Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul
Otis ReddingClassic Soul vibes from one of the best! Killer song selection (mostly covers) and the backing band smokes( Booker T & the M.G.s)! I never heard this album but I will be playing it again!! 4 stars

Never in my life had I listened to this artist ! I stopped buying new music in the late 80’s! I loved this album and will playing it again!
Scratching, low-fi sounds, samples, repetitive loops, depressing… not for Me!
Never would have guessed the year was 1973 would have thought of it later ‘70s during Punk Rock era. Song writing good… sound quality overall pretty bad… the sound of the lead guitar is harsh but the rhythm guitar parts are very cool and catchy …. I personally can’t get past the bad sound…
Album not available in your country on imusic
Great Bass! Don’t like the vox at all
A perfect 5.0, great song writing…. Great playing… the production and sound quality is top notch! This album brings back memories! Guitar sound and playing is awesome!
Great early progressive album … had I listened to it when I was young it would have the nastalgia factor … but without that .. the sounds are dated back to the early 70’s …
Important album … great songs… never could get used to his voice .. 3 stars
Spade music good vocals and melodies not very upbeat
Great memories “Cisco kid was a friend of mine…” Some of the songs go on a little long
Great album didn’t own this one -so I only ever heard “Young Americans” and “Fame” but the whole album is great! I can hear David Sanborn all over this album! Great bass also 4 stars!!!
Great memories of the hitsexpress yourself, like a prayer, cherish .. never heard the rest but it was typical 80s Madonna !! The song with Orince was very cool
Garbage! If I made a list “1001 albums I’d rather die than listen to again” this would be #1. Noise pollution! Johnny Rotten called the album noise and he was right! “Fodderstompf” on repeat could replace waterboarding as torture! Some music doesn’t age well but this def. Sucked right when it came out! I will give it 1 star only because I can’t give it ZERO!
Brings back memoies my friend had this album right when it came out !!! Great memories
Bill Evans. Scott LaFaro, & Paul Motion! Awesome playing great straight ahead jazz!
Good album… great guitars! For some reason I was never a JP fan although I loved solo Ozzy, Sabbath, AC/DC, BOC, something about the voice quality didn’t sit with me! I was in a basement band that played “you got another thing coming”, “breaking the law”, and “grinder” so those were fun memories…. The song “United” was so contrived and cheesy I almost shut it off. But I battled through and listened to the whole thing! Great 80’s metal - 3 stars
Classic Soul vibes from one of the best! Killer song selection (mostly covers) and the backing band smokes( Booker T & the M.G.s)! I never heard this album but I will be playing it again!! 4 stars
Great early 70’s Blues based rock!! Rod Stewart’s vox are great… some of the tunes and sounds remind me of the Stones from that era! BUT if you have Rod Stewart in your band you shouldn’t let anyone else sing lead on your album! 4 Stars!
No was a huge Elvis fan… don’t like the country/rockabillie thing at all. But this album sounds more main stream to me than most of his earlier stuff… pretty good!
Musically it was good - great melodies and a nice harmonies! A couple songs the lead vocals had a diff sound to them and they were hard to listen to. Probably 4 stars for the music and 2 stars for listening to an album in another language… so in balance 3 stars
Great memories - Famcing Queen, Money Money Money, knowing Me Knowing You, Fernando !!!! Wow I never heard the album but the album tracks did not disappoint! Well crafted danceable pop from the mid-70s! 4 stars
Great vocals and songwriting … I’m too old some of the backing “music” sounds like noise 3 stars
Peter Gabriel!!! I never owned this but loved every song.. so then it was on to “Melt” then “So”!!! He is so talented… I’m going to listen to his whole discography !!!4 stars
“Joy” division ??? Strange name … this music is totally lacking in any thing close to Joy…. I was sad to read about what happened to the singer : ( … so far proto- punk, post- punk, punk… any style that has “punk” in it … seems to be code for “the guys in the band didn’t bother to learn how to play their instruments”
Just No!!! I will give it 1 star because there is no way to give it 0 … this is noise with a beat… doesn’t Even come close to qualifying as music. 1 Star (really 0)
I remember when this came out I was a bit disappointed when I first heard it… I was a “Rio Grande Mud” “Tres Hombres” kind of guy. But it grew on me fast… regardless of the sounds used the song writing and guitar playing are top notch! This era of Z Z Top probably insured their longevity …. Great memories of seeing them on MTV when I hear these tunes! 4 stars !!
I never heard of this album or this artist. Listening to it I find it hard to believe it was not a big success back in the early 70’s when it came out. Such a captivating voice and great guitar playing, the song writing is top notch!! After listening to this I went and listened to his other works but I do find the paired down presentation of “Pink Moon” most fitting for this artist!!! 4 stars!
