did.
Those aged vocals hit so good, the covers on this album take on theor own meanings, I know Trent Reznor was asked about the cover of hurt and said "it's not my song anymore"
It's brilliant, it's moving.
Twangy country is really not for me.
There was some nice tracks, Emmylou Harris vocals were very complimentary to Gram Parsons.
I find steel guitar very annoying.
Pleasant enough, not for me though
You can hear the influence the Sex Pistols had on music, and to do so with only 1 album is quite incredible to be honest.
I'm just not a fan I'm afraid, I can appreciate it. Pretty monotonous to listen to a whole album in a sitting.
That being said, ive given much worse albums a 3 and this isn't bad it's just not my taste, I can respect the music, the movement. John Lydon is pretty awful though π
Karen Carpenters story is tragic, she was clearly a very talented drummer and a lovely voice. A shame she died so young.
It's a lovely album, It's just quite bland, background music I wasn't drawn in at all.
My forearms ache just listening to the sheer amount of thrashing.
Thoroughly enjoyed this album, I've never listened to it in full.
I got RSI from bobbing my head so much, it's energetic, it's heavy, proper filthy riffs and fun solos. That's metal baby.
Of course Master of Puppets is the big hit here but my favoirite song was Welcome Home (Sanitarium), and absolutely loved Orion, instrumental was a nice break before smashing the ending.
Play it loud.
Steely Dan are a bit elevator music for me. It's pleasant, I can appreciate it, but not something I feel drawn to.
If I want jazz rock I'd listen to Vulfpeck who you can hear we're heavily influenced by SD.
It's alright.
Was this included in the list because Phil Spector produced it?
Production to be fair is nice in parts, sounds crap in others, it's just bloody dull. Ballad after ballad of boring music.
I'd rather not.
Man o man.... this had been the 2nd Metallica album I've got from this list and probably detrimental as a result.
Some really technical song sin this album, but the production is pretty awful..no bass, tin can vocals in some songs.
Eye of the Beholder was a promising song but jist fell flat due to dodgy production, Herfield slumded under water. The story behind this album is very interesting though
Obviously One is the standout here and massively influential in metal from here on, great track. I also really loved Harvester of Sorrow.
Shame I'm having to rate this middle of the road due to the production, otherwise it's a 4
That being said the end of the album really pulled this all together and I'm retracting my statement. It's gets really awesome. 4
To live is to die is also beautiful.
Without a doubt Nas is lyrically excellent. Illmatic is like a window into the Ghetto, for a white brit the whole topic is another world to me, but Nas is a storyteller.
It's good, production is great. Beats all meld into 1 on this album though, sounds like 40 mins of the same track imo.
Heavy topics, well worded, I think he might have smoked an L at some point. Don't think he mentioned that.
Was going to go middle of road but listening to those samples perfectly repurposed is something magic, also It Ain't Hard to Tell is a great track. Love the flow.
What a voice.
Great album, not something I would put on but well enjoyed, production was very tinny annoyingly. Might be the version on youtube music?
Some tracks I enjoyed, most of this felt so cluttered.
Who can push the most demo buttons on a new yamaha keyboard.
Incredible album and so nostalgic.
Jesus of Duburbia is one of my favourite songs of all time along with Give Me Novocaine.
One of the best albums, one of my most loved.
I like a bit of Wu-Tang, proper hip-hop.
One of the best solo project to come out of the group, refreshing to step away from the more gangster rap, some of the same topics but eloquently rapped.
Great song-writing, great flow.
B.I.B.L.E is such a good song.
It's Adele, she's excellent.
Can get a bit samey listening as a whole
Got pretty samey, vocals I found a bit irritating as the playthrough went on.
Was alright
I find beach boys mesmerising.
Enjoyable record, Help me Rhonda is a great song.
The coming together of vocals is brilliant and skipping from minor and major really special.
I absolutely loved this album
It's a brilliant debut, songwriting is great, I've seen the term power-pop used. It's a meld of so many genres and honestly blew me away.
I knew I enjoyed Costello before this but hadn't done an album in full.
Enjoyed this, would have been 4 if there was more consistency in good songs.
A few too many filler tracks for me.
Chrissy Hynde, great voice though.
I can appreciate Hendrix was doing stuff that people hadn't even considered with a guitar.
He was revolutionary.
It's just not for me
Proper clever rap
Dre is a master of samples, the beats are amazing.
Lyricism on point if you can look past the gangsta content that puts off so many.
If it Ain't Rough was my favourite, Mc Ren flows so nicely, loved those reversed sentence lines.
It's hair/glam metal fun.
Never did take themselves seriously but put out some decent bangers. This albums no exception, fun listen. Wouldn't be my choice of playthrough but can't say it wasn't enjoyable.
Some decent songs, it's just really boring!
Some tracks I really enjoyed but the album as a whole didn't engage me, was pleasant listening though
Wouldn't even need to listen to say 5*
But this album is a pleasure to return to.
Lindsey Buckingham is a brilliant musician and anyone who has tried to learn Never Going Back Again knows the genius of his playing.
Vocals are awesome. Absolutely love it, and it rightly deserves all the praise it gets.
I think they may have done some drugs and had a few affairs but not sure if they mentioned it.
It's good fun, too long though
Tread Water probably the best song
Pleasant, I wouldn't choose to put it on but makes for nice listening.
Just depressing, not Bruce's finest.
And what's with the fake accent, the man's from New Jersey
I have to be in the mood for Jamiroquai, it's a good album, funky.
Was really bored to start off but turned into a pleasant listen. Nothing to write home about though.
Really enjoyed this,
Some tracks weren't doing it for me. But changes and Life on Mars were always getting at least 4 on this one
Would have been 4 had it not been over 2 hours!
Great tracks, proper disco
I liked this, was heavier and lyrically very dark.
Really interesting album
Very slow, didn't engage with me. Pleasant sounding though.
Really enjoyed some of this, awesome stuff
Really great music, instrumentals are fantastic. But the songs do get a bit samey and are long.
Enjoyed a lot of this, it was a bit nutty and really fun
