Favorite songs: Sunday Bloody Sunday, Two Hearts Beat as One, The Refugee
Vocals and drums on opening track are a great hook. But feel like there's a slump of same-y songs until the Refugee
Raw lyrics that I could dive more into, but I just don't enjoy his singing. Unpopular opinion, probably. Wish I was into it, maybe I'll try and revisit again in the future.
Favorite tracks: I Heard it Through the Grapevine, Hey Girl, Gonna Keep On Tryin' Till I Win Your Love. Pleasant on the ears, great backing vocals with a couple duds in the tracklist.
Favorite tracks: Smooth Operator (absolute banger), When am I Going to Make a Living. The rest of the album blends together a bit. Production is solid.
Favorite tracks: American Idiot, Holiday, Give me Novacaine. Angsty. Nostalgic. Not entirely my thing anymore.
Favorite tracks: Locked Inside, Thugga Massina, Mushrooms and Roses. Surprising amount of variety across this record.
Grating voice. Modern English did it better.
Favorite tracks: My Sweet Lord, All Things Must Pass, Isn't it a Pity. Good songwriting overall. Good backing vocals, instrumentation and production. I think the tracklist could have been trimmed down a bit - evidenced by including two versions of the same song. Makes the first half better than the second. Also I Dig Love has some unfortunate lyrics ("I love dig" ??? oof). I like this album though, it's an easy listen.
Favorite tracks: Pyramid Song, I Might Be Wrong, Knives Out, Like Spinning Plates. Pretty cohesive album all around, good production. Not quite as strong as Kid A (I much prefer that version of Morning Bell, too). This album continues the experimental shift in their sound. One of my favorite bands.
I was impressed by the aggressive start to the album and then that started to fade away as the album went on. Doesn't differentiate itself too much from other 90s rock. It's fine when it's on. 2.5/5 if I could give half stars.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy pushing my own boundaries when discovering new music and genres. While I can appreciate how experimental and bold this is, I can safely say I'll never revisit it. At times the various elements (instruments?) come together in a real dissonant or tedious way. Vokuro is pretty. Surprisingly, I'm still interested in hearing some of her other stuff.
Classic. Couple tracks that tread the same ground, but it's a groove that doesn't overstay its welcome. 4.5/5
One of the bands that started my music journey in the early 2000s. Hell of a debut and I can't help but be nostalgic for it.
Wave of Mutilation is great. 15 tracks is just too long for this sound and I couldn't wait for it to end after a while. The vocals and melodies are hit and miss throughout. Didn't hate it, but don't really vibe with it.
Favorite tracks: Everlasting Light, Tighten Up, Ten Cent Pistol. Some standout tracks throughout. I do prefer the more garage rock sound of Rubber Factory overall. The tracklist could have been trimmed down though, too much filler.
I can't get into this one. The vocals are really not doing it for me.
Yeah, it's heartland rock which is fine but not something I gravitate towards. A few good tracks throughout but the sound just gets tiring. Being a fan of The Killers, it's funny realizing now how much of a direct influence this sound shows through on many tracks of theirs that I don't care for much (see Imploding the Mirage).
It's so safe and generic. War is a better album by a large margin. I got so bored with this one..
Favorite tracks: Changes, Quicksand. Versatile, great production. Bowie sounds great on this one.
Mixed bag on this one. I realize the surrounding nature of the album recording and how legendary he remains as an artist, but I can't see myself revisiting this much. Some genuinely good moments sprinkled throughout.
Paper Planes is good. The rest.. not so much. Can't stand it.
Fun, groovy, good songwriting with interesting ideas throughout. Way, way too long to keep me interested though.
Not liking this as much as Let's Get it On. Feels like it's retreading the same ground but with sad lyrics this time. Maybe that's versatile but I'd much rather listen to the former of these two.
Some good tracks here like Suspicious Minds. I like the mix and backing vocals.
Passionate and unique vocals over some decent songwriting. Love the opening track. Gets a bit stale after a while.
I will die happy if I never have to hear the electric jug again in my life. Who let Yoko in the studio??
Tears for Fears but boring. Meh.
Favorite tracks: Sixteen Saltines, Love Interruption, I'm Shakin'. Overall, a good first solo record after The White Stripes. Many of these ideas get perfected on his later solo records, but it's a good start with some forgettable tracks in the mix. Jack White sure knows how to write catchy riffs.
Favorite Tracks: So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson, B.O.B.. Fun album - great lyrics and production. I don't really care for the skits, but they don't get in the way too much as the album goes on. Very enjoyable overall.
I wanted to like this more than I did. Didn't really care for the songwriting across this and I can't stand the title track.
My only previous exposure to Bobby's music was with Gorillaz (Stylo specifically). So it's no surprise here that he's got powerful vocals. Nice production, backing vocals and range of instruments in the tracklist here. Love how prominent the bass is in the mix - so funky. It's a vibe, no doubt, with some cheesy lyrics and undeniably 80s sound.
It's decent? More background music than an active listen for me. Didn't hate it. Didn't love it.
