Track 1: With a name like “Primal Scream,” I was expecting a very loud, brash album that wouldn’t appeal to me much. But, as of the first track “Burning Wheel,” I am thoroughly enjoying it. There are lots of elements which remind me of the music I so dearly love from the 60s. There are also lots of Shoegaze and ambient aspects which are fun. The panning and reversed snare on the opening track reminds me a lot of “Are You Experienced?” by Jimi Hendrix.
Track 2: Very nice drum machine, not trying to be too much, reminds me of “There’s a Riot Goin’ on” by Sly and the Family Stone. I love me a good instrumental and this has done very well at keeping my attention by using panning and atmosphere building as the song flows. I want to know why they titled it “Get Duffy” though.
Track 3: Smooth transition, love it. For being as creepy and weird as it is, I’m grooving right now. They said the line!!! This feels like something I should hate but I’m really feeling it.
Track 4: Oh wow!! “Star” is by far one of my favorite songs of the 90s I’ve ever heard. Hard hitting, still poignant lyrics that I feel so deeply. This will for sure be joining my regular rotation.
Track 5: Crazy title, stood out when I was looking at the track list. It reminds me of LEGO City Undercover LMAO.
Track 6: Ugh I love the use of Indian classical instruments in tandem with the more modern ones. This is another very vibey one, vocals remind me of Pearls Before Swine. This is another fav so far.
Track 7: Okay so this is a little scary. I like it but it’s a little too much for my everyday listening… hey so I’m more scared now.
Track 8: Okay this is easier on the ears while still being a bit more gritty. I’m getting very proto-punk vibes, love it. The ending gave “Hey Bulldog,” so fun!!
Track 9: Oh hi scary voice. This is palatable loud and scary I enjoy it. Oh big boom.
Track 10: 8 minutes, hoping it’ll keep my attention. Ooh I’m grooving. Right about halfway and I’m still feeling it, love that. Definitely could’ve been a little shorter but I wasn’t bored!
Track 11: Beautiful closing track, ties it all up very well. Another favorite of mine.
I really enjoyed this! Far from my regular listening but I had a lot of fun with it!
Yeah I don’t think this is for me. I’ll finish it but I can’t really keep my attention on it… sorry. I understand the artistry but it’s far from my thing.
So fun!! Just a great time all around. A great rock album to just enjoy the high energy and jam out. A great live album!!!!
i was hoping it’d click, but really it’s not my sort of thing. sorry guys…
While I personally prefer the movie soundtrack version (hot take!!), this album still holds such a special place in my heart. Just a fun time with some WEIRD moments that make it even more endearing. A deserved classic.
Fun!!! I need to get more into punk and I think this was a good starting point, I definitely prefer London Calling though.
I promise I really WANT to like 90s music… this is better than most 90s alt rock I guess?
Love this album!! Possibly my favorite Elliott Smith album :)
It’s so technically perfect that it almost feels weird to me. I love it, but it also is like scarily well made if that makes sense. Highly enjoyed it nonetheless LOL
One of my favorite Radiohead albums I’ve heard, wasn’t expecting that at all. So so good!!!
My favorite queen album!! Probably their most prog and I LOVE it!! Just a very easy listen that I come back to all the time.
Very fun!! Great debut and great time!
I don’t listen to much hip-hop but this was great!! So fun, especially doubled up with the Queen Latifah album I listened to recently!!
YES YES YES YES YES YES. i absolutely loved this and it was the perfect soundtrack to playing my nyt games
Definitely a top 3 Springsteen album, has been for a while. Always love getting a chance to dive into his music!
fun!! very hendrix coded though it sounds a little like it was recorded underwater. good songs just wish the production was better
With enough time, I really think this could go to 5 stars. An absolute joy and masterclass in early psych rock. Love it!
Shockingly enough I’m not huge on the Stones but this is one of their albums I enjoy more than others :)
