1001 Albums Summary

Honestly can tell why I’m not as familiar with this album as say Songs in the Key of Life or Innervisions. “Boogie on Reggae Woman” is a banger, and I liked “Creepin’” but “You Haven’t Done Nothin’” sounds like a “Superstition” outtake. I liked “Please Don’t Go” but something about the cymbals was like nails on chalkboard

Beautiful production, but I don’t know how much time personally I want to spend with a Death Album. I liked ‘Traveling Light’ but couldn’t escape that every track kinda feels like it’s looking to be a True Detective theme song

You can’t blame them for having tension and being headed for a breakup at this point—I can’t imagine how frustrating it would be to be in a band with Paul and have him invent Metal on Helter Skelter and then the next week he brings in Honey Pie

Overall a really fun album but oh my god what a stinker “student demonstration time” is

Went in with no expectations and had a lot of fun. What great basslines

In terms of sequencing I really can’t believe Hurt is #2. Hard to follow!!

It’s good, but I prefer a more experimental, funkier Beck on Odelay or Guero. I liked “it’s all in your mind”

I forgot how much “Crosseyed and Painless” rips

I like to think we’ve moved beyond the days of a hip hop album having a bunch of skits

I’m sure this was probably groundbreaking at the time but 30 years later it felt like a lot of generic techno idk

I think “I got sold but I’m not a soldier” is a better lyric

I think these kids are going places!

Less grating than I expected, but ultimately my flavor of dad rock is much more on the steely dan end of the spectrum

Great music but I think Solomon has some issues with women (‘little girls’?) he should work on. Liked that “You Can’t Love Em All” had a had him arguing with the backup singers during the song

there's a lot in here where they are trying to piss you off- and it worked!! And then something would come through that was completely my shit and I'd be all over it. Had to reckon with the annoying parts getting my attention to really here the cool shit. It was a close battle but they got me. Also gotta give points to this album clearly having a huuuge influence on the 90s

Driving through Brooklyn listening to this and the vibes, as the kids say, were immaculate. Then I got stuck in the tunnel and realized how much noodling was going on

Is everyone gonna be mad if I say I thought "Winter" was an Evanescence song? Crucify is-in Nick's words- such a banger

This was all good but I just never connected with grunge the way people like ten years older than me did

i don't think i have anything original to say about bob dylan but these are some great songs

She really loves that coat! Overall too country for me in general tho

Famously good album, what can you say?

You know I was into this more than anticipated—I did not expect Secret 77 to be such a Duran Duran song

The songs that are on The Cream of Clapton I’ve heard a million times, and the ones that are new I liked! Except that one very vaudeville song that was the king of thing Paul would bring in and all the Beatles would hate

I had never listen to much frank ocean because I understood him to be sort of a slower, more navel gazey Kanye, and he’s not beating the allegations

I liked- some felt very contemporary and some felt very early 90s/groove is in the heart-style stuff

This project has really made me appreciate the virtues of the 30 minute album

Expecting a pretty big generational divide between myself and everyone else on this album- did we all listen to this one 100 times in high school or was that just me?

I'm on song #2 but "Another Girl, Another Planet" is so much my shit that this album gets a 5 and im just mad I somehow never knew about this band before now

It all feels like music you’d hear during a commercial for NBC’s ‘Heroes’

I have a soft spot for prog and this was a lot even for me

So glad they kicked Chevy Chase out
