Great songwriting ruined by weird production choices and stock music-ass beats. Compton is a great song, unfortunately it's the only good song on the album. I really don't understand why people love this one so much. :3
I finally listened to this in full for the first time since 2024. :3
I can see why people consider this one of the best albums of all time, but I personally think this is just good, not great. Some songs go on for way too long without adding anything new to the song. Also, it seems like the songs aren't actually about anything and they just wrote lyrics that sound cool, which works for artists like jibral and Nirvana but sounds pretty cheesy when done for thrash metal. I think that's typical of most 1980s mainstream rock music, but that doesn't make it any less tacky. This is one of those albums that are good, but not good enough for me to want to relisten to it. :3
This may be the most boring, uninteresting album I've ever heard (and I've heard Selected Ambient Works Volume II). It sounds like he was trying to imitate the Beatles while trying to make it sound like 1990s alternative rock and ultimately failing at both, creating a generic, repetitive folk album. Angeles and Say Yes are alright but the rest are completely forgettable. :3
This is my first time listening to a full reggae album. I quite liked this one, although the songs did sound kind of the same. I think this one is more of an album to put on in the background than to sit down and listen to. Still great though. I wonder if this kind of music is better live. :3
They named this album after the score it deserves. :3
This isn't really my kind of music but I loved it anyway. Psycho Killer was a bit disappointing though, there are much better songs on the album. :3
Great album, it's not perfect but it has some damn good songs. I love the guitar sound on this album. :3
This kind of music never interested me but I might listen to more of it because this album is good as fuck. Now I see why everyone loves this one. Great drum sound, too. :3
Also I'm pretty sure that guy is carrying more than just four sticks. :3
Great downtempo album, I really like the vocals on this one. Also the drums. Not sure why they decided to include the horrible rapping on "The Pilgrim", though. Hopefully this artist's other works are just as good, this album was great and I want to hear more from him. :3
I really like the vocals on this one, this album might get me to listen to more pop soul. The piano being played the same way on nearly every song does get a bit repetitive and annoying though. :3
This was my first sophisti-pop album, I'm not sure if I like this genre enough to listen to more of it but I really like the instrumentation on this one. "A Gospel" is genuinely great. This album does get a bit bland toward the end, though. I'd say this is better as background music than something to sit down and listen to. :3
I'm not sure if I have much to say about this album because for some reason my ADHD decided that I'm not going to actually pay attention to the album I'm listening to and enjoying today. As usual, I like the guitar a lot. The vocals sound kind of like some of the other dream pop artists I've heard which is pretty nice as well. Also I love the effects and weird sounds that appear sometimes. I can't say much about the actual songwriting because I was having a really hard time focusing on this album for some reason, but from what my brain let me process, it was pretty good. :3
Very obviously a 1980s album. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's distractingly obvious. This album has the same problem that Master of Puppets has, which is lyrics chosen just to sound cool rather than actual good songwriting (with the additional problem of pronouncing things weird to fit the song, also misogyny). That's typical of popular music at the time but that's not a good excuse. The beats still hold up pretty well, I could imagine a newer hip-hop act like Joey Valence & Brae on one of these tracks and it would sound perfectly natural (although sounding like older rap is kind of their whole thing). The first 3 tracks are probably the best on the album, they're great even though the lyrics are pretty cheesy. :3
Now I see why everyone loves this one, this is actually really calming. I'm definitely going to be listening to this one again. Great piano. Maybe ambient music isn't so boring after all. :3
Pretty standard early 1980s stuff. Not what I usually listen to but I can see why this kind of music was popular back then. Pretty cool guitar, great melodies and the vocalist has a really nice voice. :3
Surprisingly good album, I didn't expect the guy from the band that made The Queen Is Dead to make non-boring music. I really like the guitar melodies on this one. :3
My computer won't turn on so I had to use my vinyl copy to listen to this one. I forgot how fucking good this one is, great songwriting and great synth sounds. I should listen to this one more. :3
Very comforting album, I really like how his voice sounds over the instruments. It does drop in quality about halfway through the album but not too much. I'm probably going to get this one on vinyl someday. :3
Boring album until the last few tracks. It starts out pretty uninteresting and stays that way for most of the album, but it picks up around track 7 or 8. Red Box is great as are the following tracks (albeit somewhat less). The synths also sound pretty cheesy. :3
Sick-ass rock music, it loses a few points for the bad-sounding vocals on Search and Destroy and the random-ass noises the guy made on Penetration though. Otherwise it's a great album, definitely check this one out. :3
Awesome post-punk record, definitely check this one out. I love the vocals. :3
At first I wasn't really looking forward to listening to this one because of its length, but I'm glad I did. This is how you do a long album, all 45 tracks are great. I'm definitely going to be relistening to a lot of them, and possibly buying this album on vinyl. As usual, I love the guitar melodies on this album. I highly recommend this one. :3
Genuinely amazing album, I'm definitely going to check out more of their stuff after this, and more progressive rock in general. Could be a bit shorter though. :3
Another one I've heard before. I forgot just how fucking good this one is, this is possibly the greatest hip-hop album of all time. The beats are very catchy and the lyrics are very well written. This album is also the perfect length for an album in my opinion, it's not too short and it's not too long. I also like the little intro things some of the tracks have. Overall amazing record, definitely listen to this one if you haven't already. :3
Pretty standard trip hop stuff, still great though. I like how it doesn't just stick to one genre, it changes quite a bit in the second half. :3
Great art rock album, it kind of reminds me of David Bowie. I'm not really a fan of the random synth drone thing at the end though, I liked the sound but I don't see the point of including it and it just makes the album longer for no reason. Also, the cover is weirdly modern-looking and I'm not sure how I feel about that. :3
The first half was pretty good but the second half felt pretty boring and generic. This album is definitely too long, they should have just released the first 8-9 tracks. :3
Pretty cool jazz album, not something I'd sit down and listen to again but it'd make some damn good background music. This is also probably the oldest album I've ever listened to. :3