Mixed bag - some pretty fun tracks and some that just would not end. Ska and reggae are not a typical listen for me. It was alright, just don't see myself revisiting this one.
This sound wore out very quickly for me. Boring lounge music with no soul..
With the obvious standouts being Money for Nothing and Walk of Life, the rest is still decent (though dated) with the guitar work pulling a lot of the weight. Some filler tracks - 2.5/5
I can't get into these vocals. Sounds like a precursor to Two Door Comments Club but without the fun.
First track was ok, then it became very boring. Didn't care at all for this one.
Mostly inoffensive tracks. It's fine other than the guitar on Find Somebody.
Not that many stand-out tracks on this, to be honest. Their later work really expanded on the ideas here and I prefer those albums much more.
I didn't care for the singing on this one. Meh.
Easy listen, though nothing really stood out to me. Similar in sound to the Black Keys. 2.5/5
Favorite tracks: Planet Telex, High and Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, Street Spirit. One of the weaker Radiohead albums overall, but still has really high highs across the album and is much better than their debut.
Pretty enjoyable even outside of the obvious hits. Can't say it's something I'd listen to off-hand, but pleasant overall.
I move between "eh, it's fine" and "wow this is annoyingly repetetive, can't wait for it to change" and "ok, this is pretty decent". Leaves me feeling really indifferent about the whole thing. Plus, it's quite long - making it an exhausting listen.
I want to like this a lot more than I did. It's so..inconsistent. Just when I feel like an idea is about to flourish into a cool track it lets me down and falls flat. Not everything is mediocre here but so much of it is. Still, I respect the weirdness this album brings.
This was an enjoyable listen. The dynamic between the members is great and there's a lot of variety across the record. Only song I didn't care for is Listen to the Music because I can't stand the original.
Pretty strong start to the album, but falls into a slump of songs in the middle that I had to skip after a while of listening. By the end, I was bored and didn't really care anymore.
Sounds like a blatant rip off of The Bends. Boring and bland..
Good lord this isn't for me. This sound has not aged well at all. Leave this one in the 90s.
Even knowing the context surrounding this album, it meanders all over the place and rambles on. Should an album like this even be 'enjoyed', or is it more peering into the mental state of a person that made it appear on this list? The tracks are not so remarkable regardless.
Pretty easy listen. Having recently listened to Joplin on this albums list, I get similar vibes, though I prefer this sound more. I don't have much bad to say about this one other than it's not something I'd listen to off-hand.
Massively influential. I don't revisit this one anymore, but it was on repeat a decade ago. The themes are better explored on The Suburbs and it's a better album overall. I think this one has been played to death but it's still over-hated.
Despite the outdated slurs and references and duds in the tracklist - this thing slaps. Shocking. Vile. And when it hits, it hits.
Not his best album, but I can't deny it's an enjoyable listen.
Some fun experimental bits throughout. But man, these vocals are not good.
Sounds like the band had fun making this one. It's lively and very much a product of its time. Not my thing, but not bad.
Title track is good. The rest had good ideas at their core, but never really developed into anything memorable - just more 80s sounds. Meh.
Sounds like dad rock. Not terrible, not great.
Messy, annoying and thankfully only 15 minutes long.
I guess I like Elvis in small doses. Some decent tracks on here.
Not a huge fan of reggae, but it's a vibe. Gets a bit stale after a while. Decent background music.
A chore to get through and I couldn't finish it. Not a huge fan of live albums to begin with.
I had high hopes, but this thing is way too long with a noticeable lack of hooks. Disappointed.
Improves on their past work in every way. Easily their best album with almost no skips.
A fun take on some classic songs.
Pleasant. The songwriting grows a little tired by the midpoint unfortunately.
Not a fan of live albums in general and this one didn't win me over. Couldn't finish it.
Pretty consistent throughout. Lots of cool details throughout. I like the production. Wears a bit thin after a while.
Early 90s sound that didn't leave much of an impression on me. Had to skip some tracks that droned on.
Odd experimental mix of futurism and retro that ends up being kind of a boring mess..
Lots of variety that leaves me feeling mixed. I enjoyed the punk tracks on this more than anything else. Overall didn't change my opinion on these guys. 2.5/5
Solid. Guitar work is great. Unfortuantely a bit long for me.
That voice..that damned voice. Otherwise the tunes are serviceable and same-y.
I'm finding that I enjoy a few tracks off of Stones albums and the rest is just ok. Not bad, just..fine.
War Pigs is good. Otherwise, not for me.
Nice. POV: I'm sipping a cocktail while sitting at a fancy bar with this in the background.
I've known and enjoyed the song Damaged before listening to the entire thing. I wish the rest left more of an impression on me but I don't care as much for this as I wanted to.
Used to love Hallelujah, now I can't stand to listen to it anymore. The rest of this is fine musically, but I had to skip through it.
No doubt these guys made great music. But live albums aren't for me.
Right in the nostalgia. So much creativity across this thing. Only gripes are the numerous interludes and overall length could have used some trimming. Still, some great tracks throughout.
Nothing really wrong with it necessarily. It's just not for me.
Smooth. Not something I'd put on casually but it's a nice listen.
