All That You Can't Leave Behind
U2
I never understood the appeal of U2 and this record did not help convince me. Even when a song starts to sound like it could be good, Bono comes on and ruins it. The dude sounds like shit.
Best songs on it were just ok. Beautiful Day, Wild Honey, When I Look at the World and The Ground Beneath her Feet are the best moments but none of them are particularly great. Not a terrible listen though and I might favorite one or two of them to come back to.

Is This It
The Strokes
Probably one of the greatest alternative records of all time.
I truly am envious of anyone who hasn’t listened to this and gets to listen to it for the first time. From the first notes of the first song, it’s catchy, fun and innovative. Genre defining, era defining.. I don’t have enough praise for this album.
Top tracks are Is This It, Soma, Someday, Last Nite and Hard to Explain but truly every single song on here is incredible

Sticky Fingers
The Rolling Stones
I’ve always had a lot of respect for the stones even though I never grew up listening to them and only know a handful of their songs. This record is such a vibe and I could see how if this came into your life at the right time how it could dominate you completely.
Such a great sound: moody, catchy and unafraid to stretch out. I had heard Wild Horses before and always liked it but when surrounded by all the other songs on this record it especially shines. The A-side of this is superb from start to finish.
Highlights for me are Brown Sugar, Sway, Wild Horses and the absolutely epic Can’t You Hear Me Knocking.

2112
Rush
Another album that I’ve always loved and an absolute icon of progressive rock. The titular track (and entire A-side of the record) is incredible and doesn’t overstay a moment of its 20+ minute runtime.
The B-side has always been interesting to me because it’s so hard to add songs to an album that seems to have already said everything it wants to say. Does Passage to Bangkok really add anything or even relate to 2112? No, probably not but it fucking rocks and is one of my favorite Rush songs. I don’t think it’s a perfectly balanced record but it’s an iconic one and I was so happy to revisit it.
Best tracks are 2112 (obviously), Passage to Bangkok and Something for Nothing

Coat Of Many Colors
Dolly Parton
I was criminally late to country music and I feel like it’s because records like this one weren’t being played where I was growing up. Dolly is mesmerizing and this record is a delight from start to finish.
Some moments are slow and melancholic, some are upbeat and invigorating. Either way, Dolly’s voice shines at every corner and the song writing is earnest and full of heart.
Highlights include Coat of Many Colors, She Never Met a Man, Early Morning Breeze, A Better Place to Live. But every song is delightful in its own way and those picks are just based on the current first pass
