Vol. 4
Black SabbathBrings back memories of simpler times in Lincolnshire barns! Good, honest, simple heavy rock, what's not to like!?

It's ok as background music & an occasional listen (I actually have it on CD), but that's about it. However Comfortably Numb is a travesty, should have been drowned at birth!
I'll rate it straight away, I own it, loved it when it came out, saw it performed live, still love it!
First time I've listened to the whole album, although I obviously recognise some of the standout tracks. I agree, it is a bit long and there are some unnecessary fillers in there, but she does have amazing voice. Worth another listen at some point.
I like Tom Petty, but prefer him with his later stuff.
Yes, apart from the Paul McCartney debacle, this album still sounds pretty good, I didn't think it was going to hold up, but some real classic tracks.
Musically, ok for some tracks; lyrics pointless. Might just as well have gone la la la all the time (and that's me not a lyrics person!). Wouldn't have been particularly impressed in 1977, don't think my impression is much different now. Reuters, Strange, Mannequin I would listen to again. Having said that, I would at least listen to their subsequent albums to see if they live up to their (?) suggestion they are innovative each time.
Couple of tracks I recognised, a nice album for the background, but that's about it.
Didn't really know this as an album, obviously know some of the stand out tracks. It's a bit of a mixed bag, but the adaption of traditional folk songs is quite interesting. Favourite track for me though is Psychodrama City.

Nice to listen to this again, I think it stands up really well, given its age. Obviously some bangers on there, but some of the less well played tracks are quite interesting, I've always liked the chord structures he uses.
It was ok, quite a nice happy vibe to it, but after the first couple of tracks it sorted of faded into the background while I got on with other stuff. Wouldn't rush to listen again.
Just a great album; great variation of songs, all so beautifully presented with that gorgeous voice.
Not for me (although I agree some early REM sounds to some tracks). Too long, too samey, got bored.
Typical Willie Nelson, love his voice, his guitar playing, the style variations & the story telling.
Haven't listened to Adele for some time, but when you listen to this you realise what an amazing talent she is (was?). Fantastic selection of songs, different styles and that amazing voice. Loved hearing it again.
Clearly some bangers here, but I think the less well known tracks stand up really well. Really enjoyed listening to this.
Similar sort of comments to those for Talking Book. Even more bangers (you forget how many there were on this album) and his voice is in brilliant form. Really like it.
Bit of a mixed bag and don't know this as an album. I know some of the tracks though, so I might have a greatest hits lurking somewhere. Not a favourite, but definitely would listen again.
Didn't really listen or appreciate him at the time, but my goodness how this album has stood the test of time. Amazing songwriter.
Always loved these guys & the sound they created. Liz Frazer's use of her voice as another instrument rather than singing words was truly inspirational.
A real mixed bag, some good tracks, some nice guitar work, some awful vocals. It's ok.
Well I listened to it all, but it was a struggle. Clearly I'm the wrong target demographic for this, but it's still not a preferred style of music for me. Couple of good tracks that were released as singles, but overall not for me.
Well if you like Elvis you'll like this; but I'm not a huge fan of his I'm afraid. In The Ghetto & Suspicious Minds clearly are stand out tracks, but the rest are just too schmaltzy for me.
Well, if they'd just stuck with the hits & got rid of the dross, this might have been the making of an ok album. As it is, far too long, too much filler, not for me I'm afraid.
Very appropriate to review this week, stands up well. Wasn't really into them that much at the time, but they were pushing boundaries. Good to hear again as the whole album rather than the usual selected tracks.
All I can say is thank god it's finished.
Well that was a refreshing change after listening to Beastie Boys. Good old heavy rock, great guitar work & Axl's amazing voice.
Well it was slightly more bearable than their first album, but for me that's not saying a lot. I like the music & rhythms & the imaginative use of samples, but as soon as they open their mouths, it just turns me off.
Didn't know this group at all, but I really liked listening to this album. Loved the harmonising (shades of Beach Boys in places) and the experimenting with the stereo channels with different instruments. Preferred their version of Stepping Stone as well. Definitely worth more listens.
A great album from Madonna, I feel it really demonstrated how good a singer & songwriter she could be, not just a pop singer. Of course it helped having William Orbit behind the controls, but loved the different styles that were adopted.
I wasn't sure about this at the time, felt it was oversold & everyone being rather sycophantic because he died soon after it's release. However I've listened to it a few times now and it's grown on me. I still don't think it's his best, but it is an interesting listen.
Good old fashioned guitar rock and roll. Was never a massive fan at the time, but there's definitely a bit of nostalgia about them. Enjoyable.
Enjoyed hearing this again, they were definitely a pioneering group of musicians fuzing blues, rock, jazz in ways not heard previously. Shame the ego's got in the way!
Quite enjoyed listening to this, a much rawer presentation of some classic tracks & sounds pretty impressive given it was recorded on just 2 tracks. Personally I do think some of the rave reviews from other artists is a bit OTT, but then what do I know!
Like it, great rhythm & all the instruments just meld into a perfect, addictive whole. Obviously not all the lyrics resonate much with this "white, privileged" boy, but enjoyed them all the same.
I think it's been said elsewhere, but this group were the foundation for so many country rock bands to follow (Eagles, Doobie's etcl. The musicality & musicianship of each them is great to hear and blends into a fabulous cohesive unit. Really like it.
