1001 Albums Summary

Strong start that ends up cutting itself short. About every second feels redundant in sound and presentation to the previous track. It makes you think you’ve heard all of their music

Phenomenal album. Starts off with probably my favorite track of the entire album, and that’s along an amazing lineup including Around the Bend and Run Through the Jungle. I can’t recommend this enough

Almost a perfect album. There’s a couple hiccups, but the ones that stand out stand out strong. Sprawl II is the favorite for me on this

Great album. I don’t think it’s one that’ll be close to my heart as others, but the psychedelic experiments all throughout are just incredibly immersive

Such an amazing way of utilizing samples and tracks from other music to transform them into something new. It’s a shame most remixes and samples today feel cheap and lack passion. I have a lot more respect and hope we can get more like this album

I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like for audiences in 1966 when the Beatles morphed their style into multiple areas of music. While I don’t think I’d put this over Sgt. Pepper, this is a fantastic album

Took me a second to connect, but once the Band clicked, their sound and vibes offer a great blend of folk and rock.

I need to sit on this a little bit. It’s my first time listening to Amy and she’s an incredible singer. Besides a few hits I’m not sure if this album clicked for me as good as others. 3.5/5

A fantastic album

There’s reasons to like this, and I think for the right audience, it’s an amazing album that hits home at themes of loss, love, and hardships in life. Unfortunately, I’m not the right audience for this. With the exception of maybe one or two songs, I don’t think I’ll have much desire to return to this

Outside the controversies of the album cover and a couple songs, I really enjoyed listening to this. There’s a few bangers like the obvious Our House, but I quite liked the experimental style throughout. A good listen

Six songs may seem small, but it’s so fantastic! Sister Ray blew my mind as did the rest of this album

It’s missing the whole formation of the Smiths, but Morrissey still proves his own talents as a solo artist and makes his mark known.

Incredible Album

I really want to dive deep in the minds of those who gave this anymore than 2 because it astonishes me in the worst way possible how people enjoy this. By the time the first song started, I really didn’t know what to expect. Unfortunately, this may just be the worst album I’ve ever listened to. It’s one thing to be experimental and try new things. Many bands have done that (the Beatles) and have had a story to tell with it. This is just the most random shit that somehow got a full record. I genuinely don’t know how people enjoy this. There are some interesting dynamics of sound, but where are we supposed to go with this? What makes it stand out? It just feels so bare minimum I can’t even fathom respecting the attempt

Can’t give shit to the man that was able to be the King. Look out, man!

A perfect album

A pretty solid showcase of Cohen’s talent. Really enjoyed this one

I haven’t seen the movie, but the soundtrack itself is groovy and chill it’s just a vibe you want to be a part of

Truly a one of a kind album. The vibes of this album from five songs alone are immaculate. It's a near perfect album that executes sound so damn well.

Some really good tracks in this. I'm a fan of Tom Waits, but the style of this album isn't in my taste.

Quite fitting that, on my Dad’s Heavenly Birthday, I get one of his and my mom’s all-time favorites. I have no words.
