1001 Albums Summary

Close to 4 stars on account of some truly iconic tracks, but second half is a bit of a snoozefest and unremarkable. Found a similar pattern on Sam’s Town too - feels like they wrote three massive hits, and had to put an album around them. Some of the bass parts are wicked and had never noticed before. Surely one of the best things that the Mormons have ever made.

A great addition to my limited jazz library - not something I’ll gravitate to often, but every now and then that itch needs a scratch and this is a good alternative to just going back to Kind of Blue every time.

Exactly what this record needs to be. Love how the songs feel like they completely lose time during the solos. Got to work in record time this morning, heart rate still hasn’t recovered.

Fun as hell, unpretentious, well written short and sweet.

It sounds like everything else from the era. Didn’t not like it, recognized lots, but until today would have told you in full confidence that I couldn’t name a single mamas and papas song.

Not bad enough to drop under 3 but this 60’s hippy-glee pop just doesn’t hit for me.

I’ll never like Neil’s vibrato, but this is a gooder overall.
