1001 Albums Summary

Album 1/1001. Listened 1/6/2026. A little too stoner rock for me. 3/5 on a good day.

Album 2/1001. Listened 1/7/2026. The whole thing is an experience not to be forgotten. I don't love every minute of it, but I can listen to it again and again and enjoy it.

Album 3/1001. Listened 1/8/2026. Just beautiful melodies and harmonies and guitar licks. Can't listen to Teach Your Children without tearing up.

Alum 4/1001. Listened 1/9/2026. Not my favorite genre, but I'm glad I listened to it.

Album 5/1001. Listened 1/12/2026. So many songs I know by heart. Can't say I love every single one of them; I never ever need to hear Voices of Old People again - like listening to Congress.

Album 6/1001. Listened 1/13/2026. Classic 90s grunge rock. The rage and the rock can't be beat. I didn't love each song, but I would definitely play it again.

Album 7/1001. Listened 1/14/2026. So impressed by a woman rapping with men. Not my favorite genre but some of the songs I’d listen to again. Plus she’s the Queen.

Album 8/1001. Listened 1/16/2026. I enjoyed some of the tracks; some I actually even knew! Not a genre I tend to listen to, but I liked the album overall.

Album 9/1001. Listened 1/19/2026. Truly an original. Could listen to this all day.

Album 11/1001. Listened 1/20/2026. Such beautiful songwriting and singing. Definitely a sad album, but in a beautiful way.

It’s long and it’s weird. Like a gummy worm.

Album 12/1001. Listened 1/22/2026. Classic. Does not get much better than this.

Album 13/1001. Listened 1/30/2026. It's ok, probably a little too stoner rock for me, but could listen to it in the background.

Album 14/1001. Listened 1/30/2026. Knew more songs than I thought I did, and enjoyed quite a few. Not my favorite but I can listen to it.

Album 15/1001. Listened 2/2/2026 - Groundhog Day! Again, I knew more songs than I thought I would, and really enjoyed the ones I didn't know.

Album 16/1001. Listened 2/9/2026. It's ok, a bit too stoner jam rock for me. There are a few licks that clearly got sampled by other artists, which is cool. Definitely not an album I'll listen to again.

Album 17/1001. Listened 2/11/2026. I liked this much more than I expected. Loved the world beats, which isn't usually my thing. I'd play this to get through a workday or on a road trip or just hanging out.

Album 18/1001. Listened 2/13/2026. Some classics on here, and really interesting to hear the originals that others have covered, but definitely not my genre. (I really did like this version of Reason to Believe.) Can't argue with their talent, but not my favorite album.

Album 19/1001. Listened 2/16/2026. I could listened to Janis for most of the day, not all day long. That lady's voice is just mind blowing. No complaints about the music, either. A classic.

Album 20/1001. Listened 2/26/2026 (in the car on the way to Santa Fe). Didn't love it, but liked it well enough. I don't think it's aged particularly well, especially in comparison to other artists from that era (Lucinda Williams, e.g.). A few songs I liked and would listen to again, but not the whole album. Absolutely not knocking Bonnie - she's a legend.

Album 21/1001. Listened 3/6/2026. It's ok, but one of those albums that didn't age particularly well for me. I love 90s grunge rock, but this didn't quite hit it for me.

Album 22/1001. Listened 3/20/2026. I never liked the Cocteau Twins when they were popular (in the 90s? 80s?), but listening to this album in 2026 proves me wrong. I really enjoyed it.

Album 23/1001. Listened 3/23/2026. A classic covers the classics. Some are better than others, but it's a great album.

Album 24/1001. Listened 3/30/2026. This one is timeless. Not necessarily my favorite genre, but godDAMN that man is one hell of a musician.

Album 25/1001. Listened 3/30/2026. It was okay, didn't really feel like it aged particularly well. TBH I never really liked the Verve, but I liked this more than I thought I would. But probably not going to make my regular rotation.

Album 26/1001. Listened 4/10/2026. First Joe Ely album, and I really loved it. Classic alt country vibes. Will definitely spin it again.

Album 27/1001. Listened 4/15/2026. I'm not a huge jazz fan, but I liked this one. I could put it on and enjoy it in the background, but honestly it's not something I'd reach for on a regular basis.

