Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet

I mean I can't count how many times I've listened to Take Five. I remember driving around with my dad when I was a kid and it was always on the radio because he listened to smooth jazz 105.9, and this was one of the rare songs I loved as opposed to literally anything by Kenny G. But I haven't sat and listened to the rest of the album intently before and it is just brilliant. The push and pull of the tempo in Blue Rondo to start is genius, such a journey to go through in a nearly 7 minute track. Everybody in the band pulls their weight.

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Jan 22 2026

What are these guys famous for? I guess standards were lower in the 60s. Idk. Vocals were giving bob dylan at times. Some kinda love was my favorite. “Some kinds of love are mistaken for vision”. I’m giving a solid 4/10 here boys.

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Jan 28 2026

I think I'm too old and lazy for this album these days. Only 21 minutes but it was a slog. I feel like I need to be in a mood to appreciate this more but I wasn't. Respect to the unfiltered punk rock vibes though

Liquid Swords by GZA
Jan 29 2026

They don't make albums like this anymore. Shit slaps so hard. Production value is insane, lyrics are incredible. 10/10.

Smash by The Offspring
Feb 02 2026
Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Feb 04 2026

Look - I love Billie Holiday. I stan Billie Holiday. But holy shit was this album a slog. It felt like one single 44 minute long song. I had to keep checking youtube to make sure I wasn't looping the same song over again. The only saving grace was the occasional trumpet line. Whole thing felt like the backtrack to a boring ass movie from the 50s.

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Feb 05 2026

Listening to this makes me want to go do hooligan shit. Classic album but hard to listen through while sitting at a desk. Could probably just listen to the drum lines by themselves.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Feb 06 2026

Yacht rockers rejoice! I have a soft spot for Steely Dan, my parents like them a lot so listening to them carries some feelgood nostalgia for me. Any major dude would tell you. For the album itself, not my favorite Dan album but I think there are still some gems in there like the title track Pretzel Logic. I think I would go 3.5 stars if I could but I'm leaning towards rounding down.

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Feb 09 2026

Not entirely sure how to review this other than to say that this really isn't my jam. It's that style of early 90s rap where they just kind of yell and its noisy and loud and a bit frenzied. Did not really enjoy it.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Feb 10 2026

I'm sure this would be a lot better if I was on acid but in the absence of that I did not enjoy it very much.

Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos
Feb 11 2026

I think this album would go hard as fuck as a metal cover.

The Healer by John Lee Hooker
Feb 12 2026

Great blues album. Don't think it's my favorite of all time but still incredibly good. 4 stars.

G. Love And Special Sauce by G. Love & Special Sauce
Feb 13 2026

I had never heard of this band before, reminds me a bit of Beck. Was alright.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Feb 16 2026

This album is so much fun. I'd never heard of this guy before. Sofia said that he was pretty popular in Italy back in the day and they used to play his songs at the disco.

Picture Book by Simply Red
Feb 18 2026

Such a quintessential 80s sound. Had a few good songs but didn't feel like it was straight bangers

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
Feb 19 2026

I really enjoyed this one in high school

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Feb 20 2026

Sounds like some shit Pat would listen to

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Feb 23 2026

Hadn't heard this before, was pretty awesome. Reminded me of Tenacious D a little bit.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Feb 25 2026

Really liked track 4 Samba Triste. Overall, samba isn't my favorite flavor of jazz but it is a solid album. Gonna have to go with a 3 for this cus while I respect the musicality it still sounds like high class elevator music to me

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 26 2026

idk man I just don't enjoy listening to Bruce

Feb 27 2026

Didn't like track 6 Green Calx, but everything else is straight bangers. Love Aphex Twin, could listen to this on repeat

The Doors by The Doors
Mar 02 2026

Solid album, I'd give 3.5 stars if I could.

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods

My poor ears

No Other by Gene Clark
Mar 05 2026

pretty solid album

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Mar 06 2026

Made me want to go on a long drive out west with the windows down

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
Mar 11 2026

guitar went hard on track 2

Mar 13 2026

My mom used to listen to Yes growing up, the album with Owner of a Lonely Heart. I thought it was a pretty great song at the time. I think overall they make some really cool sounds, stuff that is in another world from what I hear today. That being said, this was not my favorite album

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Mar 18 2026
This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Mar 20 2026

Feel good 70s music! 2 stars.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Mar 26 2026

I actually really like Fleetwood Mac, but if this album was my first impression of them then I probably wouldn't. I see a lot of commentary online that this is their masterpiece album, their "White" album. Sounds like a load of garbage to me.

Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
Mar 27 2026

Giving this 3 stars cus I feel like if I were in a certain state of mind I would appreciate it a lot more

Apr 01 2026

I kinda liked it kinda didn't. I think I like the actual music and Callahan's voice, gives me kind of The National vibes at times. But it is a bit too spoken word for me and I think that just isn't my jam

The La's by The La's
Apr 02 2026

There She Goes hits me in the nostalgia but otherwise can't say this is my favorite album. Lead singer has kind of a whiny voice and it annoys me

Apr 03 2026

I always liked the song Crazy, which I think was my total exposure to Cee Lo Green. He is definitely a super talented dude, but damn this album sucks.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Apr 07 2026

Not a big Elvis fan but this is a solid album, would do 3.5 stars if I could

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Apr 08 2026

This does not sound like it came out in 2018. It DOES sound like garbage, I couldn't get through the whole thing I tried

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
May 01 2026

Pretty great album imo. Subtracting a star because it hit me in the nostalgia and unbottled some old memories that I had kept stuffed deep down.
