Odelay
Becknever really listened to Beck, but it’s familiar. Very eclectic, folk, hiphop, Beastie Boys and LCD Soundsystem, I hear a lot of influences/influencees. It’s experimental, weird sounds including static.

nostalgic, very 90s, My So-Called Life, Flannel, sadness, familiar but not known, Gen X coded
solid rock, I see why older folks enjoy U2. Bono‘s voice still annoys me though.
smooth, groovy, deep lyrics hidden in easy listening
Whimsical, in a way. I can’t get over the (rampant) child rape. I don’t care if everyone was doing it. I do hear some stuff that has been repeated often since. He’s been an influence for sure. I do agree with the Andy Warhol hate (?). Still not a great song though. Nevermind, it was supposed to be a tribute. Apparently Andy hated it.
love my doorbell, nostalgic, groovy, who was he pining for? She was literally haunting him. Was it Renee Zellweger? Apparently Rita Hayworth and ‚truth‘. I love the White Stripes and I love this record. Shoutout to Meg, first woman for me in this very male 1001-lineup…
influential music by an a**. Thom Yorke singing ‚I want to be part of humanity‘ is rich. I love ‚Just‘, thank goodness for the Mark Ronson version.
seven minutes into the first song and nothing has happened. This is going to be a long one. Lots of guitars, fades into the background with the (occasional) mumbled singing. You probably had to be there. I do prefer the originals, not the digital remasterings.
original emo, perpetually horny and angry at some woman he hates. what in the misogyny is this? wild how all the 2000 boy bands sound like him, time really is a flat circle. I love the music but it’s hard to listen to the lyrics. Pump it up!!! Olivia Rodrigo ey?
Punk beats and country rock, didn’t know it before listening, some songs feel familiar. Nice guitar sound, slightly grungy, Kurt Cobain definitely knew them. And then comes Lake of Fire, haha, called it. This is Nirvana‘s origin basically.
boring. And a hymn in Israel in 1971? No.
Hadn’t heard this in years. I realize I mostly know Clint Eastwood. I thought they’d had more hits. Fun listen and very nostalgic.
really fun to listen to, such a 90s record, including the references to John Gotti.
this is better than the other record I heard. Still a child rapist. I did hear a sample Apollo 440 used (hey man), which I enjoyed.
never heard of them even though it’s solidly my age group. Words is very pretty. The sound reminds me a bit of Incubus at times. Also Coldplay. Solid rock, a bit dreamy.
not impressed, it’s mostly just the same riff over and over again. I do like Ozzy‘s voice. The supposed anti-war message is not very convincing.
a lot more repetitive and psychedelic than I remembered. I‘m more of a 2000s Chemical Brothers girl, I think.
did not know this. Easy to listen to, but more of a background sound to me. Actually pretty boring, I kept skipping through songs as they are very repetitive. My attention span cannot deal with it. Some of it sounds familiar, I probably heard it somewhere at some point.
nice bells and riff. It’s very iconic. Also a formula, a bit repetitive. But fun and the songs are not too long.
I don’t think I ever consciously listened to this but it feels so familiar. Like a warm hug, that kind of rock that aligns with your pulse. The world definitely was better in 1993. I love this, so perfectly nostalgic.
first listen but the style is very familiar. Love it. The lyrics aren’t terrible I think. And if course I know For What it’s worth, just not by name. Not on the album of course

very comforting intro, like everything will be ok. Cozy rock.
Blister in the sun! My so-called life! Never heard the rest. Some of the lyrics are cringe ‚why can’t I get just one kiss/screw/fuck‘ and downright scary. Emo fuckboy vibe from the 80s, I guess they‘ve always existed.
Funky, groovy, and the lyrics are downright cute. A bit of politics, but not too much. A Stevie Wonder fan (love?) song. Very anti gangster, some Jesus love, also don’t push me, cause I‘m close to the edge…oh also some misogyny, yay! Poor men get fucked over by women, who are too feminist l.
that Intro is so good. Cool people music that I didn’t listen to back in the day. A guy who was much cooler than I was made me a mix-memory stick with the xx on it.
Guitars.
Shine on you crazy diamond is such a calming song. Perfect brain waves. Pink Floyd really saw the world as it is. My mom said they were ‚too intellectual‘ for her. Dad has 5 non-classical vinyls and one of them is Atom Heart Mother. Wish you were here was my favourite song as a kid listening to the radio (we did not have a TV).
Iconic guitar and voice. Interesting to hear a song about manic depression in the 60ies. The talent is so palpable. Red House intro is so recognizable.
Girls&Boys is iconic. The 90s were better somehow. The album is pretty weird. Definitely where the Streets got his style from. A bit Pink Floydy.
I don’t know much about Brian Eno except he gets name checked by MGMT and he’s spoken up about Palestine. Very 70ies, psychedelic, ladadaday. Here come the warm jets sounds so familiar, definitely inspiration for others.
the title seems missleading? I‘d call this jazz I think. Lots of classics and Ray Charles sounds fantastic.
Stronger than me is pretty homophobic actually. F me Pumps a bit sexist, but honest. I love Amy, but this wasn’t as good as I remembered. Her masterpiece is Back to Black, but this does showcase her talent. I wish she could have stayed with us.
Finally getting some girls, Shirley!! Sultry voice. ‚This is not my idea of a good time‘ It’s good but also a bit monotone. Still a vibe.
raspy dystopia. It’s pretty uncomfortable, lots of noisy sounds, grating at times. It’s interesting, more poems than songs at times. ‚the ocean doesn’t want me today‘. Very anachronistic, something from the 70s. But of course the 70s and 90s are linked.