Album 28/1001. Listened 4/16/2026. I get the appeal of Morrissey, and this album is definitely good, but it's just not my jam.

Album 29/1001. Listened 4/20/2026. Loved the lyrics of the songs, but the overall album is kind of a downer. Probably won't listen again.

Album 30/1001. Listened 4/16/2026. Definitely not my usual play, but I would listen again. There's some great rhythms and riffs.

Album 31/1001. Listened 4/24/2026. This is a great album for just rage-doing whatever it is you need to do that you do not want to do. These guys are (justifiably) angry.

Album 32/1001. Listened 4/27/2026. I knew most of it by heart. Classic REM. For me this ages better than a lot of music from that era.

Album 33/1001. Listened 4/29/2026. Yes, it's 80s rock, but I do like, and it aged better than I expected. Probably won't spin it often, but I enjoyed listening to it.

Somehow I missed this one when it first came out. I listened to it several times to rate it, but none of it stuck with me. It's fine, just nothing special.

Album 35/1001. Listened 5/4/2026. Some classics I could listen to on repeat, but also some songs I don't ever want to listen to again. Aged OK, but not perfectly.

Album 36/1001. Listened 5/6/2026. I loved this so much. I played it over and over again and it blended into the background and then jumped back out. A definite keeper.

Album 37/1001. Listened 5/18/2026. Some classics I can listen to again and again, but some lesser-known ones that are decent as well. It'll never be a number 1 album for me, but I can respect it, and it has aged incredibly well.

Album 38/1001. Listened 5/18/2026. Couldn't get into this one. I don't remember hearing it when it first came out, and I didn't think it aged particularly well. Won't listen again.

Album 39/1001. Listened 6/2/2026. Absolute perfection. No notes. Can listen to this forever and not get bored.

Album 40/1001. Listened 6/8/2026. It's OK, but nothing I'll spin again.

Album 41/1001. Listened 6/11/2026. Took me back to college in the 90s! Definitely good beats and jams, but not necessarily one of my faves. Might listen to a few songs here and there.

Album 42/1001. Listened 6/22/2026. It has some really catchy killer beats and melodies. Not really my favorite genre, but I could listen to it again.

Album 43/1001. Listened 6/25/26. It's definitely a classic, but it's not really my jam. I doubt I'll listen again, but I respect these guys.

Album 44/1001. Listened 6/26/2026. I can see that this album was groundbreaking, and it definitely made an impact on modern music, but it's not my jam. One listen was enough.

Album 45/1001. Listened 6/29/2026. Definitely not a favorite; came across very dated, even for prog-rock. Won't spin again.

Album 46/1001. Listened 7/13/2026. It's OK, just a little off what I normally like to listen to, maybe a little to far into EDM or prog rock for me. I might only be a fan of Radiohead's big hits (which is fine - I won't be shamed for having likes and dislikes).

Album 47/1001. Listened 7/13/2026. Can't argue with a classic! Catchy, angry, eye-opening. I won't spin it often, but I enjoyed listening to it.

Album 48/1001. Listened 7/14/2026. It's better in orange juice.

Album 49/1001. Listened 7/22/2026. All day, everyday.

Album 50/1001. Listened 7/23/2026. Great beats. Not a huge dance music fan, but I could listen to this one again and again. It's good background music for working.

Album 51/1001. Listened 7/23/2026. A couple of bangers/hits, but 80s hairbands aren't really my jam. Might listen to one or two again, but not the whole album.

Album 52/1001. Listened 7/24/2026. Not what I'd reach for ordinarily, but I could listen to it again and again.

Album 53/1001. Listened 7/24/2026. It's OK, not really my genre. Probably won't listen again.

Album 54/1001. Listened 8/5/2026. It's Bruce, but not my favorite Bruce. I might listened to one or two songs again, but it's not going to be on a frequent rotation.

Album 55/1001. Listened 8/6/2026. Not my favorite R.E.M. album, but there's a few songs I loved. (I'm also surprised that Stand and Orange Crush are on the same album...)

Album 56/1001. Listened 8/17-8/21/2026. Really struggled with this one. It's not my normal genre, and it took me a full week to give the whole thing a thorough listen. Some catchy tunes but not much I'm going to spin again. (Also this is the second Outkast album in the first 56 albums I've listened to. That's enough slices.)
