Some really interesting sounds on this one, the guitar tones are pretty unique and very clean. Not super special lyrics-wise, but it very impressive for a debut album. Best song was "Wild West End."
Very strong vocal talent and it’s pretty smooth jazz if you’re into that. A bit repetitive sounding
Unique piano arrangements and good guitar parts. I would need a second listen to understand all the lyrics. The songs were a bit too long and seemed to drag a bit.
Interesting grunge sound, but distinct enough from bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana to justify its existence. Fairly dark and depressing lyrics, as the entire album centers around Layne Staley’s drug addiction. Pretty good as far as 90s grunge dad rock goes.
This one is kind of a mixed bag. Some of the songs have excellent guitar riffs and basslines, and the whole band seems very cohesive. Then on other songs it seems like the singer and drummer are not even in sync. Some songs like "Come Out and Play" have thoughtful and meaningful lyrics, and others like "Bad Habit" are just edgy for the sake of being edgy. Overall there are some good tracks on this album, but the I'll pass on the whole thing.
Smooth and easy listening with some nice saxophone playing. Nothing too groundbreaking or exciting and not quite my taste.
There were a couple of interesting tracks on this record, but overall it was pretty rough to get through. Most of the songs were just fine, but a few of them were nearly unbearable. This is the worst even of the jazz I have heard so far in this list.
"Everyone's gonna love this!"
-MJ Cole, probably
This record is a pretty enjoyable mix of jazz and funk. Some of the songs overstayed their welcome by quite a bit, but the overall length was pretty quick and easily digestible. The singing on the whole did not add very much, and was to some of the songs' detriment. The last two tracks were standout four or five-star songs, but overall this record is just pretty good.
There were some interesting early hip hop sounds on this record. However, a lot of the beats were not mixed very well, and it was hard to hear the lyrics over them. Additionally, several tracks had loud screeching and squealing sounds over them which was very distracting and devastating to the listening experience.
Some of the earlier songs lean too much into the quiet and intimate singing, making it pretty hard to hear. This isn't as much of an issue later, although I found a lot of the tracks pretty boring and repetitive. I could see how this is a good album, but it really wasn't my cup of tea.
Not every song on this album is perfect, but there are some absolute classics. The playing is high quality, especially the lead guitar. This is a very solid album.
In the midst of a lot of mid or downright bad albums, Tapestry by Carole King stands out as actually being one of the greatest albums of all time. This is an album you should hear before you die.
I can understand that this album was influential to modern hip-hop and was very culturally significant at the time. However, I am judging these albums based on how they sound, and this one just did not sound good. The songs are very repetitive, and they are either uninteresting or straight-up bad.
Another win for the deaf
Absolute classic album. There's not much else to be said
This was an unexpectedly solid album. The guitar parts were all exceptional and bold. The vocals were a bit lacking in a few songs, and sometimes the lyrics were mumbled. The album was also not nearly as grunge-sounding as I thought it would be. Overall though, it was a nice surprise.
This is classic dad rock. The guitar solos are pretty good and it's a nice vibe. The lyrics are a bit lacking on a lot of the songs, and they all blend together a little bit. Overall, this is a solid album, but there are a few things holding it back.
This album had a few pretty good songs, but for the most part they were pretty uninteresting. A lot of them also weren't mixed very well, so it was pretty hard to hear the lyrics.
This is a fine record, and has a few memorable sounds. Overall though it's pretty boring. There are almost no memorable lyrics, and some of them are downright bad. This is an inoffensive, forgettable record.
This album had pretty good vibes and a few very good tracks, but I don't think anyone would honestly say this is their favorite Bowie album. If it wasn't by him, I don't even think it would be on this list. By no means a bad album though.
I am happy to have been introduced to a new style of music that I had never really delved into before. The musicians were all very talented and it was a unique sound. It was not really my cup of tea, and some of the songs went on for quite a long time (although they were not too repetitive). It's not bad, but not the best that I have heard.
This was a pretty important album for nu metal and rap rock, and did a lot to popularize those sounds. There are some all-time great tracks on this record, but there are also a few that seem to just be noise for the sake of noise. Overall this a good listen and worth hearing, but is not the best album I've heard.

It has been clear in my reviews that I am not a fan of jazz. This jazz, however, is worse than most. It is too meandering, and too random. He clearly achieved the sound he was going for, but it is not for me.
There were a few very good songs on this album and a few very bad songs. The majority of them were pretty middle of the road though, and this album was pretty forgettable.
I can really see what this album is going for, and I can understand the appeal of jazz. However, it really isn't for me. The musicians are all very talented, but it just meanders and wanders about for 40 minutes without ever feeling like it's going anywhere.
Let's start with the bad. This album is incredibly long. Some of the songs drag on and on with repeated choruses, and there is 25+ minutes of straight jamming at the end. These facts do not take away from the fact that this album contains banger after banger. It's hard to find a bad track on here. Even though parts of it are overlong and self-indulgent, this is a great record.
This is a great album with some really great songs, but there are a few that hold this back from being a perfect five-star album in my opinion. A couple of them feature a bit of screaming that is pretty harsh and really takes away from the overall enjoyment.
This album had some strong vocals and instrumental work, especially good baselines, and good production. Some of the songs near the end really drag on and stay past their welcome, but overall it's a good listen.
This album has some interesting sounds but is overall pretty forgettable. Some of the earlier tracks have some very unique vocal work, which is technically impressive but not very pleasant to listen to.
The songs all have a very similar style and sound to them. It works very well on some tracks, and considerably less well on others. It's not really my thing.
This is a very solid album with some very fun tracks. The latter half gets a bit boring, but the first few tracks are near perfect. That N word came out of nowhere though.
The first solo album from John "The Beatles was nothing" Lennon. It's self-indulgent, overly experimental, and somewhat repetitive. But come on, it's John Lennon. It's clear from albums like this as well as his interviews from this time period that he underestimated the amount of gratitude he owed the group, but he still made pretty good music without them. It does not come close to rivaling what he did with them in my opinion though.
This was a good album. Easy to listen to. A bit repetitive and the songs all blended together, but I had no problems with it.