Depeche Mode having come up in the 80’s slipped under my radar. I can honestly say I bought 100s of albums during the 80’s and not one by this band. Having listened to this I must say the sounds and the music were very good. At time the vocal “melodies” went out of my taste. But overall this was a very good album 3 stars (3.5 if this app allowed it)
If you, like I, are only familiar with the huge hits- Don’t You(forget about me), Alive and Kicking, Sanctify… you owe it to yourself to give this album a listen. Infectious 1980’s synth pop sound will transport you back in time to “the Breakfest Club”. Every song (except one)is really well crafted 80’s pop… the one track that to me seems like “filler” is “Somebody Up there Likes You”. I don’t say this because it’s an instrumental (I love instrumentals) but it is a 5 minute track that drones on and on and never goes anywhere… sounds more like an ad for the synth sounds than a song … for this reason 3 1/2 stars instead of 4.
One of the most famous albums from the 1970s. Many consider this Dylan’s most important work!! The song writing is top notch! I personally cannot get paste his voice. I enjoy the craftsmanship but his “singing” makes this a rare listen for me 3 1/2 stars
1970s smooth soul… classic sounds.. falcetto vocals… an album I really enjoyed 4 stars
1980’s pop with a soul twist this is the first album by “Simply Red” and contains his hits “Holding Back the Years” and “Money’s too Tight to Mention”. Great album the 80’s synth keyboard sounds but with real bass and drums … the only thing that has not aged well are some of the “shout choruses” … they may have been a cool throw back thing in the 80s… but they sound really cheesy now. 4 stars
Hmmm album you need to listen to before you die ??? Not sure about this one… it’s hard to describe … it sounds a little like a soundtrack to a PBS or “after school” movie. I listen to a lot of instrumental music but usually there is some virtuosity being displayed… this was like an album Of elevator music … pleasant enough, competent playing… but I kept asking “why?” 2 stars
Punk/Reggae not really my thing… liked some of the music not so much the vocals on some. “Liebe and Romanze” which is on as a “bonus track” is anything but a bonus… pure torture and a waste of 4 minutes and 41 seconds. 2 stars
This is a great album. Early Rock n Roll at it’s finest! Great song writing, singing, and playing. I have a closer connection to some of the covers of these songs but this album shows what a powerful impact Holly had during his short life/career. 4 Stars
Listened to this album 100 times… I know every word and every note! Had the movie on VHS saw that many many times too! Prince at his peak! 5 stars
Classic Bowie great song writing and production! Brings back memories!
Great album! Sounds like a greatest hits album from the 90s. Even the non-single tracks are great! Everything comes together on this album! 4 stars
I was never a big prog rock fan… concept albums… rock operas not my thing! BUT this album is great… Genesis with Peter Gabriel at their height! The music composition and lyrics to the individual songs are great… Gabriel’s voice is in top form …. 3.75 stars
I admit I had never listened to Beck before. While it was quite listenable the overall tone was a bit too dark and depressing for my taste. Easier to listen to than some songs on this list that I just can’t make it through but nothing on here will make me want to listen to this album again. 3 Stars.
I know the Clash are THE punk band and this may be the ultimate album… but it’s not for me. In 1977 I would have been listening to - Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd,AC/DC, Clapton, STYX, Kansas- all the music the Clash is rebelling against. Add 48 years to the equation and the Clash are even less appealing to me now than they were then 2 stars
This is just hard to listen to! Now I know why even though I was buying tons of albums in the 80’s I never heard of these guys! How about a new book “1001 albums You’ll Actually Enjoy Listening to!” 1 star only because there is now way to rate it ZERO!
Important album but I would never listen to it again. Some of the songs were just weird… was there a live ballad for Stevie Wonder?? Did a slow jam break down to a spoken religious sermon ? At times it sounds like two completely different albums mashed together! Some of it was good 2.5 stars !
Absolute and utter garbage! It has absolutely no business on this list! Hey Fred what rhymes with f*ck? Oh yeah F*ck ….. did I mention that it is garbage?? Really wish I could click Zero stars … I will click 1 start because I have to but just know that it’s a “negative 1” rating! Only a real chocolate starfish would put this trash on a this list!
Classic! I had it on vinyl in the 70’s and just a few years ago I bought it on vinyl again when I started collecting vinyl again! I was right about to give up doing this daily listening if I got one more; proto-punk, punk, post- punk, pre-punk, punk-punk album! Sick of listen to records made by people who proudly didn’t bother to learn how to play their instruments! Then this came along —— the 1001 list gets a reprieve and lives another day!!! 5 stars
Not my bag BUT well played, sung, and written. I probably won’t go out of my way to play it again but I’m glad I heard it!
