I liked it. It wasn’t AMAZING but I did like it. Will listen to it again today. Got a little bit of Hot Chip vibes.
It was ok. Of course the hit is a classic. Also liked the Llama one, Pocahontas, and Welfare Moms a distant third.
I like the Prophet Song. I like the Lazing Sunday song. The Good Company song felt very Beatles to me. Appreciate the use of harp and ukulele and just all the great guitar riffs. And of course Bohemian Rhapsody is truly a classic, beyond iconic song. But I don’t think I can give the album a 5 just because of that. It’s really good. But I don’t think it’s a 5 for me.
Giving this a 2 doesn’t really feel 4. It’s hardly more than a 3 for me though. Cinnamon Girl
Is pretty good. Down By The River just reeks of misogyny too much. I kind of liked the Requiem song.
Look - to give this album 2 stars seems harsh. But the songs all sounded the same. Nothing was that great/ the Blue Monday one was best. Perhaps the lyrics are poignant but I don’t really pay attention. Sorry, Curtis.
I was thrilled to see this. Love this album and have not listened to in years. Chicago is a masterpiece. I’d say the album is more of a 4.5 to 4.75 lol. But have to round up and I believe it deserves 5 stars all the way through! John Wayne Gacy, Jr hit me differently this time bc I now know who he is.
I really didn’t like this. Giving it a 1 feels extreme bc I sense the man has some talent. But this wasn’t for me. I feel like I want to give it a one, but I will give it some credit. As one review said. Definitely some goofy English stuff lol.
This album is a solid 4 maybe 4.25, but not a 5 star for me. I like it, solid pop album. Jack A knows what he’s doing. I’m surprised to see it was on Rolling Stone’s list of 500 greatest albums ever. I didn’t think it was *that* great. Perhaps it has to grow on me with listening a few more times. Either way; solid, good bops!
Tbh I liked this for the most part. Giving it three stars. Considered two but that’s not fair considering I gave several albums a 3 and I probably enjoyed them less. I like electronic music so it was mostly fine for me.
I want to give this album a 4 mostly for Pump it Up but it’s not a 4 for me. Not after 1-2 listens. Not a huge Elvis Costello appreciator, but this album helped. Radio, Radio is good too. But just mid overall for me.
I’m going to give this a 4. I’m shocked tbh. Any time I hear the Who on the radio I usually kind of roll my eyes and change it. I don’t know why. Just was never a huge fan. But they are classic for a reason. The drums are kicking on this album. There are quite a few hits, that actually are good, I just have been overexposed to them. I actually did mostly like it.
This one surprised me and then I saw everyone else’s ratings. First of all, the harp, the orchestra…. It’s so 90s too. So happy to have discovered this one!
This was a huge, pleasant surprise. In my mind I scoff at Cat Stevens, I don’t really know why. Just do. But I liked this!
I enjoyed this for the history and culture around it. Fun little ditties. Nothing that really really caught and grabbed me but I felt like it still deserved a 4.
When I think of Elvis I guess I mostly think of the sound of his earlier music. Upon listening and of course seeing the release year I realized this was a bit later on in his career. It definitely has a more produced sound, which at times is good. Some of the songs are pretty sappy but also touching, like the Daddy Don’t Cry one and the one about Mama’s roses. Nothing amazing about this but certainly not bad, I generally enjoyed it.
This was very much just fine. Feels better than a 2. I did like the use of strings in ambulance song and the banjo and vibe of Turnstile song. This is my third Neil Young in three weeks. He’s fine but I don’t see what’s so great.
This was Ok. Some of the tunes were groovy, such a cool 60s sound. But not a 4 for me.
I struggle between giving this a 2 or 3. Feels like I give everything a 3. I appreciated the 90s/80s sound and the historical significance of Bjork.
This is absolutely not my type of music. I think I have to give it a 1. I did like the TV watching track.
This was a shocker. Granted, when I read it was the Sgt Peppers of hip hop, that probably already biased me more positively. But when this album came up I was immediately disappointed. I historically don’t like the Beastie Boys. This album surprised me, in a good way. I still
Probably won’t seek out listening to the Beastie Boys per se, but I did enjoy this and might even listen again!
This was better than I anticipated but just ok.
This album is pretty fire. I didn’t love every track but there’s so many true bangers on it, I had to give it a 5.
This was just OK. Didn’t speak to me. Surprised it’s regarded as so great.
