Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Jun 11 2026

This was really cool. I recognized a lot of the songs not knowing they were Led Zeppelin. The sleeper hit was Going to California which I thought was a nice contrast compared to the rest of the album which was heavier rock.

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Jun 12 2026

I unfortunately am not into this album at all. It's maybe not the best introduction into 90's Hip Hop. I will need to do more research on how it was received, particularly by non-white audiences. It is surprisingly vulgar on some tracks, and maybe that is a part of the appeal from that time. There are points of the album that are clever and humorous, but I can't imagine listening to it that often.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Jun 15 2026

I'm wondering if I'm missing context to this album. I liked the title track and the rest of the songs are technically really good. But I'm not sure why this is as important as something like The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Jun 16 2026

I liked some of the songs but "in the ghetto" is such a crazy song. Obviously the 50's were a different time, but oof. I need to do more research on other responses to the song. I liked the song "Suspicious Minds" the most.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Jun 17 2026

I really liked this album. I didn't realize George had it like that but I should have known based on his catalogue from The Beatles. It's not as trippy as I'd think it would be based on some of his songs. It's very grounded but he's still able to show off a sense of humor. The instrumental section dragged on for a bit but was still really interesting and dynamic, showcasing his talents. My Sweet Lord is definitely the highlight of the album but there wasn't a song that I disliked.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Jun 18 2026

This is an interesting album. I can't tell if I recognized the songs or if they sound like other songs by Van Morrison. Some of the songs are catchy but I'm confused why Van Morrison references Romani / caravan life so often. He says a potential slur for the Romani peoples couple of times and has other songs that reference them as well. Obviously it was a different time but it's so interesting how he seems to refer to this community. I am curious as to why this album made the list, when Brown Eyed Girl is his most iconic song. I wasn't aware that the singer was anything more than a one hit wonder.

Jun 19 2026

Respect is a great cover, and Franklin has a great voice, but I can't figure out why the album is lauded so much. The other songs are fine but seem overshadowed by Respect. I can't find much info on why this album as a whole has skyrocketed to such fame.

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jun 22 2026

I can't believe this is Stevie Wonder's 16th studio album. I wasn't crazy about it at first but it was grown on me. Golden Lady is a really nice ballad and Living For the City is such a good song. I want to listen to more of Stevie Wonder's earlier work to understand his transition from Little Stevie Wonder to his more mature work here. It is really cool to see how outspoken he is here on police violence and other topics of the time.

Jun 23 2026

The first album from the 21st century that's been sent to me. I really like it. I recognize a lot of the songs but even the ones that I didn't were really good. I think this album really captures 2008 and what being a young adult during that time was like.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jun 24 2026

Really interesting to hear Neil Young as a part of a group. I had only been familiar with his solo work. This album is really fun and history of the group was really fascinating. I was surprised by how much of the album I actively enjoyed, particularly the songs that I had not heard before. "Almost Cut My Hair" jumps out as an all time great song. Crosby's vocals are so good and he's supported by the bands backing.
